We have travelled to the Maldives over 10 times , having stayed at bothFour Seasons Reethis Rah, Gili etc to name a few we can definitely say Its not worth the price. The only great thing is the villas. The areAMAZING. The island even though built from scratch has no beaches apart from what looks like a beach club with pool tables restaurants bars crowds overlooking the lake( lagoon) The shape is unfortunate, with one "motorway" running from one side to the other. Biking experience isn't relaxing as builders, buggies fly by at speed . The greenery is just not there to provide the shade, but I guess the time will help in that respect. Service is patchy to say the least. Lots of staff told us there were not happy and found working conditions to be average . The management isn't present on site at all times. The resort feels busy(we stayed in October ). Crowds at breakfast. Housekeeping is excellent . Butlers are grumpy . Food is ok I guess but when you compare to Reethi Rah is just very average. Pizzas were better in Waldorf if it matters))) All of my children were bitten by mosquitos so they do not control the mosquitos situation well at all. Mosquito repellent in villa were a year out of date and we saw tens of mosquitos hovering above it . So we were bitten in restaurants (all apart from one in bushes), and at night in the villa . Thankfully the resort moved us to a water villa from half water half garden villa at no extra cost to us. We were eternally grateful. Restaurant design and setting was not great. Prices in restaurants however are higher than Reethi Rah or Landaa. ( have just come back so making no mistake) Half board offering is poor again compared to One and Only. Most of this can be fixed with good management. What cannot be changed is the island and the way it way build. No privacy apart from when you are in the villa. People everywhere . Beaches are impossible to use and as corals are very sharp. Only the beach club is half suitable for swimming. Its busy, water is dull and murky compared to Reethi Rah its worlds apart in terms of beauty. Doesn't look Maldivian at all. The kids club is unsuitable for under 8in my opinion. Not enough supervision given the fact they use swimming pool daily. Facilities are fantastic. Lots of activities most of which are paid for. So when it gets busy staff are just not there to watch the younger ones (my daughter was 4,5) and older boys push them about.I had to get my teen to supervise the little one at all times. Once I found them in the pool around 10-12 children playing and splashing , pushing each other on the slide, with no adult in sight. While for 12 year olds it might be ok, I would not let my little one stay there . Four Seasons and One and Only do this property. No comparison Its not a bad property as such if you enjoy staying at the villa and swim in your private pool. if it was for the price of lets say Conrad or Jumeirah , well, ok. However Reethi Rah is cheaper( never thought I could say that) and what you get is soooo much more. Sorry this was a fail for us. PS The transfer yacht is new and luxurious ..

Hotel's Favourite
I normally don't write reviews, but this property deserves the effort. There are many positive things to say about the Waldorf Astoria Maldives. We've stayed at other Waldorfs as well as other Maldive properties, and the level of customer service at this particular property is superior and welcoming. First, the yacht ride to the island was perfect, our yacht concierge Sam made us feel right at home. She set the tone for the rest of our stay with her wonderful and friendly service. Our personal concierge Saddam was also fantastic, ensuring we got reservations to all the restaurants we wished and checking on us everyday at breakfast. The staff at the restaurants were all very kind and fun as well! They made us the best meals. Our compliments to the talented Culinary Director VJ and his colleagues of amazing chefs, Sam, Hayat and Addi and our servers Bilhy, Shazeel and Husynu, all whom took great care of us. It makes a huge difference to the quality of our vacation when the staff are genuinely kind and welcoming, taking time to remember our names and likes and chatting with us. It goes without saying that the property and rooms are beautiful. We loved the traditional thatched roof of our villa and the high ceilings. I spent everyday solo snorkeling on our reef just off our infinity pool. There is an abundance of large, vibrant and colorful marine life just 20 meters where the reef drops deep into the ocean beyond. It was such a thrill to be able to wake up and jump into the warm Laccadive Sea and swim with large parrot fish and other creatures every morning. Thank you Etienne Delançon for managing such a "fantastique" team. We really enjoyed everything about our stay, the privacy, the food, the well appointed villa and location and the amazing and warm staff. We hope to return soon.

The villas are of very high quality and the range of restaurants allows the guest to have many different dining options with many "branded" and well-known restaurant chains. The staff are all exceptionally well trained and helpful.

We are vegan and it took a while for us to be taken care of like we should have at this type of resort. My friends had different issues and all of them complained about the food and the restaurants. It took time for the manager of the hotel to come to us and take care of the different issues we had. I would generally expect more from what is supposedly one of the best hotels in the world

From start to end this hotel was above 5stars. We chose location so we can take a bit from the airport as opposed to sea plane. We were greeted and transported in an amazing yacht with great onboard service. Ride was nice and smooth with bathroom and bedroom to freshen up in and beverages served. We arrived to a warm welcome. We stayed in villas on the beach as opposed to in the water. Both were amazing. Villas are beautiful, spacious and luxurious. Your outdoor space is also amazing. Bikes are provide to each villa so was nice way to transport around. Breakfast was vast. Hotel has many eateries so we enjoyed many of them. Beach area and pools have great food and drinks. Lots of activists to partake in if you wish or just laze around and get spa treatment. We loved every moment. Highly recommend and would definitely return.
