We booked the Sanctuary room for its view. There is no regrets even though the weather is trying to jeopardize our luxury. Whatever the weather is, the breathtaking view from the room is 2nd to none. The cheerful staff, the tranquil environment is the perfect place to recharge.
From Batam, we got a speedboat (PT Cahaya Mulya) from Telaga Punggur Batam to Tanjung Uban Bintan. The transport time was less than 30 minutes and less than 10SGD for two people. The only drawback was that you are packed like a sardine into a boat that holds approximately 50 people. NO social distancing. No regard for others. No wonder Indonesia is still having a problem with the Covid cases. The Residence offers transport from Tanjung Uban to the resort for 600000IDR which is expensive considering we got a driver for half that. Travel time, approx hour and a half to the resort. Upon arrival, we were welcomed by the staff - very friendly and courteous. All the staff wearing face masks, gloves, and face shields - thank you. Gorgeous room (307) with all the modern amenities. The view was picture-postcard perfect from the deck and plunge pool. We were close enough to the shoreline that even from lying in bed and with the sliding glass doors open, we could enjoy the waves on the beach and the sea breeze. The only annoyance was the neighbours with the screaming kids. I understand laughter and having fun - but screaming like banshees and the crying was unnecessary. Same during dinner. Clearly, their culture and manners lack the respect to be around others. Great food options, both western and asian. The wine list was extensive and expensive - more than 150% more than you would pay going out in Singapore. Overall - didn't want to leave.…
Very highly recommended. Friendly and cheerful staff, Comfortable room with good amenities, had a very relaxing stay. Nice pool, great for taking photos. Only downside I can see is the wifi strength in room.
I recently took my family to this secluded resort for a family bonding, and it exceeded all of our expectations. The resort is tucked away in a beautiful and peaceful location, perfect for getting away from it all. The accommodation was perfect for our family, with spacious and well-appointed rooms, and all the amenities we needed. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, and went out of their way to make sure our stay was enjoyable. We especially loved the amenities and activities offered, from the kids teepee, coloring sets, bedtime story with local sweet, In-villa Afternoon Tea to ATV to the nearby trails, it was a great way to spend quality time with my family. The food was delicious, and we particularly enjoyed dining on the Dining Room terrace overlooking the stunning views of their main Pool Bar. I highly recommend this resort to families looking for a relaxing and memorable getaway. We can't wait to go back once more!…
The resort is secluded ie. far away from the ferry terminals and Tanjung Pinang. It is therefore an option if you just wish to stay put in one place and relax. I had an overall pleasant stay, but would have relaxed better if I had more time there. For a short stay, it’d be wise to factor in the travel time and decide if it’s worth your while – it took us more than 4h of travel each way. Traveling to Tanah Merah ferry terminal, needing to arrive 1h before boarding, 1h on the fast ferry, then another 75min on the resort shuttle bus. As the resort is relatively new, the facilities and surrounds are mostly clean without much wear and tear. The bicycles need to be better maintained however, 2 bikes I tried had loose seats and a 3rd had a flat tire. As others have mentioned, be prepared to pay – the spa treatments and meals were expensive and the latter frankly overpriced. Dinner buffet at the Dining Room cost us approx. SGD$120 per person with average quality ingredients and the food was not even tasty. However the biggest let down was actually the service, which veered between surprisingly good and disappointingly bad. The pickup service at the Bintan ferry terminal was straightforward, as The Residence is the first lounge on the left after exiting customs. It was nice to get a cold towel, water, cookie and wifi on the shuttle bus. (However do note that these were absent on the return shuttle bus…) Unfortunately my problems with the service began from the check-in process, as the person checking us in said that we could not walk from our room to the spa, pool or restaurants but had to take the buggy! And that we should expect to wait 15-20 minutes each time for a buggy. I had requested in advance for a room nearer to these facilities, as one of us has difficulty walking long distances, so this was an unpleasant surprise. I then asked him to point out our room location on the resort map, but he could not tell us. Fortunately after arriving via buggy to our room, I realized that we had in fact been given a room close to the restaurants and pool. It is also possible to walk around the resort, and to climb a couple flight of stairs to get from the pool area to the reception. Despite booking for 3 persons, our room had only 2 sets of cups and glasses. It always took a fair bit of time, more than 30 minutes for our requests to be answered eg. extra cup, adaptor etc. There’s a huge bath tub in the room, but despite calling reception twice and waiting for more than an hour, nobody got back to me about the bath salts requested so I gave up and just showered. The pool area ran out of towels, but I could not get anyone to bring more towels. At check-in I was supposed to be notified via Whatsapp about the resort facilities and dinner menus but did not receive any messages even at 6pm after calling reception twice. Dinner staff had conflicting information about whether drinks were included in the buffet. On the other hand, almost all the staff were polite and smiling. I really liked that the staff we met around the resort took the initiative to ask us if we needed directions, booked yoga for me, and volunteered information about the fireworks. I also appreciated the manager attempting service recovery at check out by giving me a bag of bath salts. I really hope the staff can be better trained and the food improved, which would then elevate the resort closer to a true 5-star experience.…
I booked the beachfront one bedroom villa for 3 nights. Has a nice private pool. Great resort with enough amenities for a family to have fun and chill without having to venture elsewhere. We swam, hung out at our pool, jet skied and took the ATV on a swampy terrain. Friendly and helpful staff like Octa ( front desk) , Ros and Partono ( buggy service ), Renny ( Spa manager) , Henang ( ATV instructor), Merry and Tina from Richa Richa made it a great and memorable family vacation. We will definitely return fur another vacation.
I went there for 3 days during Chinese New Year and it was a pleasure! Staff is very kind and reliable. I am allergic to gluten and they were knowledgeable and careful. They even cooked gluten free bread which was delicious. Room are clean which is something very important. Would highly recommend it!
Such a wonderful experience. Beautiful people, and a beautiful place. I was made to feel so welcome by all of the staff. There’s lots of activities to get involved in, I spent most of the time at the pool bar! Made a lot of new friends. The Indonesian people are fantastic.
