Stayed 4 nights. Nice surroundings, nice room, non-existent beach. Before our arrival they called us to ask when we were coming to have the room ready. We informed them that we should arrive around 11:30, we arrived at 12:00. When we arrived the room was not ready so they suggested that we should wait in the breakfast area until they prepare it. They told us that normally the check in is around 15:00 and we asked them why they didn’t inform us when they called us. They replied that this is a typical call they make with no practical meaning as we found out. They said that we had to wait for a short while until they prepare the room. In reality we had to wait for more than 1 hour and they charged us the water and the refreshments that we received while waiting for the room. Breakfast was included in our rate but without any notification we found out at checkout that they were charging the water (2€ per bottle) and the fruit juice (6€ each) during breakfast separately. We were also entitled to one bread basket each but they always brought half of them. Moreover one morning, 10 minutes before breakfast time was over, they told us that he had to leave our table because they needed it for another company. Surprisingly enough other tables were available at that time in the breakfast area. Very inhospitable, unprofessional people proving that a nicely decorated building doesn’t make a good hotel.

Response from Iro Gkrimpizi, Owner at ALERÓ Seaside Skyros Resort
Responded 5 Sep 2022
K. Nektarie & Efi, We are sorry that you were so affected by the extra charges beyond what you are entitled to. First we would like to inform you that the standard time for check-in worldwide is between 3-4pm. Especially in high season periods such as the week of the 15th of August, it is impossible for customers to enter their rooms earlier than 12pm since check-out is at 12pm.The day before arrival reception calls all our costumers that are expected to check-in to accommodate them as soon as possible. We are confident that entering your room before 1pm was the best our staff could do in order to thoroughly clean your room. On the first day of our guests’ breakfast we inform them on what is included in our breakfast experience. Our breakfast is a la carte and a bottle of water is provided per 2 people. Each person is entitled to a coffee or tea and fresh orange juice or smoothie, a basket of pastries and a choice from our menu or if they wish something tailored to their diet/appetite. Anything extra that you may want you is of extra charge and our waiters inform you every time you order something beyond what is provided. The majority of our customers with very few exceptions are more than happy with our services and the quality of our products. Regarding your table in the morning, unfortunately we have a boutique hotel and our space is limited. After 2 hours during full season, we hope it is understandable that we may ask you to move to our lounge chairs to accommodate all our rooms for breakfast. We hope that next year you will find a better fit for your holidays. ALERÓ Family

I have no words for this resort in Skyros island ! Amazing minimal style , spacious and clean room which even had a small gym ! Right next to the beach and 5 min from chora. At night it was great hanging out at the cute amerissa bar and enjoying their delicious cocktails! As for the alero team , everyone was super kind, friendly and helpful. Iro and Alexandra were great hosts with the best recommendations and always with a smile ! I totally suggest this hotel to everyone! Can’t wait to visit them again !

We had an unforgettable experience in this hotel of premium design and architecture which is a) combined harmoniously with the surrounding nature and b) respects the tradition of the island (two factors very important to me). It was the most appropriate occasion to forget the fast-paced city routine and "ground myself" listening to the sound of cicadas by the sea and eating delicious breakfast under a huge olive tree. What I really loved was the extra room-gym with full equipment for all types of exercise that helped me stay fit during vacation! I was thrilled by the hospitality, the impeccable cleanliness, and the perfect harmony between indoor and outdoor environment! Looking forward to our next summer visit in Alero!

Alero is a fantastic hotel! Very stylish, great interior design with love for details, with all conveniences that you need for a relaxing holiday, private, very clean and brandnew, and above all, the family owners and their team are all warm, caring and very welcoming. It is a real secret hide away. We will be back, no doubt!
