This hotel exceeded my expectations in every way! They covered every sensation with magnificent landscaping, aromatic flowers and chirping bird sounds. They anticipated my needs before I even knew them myself! Would highly recommend!

A 3 star hotel masquerading as a five star hotel. There is Construction everywhere, with loud noise through much of the day and an eyesore. The food is below par - lines as breakfast to be seated if you can imagine than. The fine dining restaurant food is mostly a fried mess. They don’t have vehicles on call despite being in the middle of nowhere and use unreliable cabs. Amateur hour. I assume this is just a front to sell the other homes on the property.

Arrival: Staff member at gate could not identify me by name but eventually was able to confirm I was a guest when providing confirmation number of my booking. Staff at the entrance of the hotel extended a warm welcome. Ambassador Bonvoy recognition: upgrade to a larger corner room. 2pm late check out request honored. Continental breakfast buffet only - the only St Regis property I have stayed at that doesn't extend the full buffet as part of the elite breakfast benefit. Room was large and spacious with a tranquil outdoor patio area that unfortunately was impacted due to the loud construction noise from new buildings being erected on site. Thankfully the room had very good soundproofing so while the outdoor area couldn't really be used during the day, at least the interruptions weren't a problem when indoors. Good space for work or dining though a lack of chairs for relaxation especially given the outdoor area was off limits due to drilling. Loved the massive bathroom space. The spa area is lovely and the staff are very nice. I had booked a fairly expensive spa package well in advance and arrived half an hour early for it. Upon arrival I was told that the two nail treatments I had booked would not be happening. I understand that stuff happens but they had almost the entire morning to contact me about it. They extended a discount for service recovery, which was a nice gesture for the inconvenience and were flexible about adjusting the remaining treatments so I could maximize preferences. I ordered food and drinks at the bar. I didn't have a reservation and even though I just planned on being quick and arrived before opening, I was not permitted to sit at any of the tables (all reserved) and could only sit at the bar or outside. I found sitting outside with food to be fairly stressful with the opportunist birds that you have to keep watch out for so I preferred to be inside. By the time I left only 2 or 3 tables were occupied. It seemed silly to refuse to seat someone who was going to be quick because tables were booked for later. The food was surprisingly tasteless given how much oil appeared to be in it. The bar tenders were consistently helpful and the service was excellent. Overall a nice property with some imperfections that probably aren't material to management because they are crazy busy with enough guests as it is.

Room was amazing, but not 14,000$ amazing for 4 nights. We had a butler. We would call for hime to schedule cars to pick us up or make reservations and he would never make them. We were supposed to be picked up at 3pm one day during and outing, and ended up having to Uber back to the resort. They never showed up to get us. Front desk and management could care less. Tell they our situation and they wouldn't do anything or defend their employees.

