We enjoyed two overnight stays at Sans Souci Inn, on our way in, and out, from camping at Totaranui . . . it helps break the long journey from Christchurch and a little bit of comfort doesn't go amiss. We've stayed here a number of times now and availed ourselves of their delicious dinners too, for good reason. It's perfect...

In the north-west corner of the South Island, over the Takaka Hill, lies the peaceful beachside cul-de-sac of Golden Bay. Long known for its peaceful, arty, relaxed vibe, it's a delightful holiday spot off the well-beaten main tourist trail. Having first visited the appealing Sans Souci Inn in 1999, my husband and I were keen to see how it had...

Personally, I consider this the only 'must visit' among the numerous eating establishments in Golden Bay. A wonderful restaurant for any dinner during special occasions. Appetizing food with fabulous flavours! It's also a bonus that the San Souci Inn offers accommodation to refer eco-conscious visitors to.

Great place to stay in Golden bay. Staff are very friendly and the rooms / facilities are very clean. The food from the restaurant smelt good but was booked out so didnt get a chance to taste it. I would definitely stay there again.

LOVED our five nights at Sans Souci. Was immediately relaxing and welcoming. We had booked dinner our first night there and it was DELICIOUS. Was warm and homely and child friendly. Would without hesitation recommend staying here. I can understand why it is so popular

A lovely place to stay - just make sure you are happy with the shared bathroom facilities. It wasn't a problem for us at all, in fact the composting toilets were fine - nice and clean . I enjoyed being able to use the kitchen facilites to make our own breakfast or lunch. The owners and staff are all very friendly...

We visited Sans Souci for a friend's birthday dinner recently and was treated to Sunday's venison, their menu a different set meal every day of the week. Tender meat, a really yum cauliflower puree - just wholesome tasty food all round. The only small let down was that the food wasn't piping hot, nor were the plates, and it took...

Sans Souci is located near the beach and is nestled in a beautiful rustic and intimate setting. The food was especially wonderful and the hospitality inviting. We soon got use to the community restroom and found that we missed it after we left.

Recommended to me by my family, Sans Souci is something different with a strong ecological ethic, built, developed and operated by its founders. Rooms very comfortable. Excellent service. Restaurant highly recommended.
