A lovely, small hotel built into the walls of a medieval village in the Cher valley. The owners are very helpful, and Madame speaks good English. The rooms are well appointed, with full bathrooms, heating, etc. Downstairs, you move back into the 50s. Very atmospheric. The dining room is good, as is the choice of dishes. Give it a try!!!

From the outside this hotel is unprepossessing but step inside and you will be pleasantly surprised. Parts of the hotel incorporate the old medieval walls. The hotel owners are charming and helpful. The room we had at the back was very quiet. the only sound to be heard was the cooing of the pigeons. We ate the 33F menu and...

The French village of Mennetou sur Cher lies on the surprisingly busy D976N between Tours and Vierzon. As you drive along the road the village looks small and grey and rather run down. Stop however and walk 2 meters from the main road and you find on one side the very pleasant Canal du Berry and on the other a...

From the outside you wouldn't realise what was waiting behind the entrance! A typical Logis de France hotel, family run, friendly with good 'home cooking'. Bedroom (ensuite) was very comfortable looking out over the courtyard and the ruined walls of a medieval gatehouse. Given the warm weather eating in the courtyard was a prerequisite. A great place to stay and...

This hotel has the most unprepossessing frontal façade. Do not be deceived by this! Once through the doors you find a wonderful hotel built into the tower from which it takes its name. Rooms are comfortable and reasonably priced. There is a restaurant and a small courtyard/garden area where you can dine and then slip out of the back gate...

This is a modest country auberge, and a great place to stay. Madame is friendly and helpful, our room was very acceptable, good food in the restaurant. We picniced one day and had post lunch coffee in the dining room, and tea in the afternoon. Speaking of which, tea in teapots, some of the best tea we have had in...

Mennetou-sur- Cher is a real gem and the setting of the hotel nestling against the wall of an ancient tower is quite stunning. The welcome and the room were very pleasant and we were really looking forward to our dinner, the set menu at 20 euros promising lots of fresh and tasty local produce. How disappointing was the result. We...

A small medieval village on the river Cher with a lot of careful restoration of which l'Auberge forms a part....parking available in adjoining barn but dusty tarpaulin required or vehicle drowned in pigeon guano ! Friendly and attentive owners. Dinner was just o.k. Some nice and simple walks.

We found this little gem purely by accident having had to cancel and reorganise our hotel bookings through Spain and France owing to mechanical problems with our classic car. This was our last overnight stay before our ferry in Le Havre. We didn't know what to expect really but we were treated to a warm welcome when we arrived tired...

We stay in France a lot and have been on holiday here in the Loir et Cher for a couple of weeks. We wanted to try somewhere new, not too far away, and found this auberge in a French guide. Mennetou is on the Cher river and has some very interesting mediaeval buildings to visit. The auberge is mixed in...
