It’s not worth the upgrade in my opinion as everyone is treated equally well. We went preferred but didn’t really use the perks though we did enjoy the quieter pool. No buffet at night time but restaurants are all open late and 24 hour room service is included. The pirates ships are amazing, great food!! And the speedboat safari is great fun.

Comparing Chichen Itza to Tulum ruins is laughable. We have been to both, but there is a huge difference. Tulum sets on a spectacular setting, but the ruins there are disappointing, compared to Chichen Itza. Much, much more to see at Chichen Itza. It DOES take a whole day to travel/see, but it is so memorable. Worth it, believe me. My kids loved it there, and went back years later. They loved the swimming in the denotes on the return trip. When we went, one could walk clear to the top of the main pyramid, but that stopped, when some gal fell and died.
