We visited Mugilu during 1st week of March 2022. The homestay experience was memorable & excellent. It provided perfect ambience to unwind and be close to the nature. You wake up to sounds unfamiliar in city environment like birds chirping which are pleasant & soothing. Also enjoyed the morning and evening walks in the grasslands and trails. The staff is helpful and took care of us including our pet dog. The food was homely and tasty. Would definitely plan to revisit.
This one was on our list for a very long time. Finally we got the opportunity. 60+ bird species ticked in a short time. Also found the elusive Indian flyin lizards. The coffee estate is growing as wild as it can be thus the bird life. The food and hospitality stands out. One of the finest meals we have had at homestays in Karnataka. And we have been to many and hence feel qualified to comment on the food. The view from cottages is outstanding.
There is nothing special about this homestay. The food was average. Rooms are ok with a balcony facing forest. Hygiene was average. We have stayed in other homestays but we found this one could improve in terms of food, hygiene.
Mugilu is an ideal setting for those who seek to connect and be with nature. Located a little outside the town of Sakleshpura, this humble abode is a haven to break free from the shackles of the stressful city life. Nestled amidst a coffee plantation are five cottages, a cute dining space, four friendly dogs, a small band of people who run the place efficiently and effortlessly. The homestay is inclusive of all three meals, pet friendly, and is close to several tourist attractions. The cottages are simple, clean, and have an old architectural charm to them. Their menu is curated with simple, delicious, and healthy dishes. But I would tip my hat towards the meadow that is literally just a 2-minute walk from the property. The view is breathtaking. One can spend an entire day just walking around the property. Also, do check out the small water stream further down the meadow which is a half hour walk from Mugilu. The whole way is picturesque and beautiful.…
Absolutely loved this place. Away from crowd, they don't encourage crowd in the property. Just five cottages with splendid views. Ample birds to wake you up. Ample space to walk around the property. Loved walking out in mist on adjacent grasslands. Their dog kept us company. Has view from room, balcony and everywhere. Not to forget the homely food and Karnataka specialities like Kadubbu, akki roti on the menu.
We had a wonderful stay. It's perfect for people who prefer homestays. Food was served on time. Fresh, very tasty, mildly spiced - even the kids enjoyed it. Rooms are big and maintained well. Bathrooms have hot water. Few spiders and lizards managed to come in but we got used to them over four days. The balcony view is lovely. The plantation has good trailes for walking. Our kids loved exploring it and took us twice every day. We saw a lot of birds, insects and beautiful sunsets. Chandan and his staff Anand and Guddu are very courteous. The place is run efficiently and the staff are always available for any help. Would highly recommend Mugilu and hope to come back here quickly.
What a beautiful place for a socially distanced getaway ! I'm glad we spent the last weekend @ Mugilu amidst such an earthy setting and we felt safe with all the precautions taken by the hosts and even other guests. The food is soo good and prepared fresh. Mugilu is surrounded by lush green valleys covered in mist and it made me so happy! A special shoutout to the friendly Gunddu who is the inhouse guide in exchange for petting & head scratches :) Saklespur is such a paradise on earth !!!
Very peaceful ambience.people who love Pets can find a heart full welcome from the pets at mugilu, loved the place, care taken and food was very well arranged. Given no doubt I would again visit soon to connect with nature.
I was looking to explore the lush green jungles of Sakleshpur and checking out the routes from Bengaluru, when i stumbled upon an article in TBHP about Mugilu which got me interested. It is a hidden gem for people looking for electronic detoxification. A homestay/ resort where owners have not tampered with the natural beauty of the coffee plantation. Beautifully maintained minimalistic, neat and clean rooms overlooking dense forestation. Food was homely, wholesome and quite tasty. No tv, erratic internet connectivity adds to the magic. An absolute delight for bird watchers, as soon as the dawn breaks the cacophony of birds surround you. Birders can spend hours peering through their field glasses and cameras. A place to carry your Kindle, talk to each others, go on long walks into the adjoining meadows and immerse in the nature. Three adorable dogs Shunti, Zoey and Gundu keep you entertained during the stay.…
Amazing place to be. If someone is looking for a place which is calm quiet and away from all nonsense of city life then Mugilu is the best. Apart from being in natures lap the quality of service, the friendly staff and Home made food add grandeur to the stay. The 3 watch dogs are a good companion when you roam around the forest alone. Worth staying.
