Finally getting around to reviewing our stay at The Residence. We have stayed there previously during Chinese New Year - staying at the Deluxe Sea Villa, and recently enjoyed a 2 week stay at the Beachfront Villa.
Service and hospitality of the staff is exceptional, humbled by the friendliness and warmth of the staff. The exceptional service begins with a the pickup from the ferry terminal, with cookies, water, cold towel and wifi provided (Ross is a considerate driver). Hotel Check-in is efficient and professional - with a place to sit down and enjoy a complimentary welcome drink. GHA Discovery status was recognised and room upgrade was automatically provided along with welcome room amenities.
Daily WhatsApp messages are provided by the reception team, outlining the days activities, weather conditions, and is a great way to keep in communication with the receptions team.
Our daughter particular enjoyed the buggy service as well as spending time with the team at the Pool Bar. Both Giri and Ross went above and beyond to ensure she had a great time and helped keep her entertained whilst we enjoyed listening to the live band over dinner and drinks and romantic sunsets overlooking the pool and beach. The Indonesian fare served at Rica Rica was also very good. Sasa looked after us well when dining there.
One of the unique features is the Earth Basket, great for young kids to interact with the rabbits, fish, chickens, ducks, geese and plants and vegetables grown there. Kiki was very friendly and engaging with the children and parents.
The beach was clean and great for inter tidal walks - low tide you can walk very far out and see the fish, crabs and other marine life.
The dining room breakfast is well catered, impressive selection of food to choose from, along with local delicacies - we particularly enjoyed the Kopi Tarik. Salwa, Doni and Afandy in particular were very attentive and provided excellent hospitality.
The rooms themselves were very spacious and clean, in keeping with the relaxing and luxury feel of the resort. Jerwo was very accommodating and prompt with the occasional special requests that we had.
Lastly, it was good to see the GM Rajeev greeting guests, interacting with staff, and ensuring everyone is experiencing the best that the resort has to offer.
We are looking forward to enjoying more visits to The Residence in the near future - convenient escape from Singapore. Great place for families and couples to take time out, chill and enjoy the slower, friendlier pace of island life.

We had an enjoyable 2 night stay in a beachfront villa - we live in Singapore and it was a good short city detox break. If you're a couple looking for downtime, I would recommend getting a room with a private pool - the main pool can get busy with families with kids and may not always be conducive to reading / downtime.
There are a few restaurants in the resort and prices for food and alcohol are slightly lower than what you’d pay in Singapore. There are no shops that you can walk to from the resort and you may buy snacks and drinks from the departure side of Bintan ferry terminal. There wasn't really a beachfront for lounging and the sea seemed a little too choppy for swimming.
We travelled on economy class ferries to and from Bintan and the same resort transport was used for guests travelling by economy class and emerald class - i.e. emerald class passengers were waiting for economy class passengers. Transport to and from the resort takes 75 minutes which is alright if you’re staying a minimum of 2 nights.
The service is good by Indonesian standards and the staff are cheerful. We wanted to use our pre-purchased GHA Discovery Dollars to pay for our room but the resort wanted to charge a 4% processing fee. Despite this hiccup we had a good stay and hope to return.

Stayed 4d3n for a short getaway and was attracted by the consistent good reviews online. We were picked up by the hotel shuttle from BBT. The journey was 1h20 min.
We stayed in the upper garden suite. Huge room with living and balcony. There are 2 bikes for each room though buggy was available.
The resort was very spacious and spread out. It was during low occupancy so everything felt very private. We enjoyed the pool, rabbit house and walking on the beach at low tide.

We liked the hospitality of the staff, breakfast food and big room. The downsides are the mosquitoes and long journey from BBT (but you get rewarded with a serene environment once you arrive). Also not enough hooks in the bathroom, and the only hooks are right above the toiletries bottles so we could not hang any towels or clothes there at all.

If you want to just chill out and relax, you should stay here! The staff were all delightful - cheerful and attentive, without being intrusive - and the food was excellent in all the restaurants (including the fantastic buffet breakfasts). We upgraded to a Deluxe Beachfront Villa on arrival, which was amazing: a beautiful bedroom and en suite, lots of wardrobe space, separate (huge) sitting room and private pool with a private grassy area and view of the beach beyond. The standard bedding and pillows were excellent, but there was an additional pillow menu if you have specific preferences. We were encouraged to use the WhatsApp "butler" which a great help for any questions or for ordering an ice bucket at sundown! Each room has two bicycles for zipping around the compound if you prefer not to walk. There are no other bars, restaurants or shops nearby so the resort is very much a destination on its own. There are various water sports available plus a daily snorkelling trip to a nearby island. We had planned to do excursions but enjoyed the resort so much that we did virtually nothing! However, the hotel did kindly organise a (fascinating) visit to a fishing village on stilts and Bintan museum, plus a local cookery lesson, which was great fun (and then we ate the food!). The spa was wonderful! There is also a sweet "farm" near the children's club where you can feed the chickens and rabbits. The hotel also provided complimentary transfers to and from the Singapore ferry, complete with refreshing towels, water and cookies!

