Just stopped here to see the trees did not stay as it was just a stop over as we were driving along the California coastline. We did not get down to the area were the really big trees where but it was an enjoyable stop over.

Pros: - If you're trying to stay in Big Sur and Deetjen's is already booked, this is the next best affordable option. - If you're trying to stay surrounded by nature (not in a fancy hotel) but don't want to camp in a tent, this fits the bill. - The reservation comes with a free one-day parking pass to the...

The cottages on the campus of the Big Sur Lodge are surprisingly luxurious. Some have wood others gas burning fire places, the former more rustic, the latter offer a particularly easy way to heat the rooms. The front door of my one bedroom duplex opened into a spacious main room with open kitchen and dining table. A skylight over the...

The service is amazing. The food is pretty good. The rooms are big and bright, but freezing because they only have a small heater. The extra rooms are like a freezer. No mobile phone service or internet. They offer WiFi, but we found that it was impossible to be in touch with outside world.

Great location, amazing surroundings. Check in slow. No free wifi. Wifi you can pay for a complete waste of time so don't bother as it is worse than slow. The days of charging for wifi have gone so these guys need to modernise. Restaurant was closed when we visited so we had to walk a mile plus down the road...

A little more expensive than most motels but unique in what it offers. Deer roam the park and are tame enough to photograph easily. Beautiful cabins with luxury toiletries and little balconies. Quiet and beautiful. Very close to walks and beaches. Don't miss the Purple Beach one mile south on route 1....take the right turn sign posted narrow road and...

Whilst road tripping in the states on our honeymoon I phoned up Big Sur Lodge to book a room that night. As I'm English and wary of additional taxes in the USA I specifically asked for final price INCLUSIVE of tax. I was told $289. Upon checking out the next morning my bill was $334. I queried this and asked...

Booked this lodge long before the Sobranes fire hit the Big Sur area so wasn't sure what we would find when we arrived this past week. The lodge had limited food availability (restaurant closed but cafe open), most of the State Park was closed for hiking and exploring. Our first room had a very noisy gas wall heater but the...

Thank you so much for staying with us! Yes, that Buzzard's Roost trail will really get your heart pumping. The incredible ocean view at the top makes the trip worth it...and when you reenter the redwood forest, it is so calm and cool. The Sycamores in our valley are showing their gorgeous fall colors and we expect a little rain...

Used the lodge for a one night stay, which was the second time we had used the National Park Services. Again a comfortable room with simple facilities in a stunning setting. The main lodge building had a good restaurant and bar with good home cooking. I liked the idea of no mobile working although the internet is available. If you...

We made a 1 night stop in Big Sur to relax and "unplug" during our Highway 1 adventure. We did not have cell service or internet and we were totally fine with that! Nice clean room and very quiet. This was our second visit and we were happy again!
