Detailed Reviews
Avanilaya is a beautiful property, hidden away, serene, spotlessly clean, very well maintained and exactly like the photographs. We stayed in the 3 bedroom villa, which had a lot of space for our family of 4 on a workation in October. While the rooms are all great, its the outside sit-out which looks onto greenery a comfortable space to relax all day with good wifi connection. The pool right in the middle of the property was lovely and great service by all including Anthony & Anna who looked after us really well. The Goan food cooked by Maria & Josephine is outstanding and definitely a high point of the trip since we had most of our meals in house (definitely try the pomfret caldin curry). Really appreciate the staff working around our meal timings, given 3 different schedules and no request was too much for them. Avanilaya is perfect for relaxing as its 30 minutes drive from most places eating or otherwise and its wise to have a car of ones own. We felt safe given high hygiene standards and it was a perfect break during the pandemic, we could not have asked for anything more.

AVANILAYA is a superb resort built on a hill with view of river flowing under the hill. The nature has been saved naturally and the construction very close to Goan Portuguese design. No concrete used here. Maintain a superb balance with natural items used superbly to creat a soothing serene atmosphere. Must see this place to believe.

Like one of the previous reviews, I'm writing this quite reluctantly as Avanilaya is a true hidden gem. One of the most spectacular Goan villas you will find, with incredible views of the surrounding greenery and river. Each room is enormous and beautifully decorated. The food is outstanding, so fresh, colourful and delicious and every day you will get to taste something different. Avanilaya was the location for our wedding and we knew it couldn't be anywhere else. Our close family stayed in both the main 5 bedroom villa and also the smaller 3 bedroom villa. It is hard to choose which rooms are the best as they are all stunning. Thanks to Charmaine and her team for the attentive and highly professional service.
To summarise - I wish this was my house and I could live here all year round!

was there to plan my birthday party for 25 friends ,had taken a prior appointment to help conclude the deal and do a complete recce of the place tried my level best to agree with all there terms and conditions , but specifically their manager Mr.Sabino was so un accommodating , that at one point of time it was un bearably just packed and got out of the place and am happy that we did that , the place is so amazing just feel very sorry for the owners to have left it in the hands of a very difficult man .

We were at this venue to attend my son's wedding and what a spectacular place this turned out to be. A gem of a place tucked away and we will be coming back to enjoy the charming setting, the peace, the tranquility and the paradise-like gardens. If you want toime away from the beaches of Goa, you can't do better than this place. The chef cooked good food as well.

Went for a weekend to celebrate a friend's birthday. Loved everything about the property. Beautiful old world goan charm with all the creature comforts you need, and a luxurious feel to boot. VERY spacious, including the rooms, almost wasteful in fact :)
A lot of peace,, quiet and privacy if that's what you want (especially if you book a whole villa of 3-4 bedrooms). Food was nice, would not say it was exceptional. Staff were polite and friendly.

So here go guys, we went for a recee to this beautifully done place with the most exquisite decor and interiors, tucked away on a hilltop in aldona, beautifully done 3 magnificent villas,
We planned to stay for 2 nights to plan a friend's bday party for 25 friends for 3 nights, all was planned with the team there, until we got to the place and were aghast and shocked at the service particularly this so called manager Sabino who is an utter shame, who comes with an terrible attitude and thinks we are at his mercy, has no concept of hospitality non cooperative in every aspect, we have spends hours explaining what we wanted for this 3 day party and for everything he had one thing to say NO, refused to let us talk to the owners, when we told him that some of the rooms had small issues to be addressed he completely ignored and would say no it's all ok, asked him for what menu can be set, he had no clue, unfortunately the other staff had no permission even to speak with us without his permission, this place is an absolute nightmare only because of this so called manager,
Please think before u go

We had a family wedding recently at this property. I must say, this was perfect. The property is outstanding. All 3 villas are distinct and are very well designed and planned.
However, the management is terrible. The wedding went off well, however the manager decided to play spoilt sport and lie to us that the common area air conditioning is not installed and just dummy air conditioners. When we got it started by finding the MCB, they came and closed it in the middle of the late night party, which they were aware off from the start of our planning that due to loud music at night, we shall be shifting the party indoors into that particular villa. When we went to discuss with them, we were told that we have been given the rooms with air conditioning and not the common areas.
Really embarrassing for us in front of all our guests, that in the peak of summer, we have an indoor place with no air conditioning.
For the interiors, view and positioning of the property, I think the management is really terrible.
Please remember this is a beautiful expensive property, which I would suggest not to visit, or visit but make sure everytthing is clear & in writing before you enter, because it can make you feel like you are in a 1 star (next to bus stop) kinda place, when they treat you like crap in the middle of the night, in the middle of the party, which happens to be somebody's wedding.

We were introduced to this beautiful hotel through a friend and after a short journey from the coast we arrived at the gate of a large, well manicured estate. On arrival we drove the short distance to the main buildings which are old style Portuguese villas. From the hill on which they are situated the views are breathtaking and of constant interest. Nature abounds; birds, trees, plants, small animals.
It is a perfect place for exquisite dining, relaxing by the swimming pools, meditation and just spending time with family and friends in the pristine environment that is Avanilaya.
The furniture, furnishings and decor are superb and a credit to the owner and the manager.
The staff are very helpful and friendly but unobtrusive. It is a wonderful place and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a quiet stay yet within easy access to the coast of Goa.

We were at Avanilaya to join a wedding for two days. So it was not a typical resort stay as such. But It was an impeccable stay, what with the great ambience and idyllic surroundings. Not the beachy sandy Goan resort but one which celebrates the beauty and bliss of nature. It is located uphill and is hidden amid wilderness, with perfect privacy if that’s what you are looking for. The view of a river flowing below the resort with boats sailing sometimes was amazing; and so was the feeling amid the woods. One could sit and watch a variety of birds there, even peacocks roaming the open greens. We stayed at Panchwati, an old Goan- Portuguese style villa with five- six rooms. What is interesting about the villa is that each room is designed differently with perfect old world charm and aura. Big clean rooms with ample space, four post beds, old style furniture elegantly decorated. (Though they could do with some more lighting). Our room had a quaint balcony/ sit-out looking over diverse trees including a cashew tree. The washroom is a bigger surprise - it is eclectic, very spacious with two washbasins (probably his and hers) and a sunken shower area right in the centre of the bathroom. Only the shower spewed water in spurts, not always according to the desired temperature. All the rooms open onto a central lawn surrounded by a passage again decorated with ancient looking furniture pieces and artefacts. The lawns are on various tiers which is interesting but roughly preserves the hilly rocky terrain. So you’ve got to be careful when walking around.
As we only had breakfast at the resort, I can only comment on that. The food was simple homely and very tasty. The staff is very helpful and accommodating, always ready to help. The kitchen is run by an all women team, who scurry around trying to cater to all needs including the cleaning and baggage transfer. The manager Edward is an efficient guy.
Avanilaya has three villas, one of which - The Third Place- is a modern one done up with huge glass windows and contemporary furniture and wonderfully landscaped lawns. The swimming pool in this one has an infinity edge which adds to the beauty of the view you get to treat your eyes on.
But the resort is distant from crowded areas, and needs to have direction arrow boards to guide guests and drivers. One more thing — Pristine pleasure no doubt but a prodigious pinch on the pocket.