Location: Recommend to take a ferry to Bandar Bentan Telani via Bintan Resort ferries as the overall trip is shorter that if you take the ferry to Tanjung Pinang. the hotel also provides a shuttle from the ferry terminal so you may just email them your ferry itinery and they will come fetch you. Travelling from the ferry terminal takes about an hour to the resort. The resort is situated in a remote part of Bintan so while it is good for a quiet getaway, you will be quite reliant on the resorts food offerings. (No Gojek food deliveries to this area) so some cup noodles might do you good if you're on a budget.
Hotel and amenities: We stayed at the 1 room beach villa with our baby. Very impressed with the baby amenities provided (Bottle sanitiser / baby bath tub / baby cot / various amenities). The room was clean and smelled great plus the free buggy services provided meant that you need not walk much. I believe this buggy service is available to all the room types. They have baby sitting services as well (chargeable) so you can still spend some alone time with your partner if required. Complementary filtered bottle water was also provided so you need not buy water there.
Food and miniBar: Food offerings in restaurants were great and were decently priced. Minibar drinks ranged from 20kIDR (softdrinks) to 100kIDR (alcohol). My recommendation is to bring your own drinks / snacks as a bag of chips that can be bought from their store costs about 100kIDR per bag. TIP: when ordering room service, you need not stick to the room service menu. You can request for the menus of all the restaurants and call the concierge to order. They will make the necessary arrangements to prepare and send these items to your room.
Attractions and activities: Swimming, play ground for the kids, watersports (Kayaking, windsurfing, jetskis), rabbit farm, private BBQ, Game areas for majong, ping pong, bicycles for cycling, Gym, massage
Staff Service: The Services provided by the staff was exceptional. From the moment you get picked up from the terminal to the moment you get dropped off after your vacation. All the staff were friendly and were willing to go the extra mile to assist you. Special thanks to JARWO and his team for finding and returning my wife's phone whom she had accidentally left behind. Whilst on the ferry back, she realized that she had left her phone behind. As we had Jarwo's number, we contacted him seeking his help to which he swiftly located the phone and kept me updated on their plans to ship it back. We collected the phone from the ferry terminal the next day and he still followed up with us if we had received it. I believe its because of great service like this which makes this hotel stand out from the others. You can stay here knowing that if anything goes wrong, you can trust the staff to help you.

We did appreciate our 8 days stay at The Residence Bitan. The transportation from the harbor to the hotel were perfectly managed by the hotel, as soon as we were in the coach we received a cooky and a bottle of water, then the check-in was as easy as possible made in a nice open lobby. Then we discovered our lovely and quiet beach front villa with its swimming pool. All our stay was so great due to the kindness of the different teams where ever we went and their willingness to make sure that all were fine for us. As the hotel is located on a large parcel, it was easy to go to the different places, I mean spa, fitness club, beach, swimming pool, bar, restaurants with the two bicycle at our disposal. The last but not the least, actually my wife eats gluten free and lactose free which is always a challenge for the cooking teams in all the places were we have been in the world and this is the first time where she did not feel any pain due to the food. You have to that in all the restaurants of the hotel, the teams were keen to propose specific dishes at all the meals to fit with her allergies. Of course we enjoyed the bar, the view to the sea from the bar, the dishes as we had lunch at this place every day but also the cocktails and the atmosphere. By the way, every evening a singer and a guitarist played the classic of the international music. In very simple terms, it was an awesome stay and we expect to be back there as soon as we can. We booked the Residence for a 5 day trip. We took the ferry from Singapore to Bintan which worked well. ( Note there is an option for a 7 day visa at 25300Rupiah. On arrival in Bintan we were greeted by the driver of our complimentary pick up service who provided cool towels, cookies and water. The drive to the resort took around an hour. The Residence is in a remote location but is a supurb hotel. On arrival we were greeted with drinks and began the check in process which was efficient, We were then taken to our seaview room in a golf buggy. Our room was very spacious and spotless. There was also a complimentary bowl of fruit awaiting us in our lounge.
The restauants and bars provided us with an interesting range of food which was well cooked, presented and we enjoyed it. In the main restaurant the food did take some time to arrive but we were in no hurry.
The staff are all very friendly and could not do enough for us.
The bikes parked outside our appartment were a real bonus along with the complimentary umbrellas.
A very enjoyable stay for us and we would recommend the hotel to friends.

The food offered at all 3 restaurants (Rica Rica, The dining room and the pool bar) are good, which is important since we're pretty much spending all the time in the resort. I think the ala carte food options at the dining room are actually quite great and perhaps better value than Rica Rica. The pool bar has western options and the portions are generous. Drinks are on the sweet side.
We used the pool very frequently, both at night and in the day, and it was very nice. There is always fresh towels. We enjoyed a very good live band that is performing in the pool bar on Saturday night, while enjoying a cool and less crowded pool.
My parents (>60) enjoyed taking walks along the private beach, cycling around (2 provided for each room), and playing table tennis at the games room. We taught them how to play pool as well. There are many other game options like mahjong, darts, and foosball.
There are many paid water activities, tours and spa options which we didn't get to as we are already enjoying ourselves with what's available. If we ever come back again we would definitely try those.
The only downside is the location as it is another 75min ride (provided by the resort) to the resort ferry terminal on the North side of the island. But it was worth the extra time getting here.

No, it doesn't but u can request for it to be sent to your room. I did that recently . The resort is very accommodating with all their guests' requests.
Hi Amelia, I’m sorry I have only just seen this. From my experience, the nearest shopping centre is in Tanjung Pinang. It’s about 40 minutes from The Residence. There are lots of smaller shops to get supplies, in the nearest town, which is about 10 minutes away. There’s a 7/11 and other shops as well. It’s a bit late, but I hope you enjoyed your time there.
