Our stay at the Waldorf Astoria Maldives was nothing short of a dream come true. We stayed 5 nights in Villa 119 for our honeymoon and babymoon and really appreciated all the little details that made our experience truly unforgettable.
The genuine warmth and hospitality of the island staff truly defined our experience. Saddam, our personal concierge, was an absolute gem. Not only did he seamlessly arrange restaurant bookings for us, but he also graciously chauffeured us to and from each location, imparting invaluable tips along the way to ensure we experienced the very best the island had to offer.
As for Dhiras, his meticulous care and attention to detail transformed our room into a sanctuary. His artistry with towel arrangements — from elegant swans to intricate boats and heartfelt designs — was a testament to his dedication and passion. He consistently made our room feel like a home away from home and always took the time to check with us to make sure we had everything we needed. We also had some great conversations with Dhiras.

In December 2023, I had the pleasure of experiencing the Waldorf Astoria Maldives, and it truly stands out as a haven of luxury and relaxation. Awarding it 4 out of 5 stars, my stay was marked by the sheer opulence of the overwater water bungalow with a pool – the largest villa I've ever encountered in the Maldives.
The island, having opened just a few years ago, maintains a pristine appearance, radiating cleanliness and elegance in every corner. International guests are spoiled for choice with a selection of 11 restaurants, each offering a delightful culinary journey.
Our island host, Boos, exemplified relaxation and professionalism, enhancing our experience with his wealth of knowledge. The entire staff demonstrated an exceptional level of friendliness and training, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable stay. Even with a fully booked island hosting approximately 350 guests, the resort managed to provide a sense of privacy in all areas.
Nature's beauty is abundant, although it's worth noting that the island, while diligently sprayed to combat mosquitoes, remains expansive, offering a unique tropical experience. For those seeking respite, the water bungalows in the deep-water area provide ample shade on the terrace, creating the perfect environment for relaxation.
The central pools cater to both adults and families, offering a wonderful opportunity to swim while observing the ocean and the lively activities along the nearby beach. If you’re coming to experience the luxurious rooms after looking at the price i am afraid you’ll be disappointed especially their bathrooms. Inadequate water pressure in bathroom that would least expect from maldives resort of this caliber. There was a constant humming noise of the motor from the bathroom inside our room that hampered with out night sleep. Really poor bathroom engineering overall from their quality of bathroom fixtures to the slow flow of water. And again not to forget the noises of motors in room, with their ac units and pumping units just behind the bedroom making unbearable noise. Very disappointed to say the least wasnt a seamless experience at all. Wont lie they made efforts to rectify when asked but for the price that you pay you arent going on va vacation to get the engineering fixed and efforts really go to vain when there is no solution provided.
In my ongoing 5 nights stay There is untimely cleaning of my rooms always found a housekeeping staff in my room whenever i returned from breakfast/dinner/lunch which was never a case in anyother resorts i have styed in past.
No personalized service like the other resort of this caliber in maldives, this is definitely not the top 3 or best resorts in maldives as advertised elsewhere if you’re coming to experience a LUXURY stay its NO in my opinion in actuality you are compromising more than you experience luxury.

My wife and I came here during April to celebrate our honeymoon, and our only qualm is that we eventually had to leave!
From the moment you touch down in Malé, the first thing you'll notice is the quality of service. There's a genuine desire to making your stay as enjoyable as possible, and it's present from start to finish.
When you first arrive at the property, it's impossible not to take in the beautiful surroundings; and although largely manmade, the natural beauty shines through.
We originally booked the King Reef Villa, but were upgraded to King Overwater Villa, which was an absolute treat. The room itself is massive, with a sprawling, vaulted ceiling highlighted by modern fixtures and furnishings with an overall cozy vibe. The exterior is seemingly equal to, if not bigger, in size with countless places to sit and relax. As cliche as it sounds, pictures really cannot do it justice.
The two stars of our stay were our personal concierge, Saddam, and our room attendant, Dhiras. Both worked tirelessly to make sure our every need was met and even then went above and beyond our expectations.
Saddam was our initial contact and gave us a tour of the property and our room. He helped us make dinner reservations, schedule beach activities, and everything in between. At least once a day he would track us down, whether at breakfast or dinner, and check in to ensure everything was going well. He was an absolute delight to have as our personal concierge and you'd be very lucky to have him.
Dhiras was essentially the caretaker of our room he put every hotel cleaning service we had in the past to shame. From the first day, we could tell he genuinely wanted us to have as happy and memorable a stay as possible. When we first arrived, he had arranged our bed to say "Happy Honeymoon". He would clean our room twice daily, provide us with treats, and make animals out of towels. He enjoyed providing surprises for us as well. For example, when we came inside from the pool, we discovered a bubble bath waiting for us. The guy is simply a treasure and we cannot say enough good things about him.
Long story short, WA Ithaafushi is a world-class property with equally world-class service. It simply does not get better than this, and with that said we cannot wait to return. This is far from a value destination, but it feels worth every single penny.