Skimming TripAdvisor, you will find largely glowing reviews for this St. Regis peppered with a few warnings. I'm not saying stay away, but do believe the warnings. If this stay is a big reward for yourself or a special occasion that you will be looking forward to for months - consider something else or tempering your expectations. It's a gorgeous property, lovely staff, amazing location - but do not expect to be blown away given the namesake or the room rates, and expect service hiccups. Unfortunately we had a number of (minor yet irritating) service issues, seemingly due to understaffing (despite the hotel seemingly being around 25% capacity, based on pool/beach chair usage). The food is priced appropriate to a resort of this caliber (which is to say, not cheap) and forgettable. If you are a couples looking for a relaxing escape - this is decidedly a resort for young families and large groups. I won't comment much on prices or status recognition. I think many negative reviews are expecting too much. It's a St. Regis. It's not supposed to be cheap. Overall, the quality of the property and the food was acceptable (with some caveats). Status Recognition: As a platinum, we were upgraded from a garden view to ocean view room on the 2nd (top) floor. Our view was stunning and we met other guests who were only gold and did not get the upgrade. They thanked us for our status, gave us a welome drink and followed up in the room later with a handwritten note and package of local coffee to take home. Continental breakfast was offered as the Platinum amenity with a $9 up-charge per person for the full breakfast buffet. The property: Hands down, one of the most beautiful properties we've ever seen. The room was massive (especially the overhead shower). I routinely entered the closet and bathroom and vice/versa because the room was so big, I'd get lost! The balcony with view was gorgeous. The tiered pools are stunning with their backdrop of palm trees. The beach is amazing with fine sand and complete privacy. The pool daybeds need refurbishing as many are torn and tattered. The pool area is stocked with sunscreen and aloe vera - a nice touch. Side note: the power outlets in the room were awkwardly laid out. Bring an extra long laptop cord. They make up for this by providing bedside lamps with an outlet built in - however, they were worn loose from usage and I believe burnt out my phone charger. I'd avoid them. The staff: THEY ARE SO WONDERFUL. I can not be more clear about this. My issues were not their fault. This is the nicest, hardest working staff you will ever meet. Every single person will stop what they are doing to greet you as you walk around the property. Unfortunately, there just don't appear to be enough of them to deliver the level of personal service one expects at a St. Regis. Special shout-out to Jonathan the butler and Coral and Yolanda by the pool. They are excellent. The vibe: We found it disappointing that despite the 3 massive pools, not one is designated as adults-only. We typically assume these resorts cater to couples and older adults, but our stay featured 80%+ families with small children and teenagers horseplaying in the pool area. There was no effort on the part of the hotel to discourage children splashing, throwing balls around us and diving from pool to pool. They actually sell pool toys and balls. On several occasions, the hot tub had unsupervised children roughhousing. Coconuts were frequently falling from the trees onto the walkways (they should be more aggressively groomed) and children spent an entire day screaming and smashing them open on the sidewalk. This is not the ambiance one expects at a St. Regis. Side note: the pool music is a bizarre mix of bland yet unavoidable elevator music. An instrumental of Crazy Town's "Butterfly" drove me particularly nuts. It's not cool, it's not fun for kids, it has no energy, and yet it's not mellow enough to fade into the background. Weird choices. There is no bar scene. There are a handful of stools by the pool bar and another at the main building bar. Both were empty the entire time we were there. This is not a resort where people mingle. Butlers:
We've never stayed at a St. Regis so we were not sure what to expect from the very hyped butlers. We didn't have many requests, so they just seem like normal hotel staff - if you need more towels, or a reservation at the hotel restaurant, etc. They do bring you fresh coffee delivered at your preferred time - which is very nice, though we were completely skipped one day. It seems these butlers are over capacity. On a number of occasions, we were unable to receive adequate response from the butlers via text or the Marriott app. On our day of arrival, I asked for the location of the nightly welcome champagne and never received a response. On another, I requested a dinner reservation and did not receive a response until I asked again 40 minutes later. When I requested late checkout, I was told it was noted and would be followed-up on in the morning - I had to follow up for an answer. One day, our coffee delivery never arrived. After 20 minutes, I texted the butlers to let them know I was no longer going to wait and go to Seagrapes, and the response I received was “Wonderful” with no apology or acknowledgement of the inconvenience. When I asked what happened, the response was “I don’t know, I just started my shift.” Dining: Dining was generally slow and missing details. No bun/croutons types of requests were overlooked. One night, I ordered take-out from the St Regis Bar and my salad had no dressing, and I didn't realize until I was back at the room. At Paros, the server never asked how we wanted our steak prepared (it arrived an acceptable medium, but it occurred to us after the fact that he never asked). Speaking of Paros - skip it. We felt a guilt avoiding it - like we're here, let's splurge one night. It was so sleepy in there and the food was not crazy expensive, but certainly not cheap and absolutely unremarkable. The St. Regis bar has the best food on the property with the most diverse menu, and is fairly priced. At one point, I began monitoring ticket times. Our salads by the pool took 25 minutes on one occasion. At breakfast, omelettes took 15 minutes and I could see them sitting under a heat lamp for most of that time. At no point during these orders were more than 1/4 of tables at Seagrapes or pool chairs occupied. The Seagrapes breakfast is quite good and even at full price of $35, a reasonable value. The hot items were tasty and switched up daily. Anyone complaining is wrong. Pool & Beach Staff: Every single time we visited the pool or beach, we stood by for 5-10 minutes until someone came by to acknowledge and help us set up our chairs. There appears to be only one person managing the pool. I noted an empty plastic cup that sat on the edge of the pool for over 24 hours. I also took a photo of Iguana droppings that sat at the edge of the pool, in the sun, for two full days until fully petrified. Every time we entered the hot tub, we would find 1-2 plastic cups at the bottom. Abandoned towels were left in piles on desirable chairs for an entire day, leaving us to guess whether we should take them over or not. Housekeeping: One day, housekeeping left our towels behind in the foyer of our room and were not picked up again until the next day. On another, housekeeping was skipped entirely. At 3:30 I contacted the butlers to ask what the status was, and 15 minutes later they let me know that the staff had not yet reached my building. That seems awfully late. When housekeeping arrived, they did not have supplies and looked confused. They asked me if I was calling for turndown service. I told them my room hadn’t been serviced at all and they looked surprised. So the story didn't add up. Another afternoon, I returned to our room and found a full garbage bag, broom and clump of hair from the room next door in the shared doorway. No one from housekeeping was around - about 10 minutes later they came back to finish. After they left, much of the hair was still there and I had to ask the butlers to send someone to come and clean it. Management: A disappointing response followed by a good one. After the housekeeping issues, my frustrations were mounting, so I spoke with the manager to let her know about these issues. She was polite, heard my concerns and promised to make an effort to make the rest of my trip right, no one ever followed up with me to see if things were better. To their credit, they eventually made good. I filled out the Marriott survey on a Sunday after returning home, and within hours received a message from the front office director with a thoughtful response that I found satisfactory. I think they know about their issues, and they are working on it. I just think people need to calibrate their expectations accordingly.

