Quaint, colourful & tidy Bachs, sleeping up to five (or more - there is one larger family Bach) with all the facilities you could need for a rustic stop over with surprising extras thrown in each evening all of which involved extra effort from the owner - pizza night, entertainment and firing up the spa pool for tramping weary guests....

We were met by the owner who was in dirty clothes and later put on an even worse jersey. Not an auspicious start. We had noted all the stars this property received but cannot agree. The trees and bushes were overgrown, the grass was long, everything outside was shabby, the deck furniture had to be cleaned before we could use...

We stayed here for three nights and really enjoyed it. If fluffy white towels is your idea of a good holiday give the Sandcastle a miss. BUT if you love nature, a host who cares about his environment and a lovely quiet place the Sandcastle is for you . We explored some of Abel Tasman National Park while there and...

Having visited five years ago, we were not disappointed. Same helpful and friendly owners. A longer stay would have been better. Pizza night around the new oven was a nice way to meet other guests. Highly recommended. We shall return.

We had our first trip together to Golden Bay and stayed for 8 nights in Pohara. As a treat - we stayed our lat night in a YURT at the Sandcastle. It was a real experience and super cool. I recommend it for something different and unique.

As soon as we drove up, we thought what a relaxing, quiet, delightful place. It gave us the space, privacy and amenities we were after and was like having our own private holiday home. The owners were friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Not your standard motel unit!

The Sandcastles is not advertised as five star, and it isn't. What it is however is a relaxed environment to unwind after a busy day exploring all this region has to offer. Steve and Hayley are very hospitable hosts. The chalets are comfortable and adequately equipped. The extras are the pizza oven with the homemade bases that Steve is suitably...

Such a peaceful place to stay. Watched the Tui's from the cottage window, heard all sorts of other birds too. Steve and Hayley were so welcoming, even supplying us with pizza dough to use their pizza oven :) The Sandcastle is set in such a beautiful location and the little cottage had all we needed as well as being bright...

Don't seek luxury and you won't be disappointed. This is an idyllic location for you to enjoy the beauty of Able Tasman nestled on the hillside overlooking Pohara beach and the sometimes feisty bay! (it was rather windy) The cottages are well equipped and comfortable but you might want to take a fan to be cool in the height of...

Great location and very peaceful.  Only a short walk to the beach. A little run down but that adds to the charm of the place. the owners a lovely and welcoming. We tried out the spa that was warm and relaxing. WiFi was free with good connection from our cottage. Only thing I would change is the shower head (sprays...