We have always wanted to come to the Maldives and decided to stay here for our 20 year anniversary. Before coming here, my AMEX travel manager pulled up some high end options as choices, and I did a deep dive of research and chose the warldorf based on countless reviews. Well I’m glad I did my research this place did not disappoint. From the moment you arrive to when you leave the service is unparalleled the food options are plentiful there are 11+ restaurants we never got bored of the food and in actual fact, I was worried my husband would get bored and he absolutely did not. we loved cycling to breakfast every day. The snorkelling was unbelievable. The hydrotherapy at the spa and the massages were also incredible often many times when you travel and go to the spa the therapist is not as experienced and you don’t end up having a good massage. Out therapist knew what they were doing and I actually fell asleep during my massage, and she hit all the right spots. There are plenty of sports and activities we loved playing padel every day before lunch and our villa was aesthetically beautiful modern and incredibly private. When I come back with my children the beach villas looked perfect for a family /
Yes it’s expensive but you know that and with the pricing here you know what you are getting but the quality of food is absolutely incredible from Japanese Zuma, the most authentic Chinese and Peking duck, the Australian grill and the fantastic breakfast. The options absolutely did not disappoint. The Arabic restaurant Yasmeen was also incredible and I love that the portions weren’t huge so we didn’t feel overfull. The Woodford pizza at the beach club was also great and the beach itself beautiful. The staff are lovely our butler Sayyah met every one of requests. We love that it was an easy yacht ride from male no squishy seaplane and can’t wait to bring our children back to experience the resort. The ratio of staff to guests means there’s never a moment waiting for anything. There’s a british duo playing and singing at peacock alley the lobby bar in the evenings and a dj by the beach and at Amber the sunset bar. Thsi place has everything and more!

Great resort stretching on 3,5 km ..a very unusual size for the Maldives . Villas are amazingly designed and provide indoor and outdoor experience. You can jump in the sea and have incredible snorkelling experience right in front of your room. Food experience is really good particularly with Zuma ( food music and service are simply amazing) and The ledge ( great Australian starred chef ) Avoid Glow unless you are looking for a tasteless healthy experience. A nice bar close to the sea is missing. Amber is only open for sunset and Peacock smells gasoline at night I guess form the generator .
We had an overall very good experience thanks also to our private concierge Ali Shafeeq who delighted us with a great service.
Now what went wrong : if you want to sleep in the morning avoid the overwater villas with 6 or 7 numbers ( our was 727) . The getty needs some fixes and the buggy’s are doing a huge noise passing on it . You feel like having a train passing by… No water pressure in the room…never fixed properly. We decided to leave two days earlier because of the bad weather (pouring rain) and of course the two nights were not refundable. Which is ok but when I asked if they could do a gesture on the extras I have been told : not possible. What a lack of elegance …not even a reduction on my birthday dinner …sometimes you loose a client for few hundreds dollars ..what a shame . One last thing check your bill…they tried to add 350 usd of minibar…never taken… Anyway I still think this is a beautiful property with a lot of potential . Regarding the lack of consideration I will not come back to the WA…but I will come back to the Maldives and return to the Four Seasons Landa Giravaru…it is an authentic experience where they really put the client first ….see you soon for the next review

Right from the time you exit the airport in Maldives the staff are sweet and chivalrous . A transfer by Yatch to the hotel is 50 minutes to an hour and you are well taken care of in that one hour (Champagne , pastries , appetisers on board ! ) You reach the hotel and you are immediately taken to your Villa by a buggy . On the way to the room your concierge gives you all the info you need for your stay (including his number incase you need anything) Enter the Villa and you feel like royalty (We had the over water pool Villa) .
Some of the restaurants are top notch , we we dined at Zuma which was heavenly , then there was The Ledge by Dave Pynt which had the best tuna steak I have had ! Li Long (Chinese cuisine) was a little disappointing. Nava is nice place to chill by the beach and enjoy your drinks .
Their breakfast spread is one of a kind and since you are on holiday , don’t shy away from the champagne at breakfast .
All in all we had a good 4 nights at Waldorf Astoria and our concierge Saddam was extremely helpful !

First and foremost, i would like to give a big shoutout to our GEM, Mr. Saddam. He was the best concierge we ever had! He took care of us meticulously and responded to our inquiries within few minutes. He works tirelessly and he still shows a big smile on his face. He even upgraded us to Grand King Overwater Villa 3 days out of 6 days on our stay even though the Reef Villa was already very beautiful. We could not have been happier ♥️
From airport pickup, we were greeted right after we picked up our luggages and was on the way to the island within few minutes. The ride took about 40-45 mins and we took advantage of the free flow champagne. My wife had a blast!
Upon arrival, we instantly met Mr. Saddam who took us around the island and was assigned villa 509 facing the open ocean. We tried Li Long, The Ledge, Zuma, Yasmeen, Tasting table and more. All food tasted very delicious. My two favorite dishes are Li long Pecking Duck and The Ledge Cheese Burger. As long as you save enough money this paradise is 1000% worth it!
Breakfast at tasting table was delicious and the happy hour at Peacock alley was delightful as well. There was a fire show the sunday night of our stay.
The 110 minute full body massage was one of the best and relaxing time of our lives - shoutout to Ms. Ellie for showing us around and Ms. Wahyuni & Ms. Sastrini for giving us a new body/soul 😁
The attention to detail on everything is very immaculate. They even gave us a cable tie on our phone chargers which was a nice touch. Overall, I am very thankful for all the the staffs (Mr. Saddam, Ms. Verena, Mr. Samuh, Ms. Sympli, Mr. Imma, Ms. Franci, Mr. Bang, Ms. Joy, Mr. Raaif and mr. Maxi) that work very hard on this island. It truly felt like a dream.
Everything was perfect from start to finish and we would love to come back here someday again ♥️ thank you Waldorf Astoria team!

The water villas in the 700s but in odd numbers (eg. 713, 715, 719 etc.) should have a sunrise view. Unfortunately, I don’t think there are any rooms on the island that has the direct sunset view as none of the rooms seems to be facing the west. You can still get a nice sunset view if you go to their bar Amber or even their Spa, which they open the grounds for guest to enjoy the sunset.
I think snorkelling can be done from the deck of most water villas. We were at 712 and the reef drop off is around 30m away from our deck. As for the best spot, I think you will have to ask your butler when you get there or write to them and ask them to assign you a room near the best snorkeling spot. The staff are all very helpful and friendly. Also. Snorkeling gear is provided free of charge by the resort.
There are more places to choose from in the Ithaafushi Island area.