Came here to provide my wife with a luxurious vacation. I have stayed in over 600 hotels and found the staff to be the nicest and best of anywhere I have ever been. The property is beautiful and offers a lot of standard amenities even though they do not have daily activities, entertainment, or other offerings you see in comparable resorts. The downside is the property is not close to any restaurants and without renting a car you have to take a taxi, which is a little pricey. The staff and property are definitely a 10, but the onsite restaurants were actually terrible. It is really a shame that Management has not addressed the issue as we heard everyone at the pool complaining about the same thing. Also, the staff is aware of this. If you are interested in a beautiful location and great staff, but don't care about how bad the food is this is the place to go. I hope they take care of this issue to make the property the complete experience in the future. Having stayed in St. Regis properties this is not typical and an issue for future stays here by us. I could not rate this less than 4 stars because the property is so nice, and the staff is so great. The food at best though is between a 1 and 2. It's too bad they have not addressed this.

I have never written a review in 20 yrs of traveling, but I've thought about how much I relied on them for PR, so here we go: 1st and foremost: Alexandra. Kind, happy, relaxed, funny, and I wish I could remember tbe name of the woman server who worked with her, because I adore them both. Above and beyond in service department. I waited 4 hours for my room, and Alexandra checked on it constantly and even better checked on us. The female (whose dad lives in Texas to identify her!) offered her sunglasses off her face when I lost mine in the ocean (which of course i declined). The "butler" service was awful. Ignored texts, and some flat out statements that just didn't come to fruition, if you get my meaning. Sea Grapes is amazing. Javier on breakfast service is a gem. The buffet was better than expected. I won't name names of bad experiences because I can't mess w people's livelihood, but 1 bartender was rude enough for us to leave. Cracking jokes at my expense, speaking spanish about us not knowing I understand, which I blame on youth and inexperience. Food and drink ordered at the pool never came even though we paid for a cabana. We never went back. I'm vegan, and ate a lot of pizza-which was actually really good. Paras had rice as my server's suggestion. Underwhelmed especially for the price. My husband, a carnivore, loved the the food he had but wished there were more options too. There were way more families than expected. Our 1st trip in 20 yrs w/o kids, so hard not to notice. Not a bad thing. We even opted for 1 more night than we planned to see San Juan viejo. MANY people told us to go to the Ritz Carlton instead, but I did like the emptiness at the beach and pool. I appreciate the privacy the St. Regis adopts. I loved Puerto Rico, and will return. Definitely on the fence about where we will stay. We were told our room was available ground floor only, and that turned out not to be true. We could've easily moves our dates. As much as I loved our proximity to everything, I was very uncomfortable with ppl walking by my bedroom or patio and swinging in what felt like my front yard. Our room was clean, although the bathtub is dirty/sticky but not the fault of staff. If you can, go to the spa. That was the best surprise of the trip. You do not need to book a service to visit it, and you could spend hours. The massage was phenomenal. The grounds back there even better. I would suggest the St. Regis do a better job of letting guests know what is available on property. Obviously, like thousands have said there should be another restaurant or keep Sea Grapes open. The grounds had hard working people all the time, and I loved the few cats I encountered! I love the island, the people, and can't wait to return. Whether St. Regis is worth the money is debatable.

Our stay at the St Regis resort in Puerto Rico was amazing! We look forward to returning. The staff and the accommodations are wonderful and you truly get what you pay for in this regard. Two of the restaurants on the property (St Regis Bar and Paros) were as expected. We felt that the food was above average but overpriced. Our rooms were spotless. The staff was fantastic- from being greeted by the friendly valet, to the hostesses at the restaurants, to the housekeeping staff……..Wow! As a foodie family, we love a good breakfast, and the vast choices here did not disappoint. The one restaurant that we were very unhappy with was the “Beach Club”. We felt that the food was low quality and they charged exorbitant prices. Our daughter became ill after our dinner there…we will not go back. We are looking forward to our next trip to Puerto Rico and really can’t wait to return to this resort!

This resort deserves its 5 star rating. It was perfection. The rooms are beautiful and the pools and beach are just lovely. We loved walking every morning on the walking trails and the lake was fun for kayaking. The food was delish and we ate both on site and in San Juan and in the Bahia beach area. Food on site was very good. The bar sushi was excellent. the service was impeccable. Tennis was great as was the spa.
