We stayed here on route to an event in nearby Awapuni. The price was cheap and previous reviews were ok. How wrong they were. We arrived to find our booking was in the bin and the date changed for two weeks time. Silvia (staff) was excellent and had a room we could use however it hadn't't been cleaned from two...

The manager is lovely and very friendly. My room was nice and spacious the bathroom was a little old and not so great. The windows are very old, thin and noisy! I didn't use the kitchen so I can't comment The wifi was not bad but not amazing

You can really appreciate how this would have been spectacular back in the 50's; A really beautiful Art Deco hotel in its prime. Pretty much agree with the other reviews, in that it's a far cry from its prime now. Stay here with the idea of a cheaper nights accommodation... Maybe close your eyes and visualise what it was like....

Stayed one night as had read in a magazine some years ago how it was been done up and the story and images intrigued me with its art deco beauty to want to see it for myself....but done up did not seem to be the case yet. But it was clearly in it's hay day a stunning hotel. I would...

Stayed in this place for two nights and couldn't get away fast enough. This place is no hotel, not even a motel, perhaps a hostel. The building is old and very little has been done to renovate it. The room was small and run down, the carpet dirty, no space to put down things, the one closet had no hangers...

Although didn't enjoy your stay with us, we do appreciate your feedback. Over the holidays we have done a lot of cleaning. Walls are done, carpets are cleaned and we even have a family room now. We also had a serious look at our website and the way the hotel was presented on websites and made some price range changes....

Putaruru's old lady is a place I have seen so many times and always wanted to see the inside of. The elegance of the art deco exterior is still apparent, especially in the reception area, but regrettably it is a faded elegance. Effort has been made to save the hotel from the ravages of time but now, I am sorry...

Well the Putaruru Hotel is like stepping back in time, from the green carpets, to the rooms that must be literally unchanged in many decades. If you like the idea of experiencing accommodation reminiscent of an old nursing hostel or psychiatric hospital, you will love it.

We had a great weekend, lovely food, great companie at a funky location with great hosts. The atmosphere was fantastic and the funky hotel led to this lovely family gathering. Is family friendly with lots of room for them to play.

Just had a lunch meal at the Bistro. Meal and Service excellent. Dining pleasant for casual dining. Wine list could certainly be improved. First wine ordered was unpalatable but it was changed with no problems at no extra charge. Have no recommendations for any other part of hotel as we did not view any.

This hotel's web-site says "The Putaruru Hotel extends a friendly welcome to all visitors to Putaruru." My experience was certainly not friendly. In October I made a confirmed booking for accommodation in February but one week before utilizing the accommodation I received an email from the hotel saying my booking was cancelled. Upon telephone enquiry I was told the hotel...

I did try to explain to you why the booking was cancelled and I did have alternative accommodation for you. You failed to give me an opportunity to discuss this with you, rather threatened to put up a poor review on trip advisor. Your booking was for a bowling tournament, and we had several other participants booked in with us...
