I've been going to Ripplewood since the 1980's. They have upgraded the cabins over the years and if you're looking for a basic, rustic but charming feel - this is the place. The cabin we stayed in had two queen beds that were very comfortable with good mattresses. The interior of the cabin is smooth, wood panel, which gives a...

Lovely! Fun place to stay if you just want to get away. No TV, no radio...you can get WiFi down at the restaurant. Everything is wonderful, very quiet, could use some new, softer pillows but overall the beds are very comfy and bed linens are nice. Best place to stay in Big Sur. The restaurant is so cute! The food...

Had the best sleep of our road trip here. Initially I was worried whether the cabins were truly rustic or just old but they are beautiful. They are old but nicely so and very clean, particularly the bathroom. We were close to the road which i didn't realise would be the case but the traffic quietened as soon as it...

Stayed at ripplewood for one night on our road trip from LA to San Francisco, and it was magical. We booked cabin no.7. This cabin is right next to the river, far away from highway 1, which made our lodging experience at Ripplewood even more romantic. The place is magically beautiful and discrete with big sequoia trees and a charming...

My partner and I booked two nights here on our drive from San Francisco to Los Angeles. Check in was simple and friendly. We booked Cabin 14 and loved it! It has a kitchen which meant we were able cook our own dinner. They don't supply much in the way of utensils (peelers, mashers etc) but we were able to...

On first approach, we were a bit disappointed -- the cabins sit right of Hwy 1 in Big Sur. But we warmed up (literally -- there was a wood-burning stove in our little cabin, with complimentary wood beside it) to the place. Cabin #4 sits right on the creek and is quiet and comfortable. It is VERY basic, so you...

Ripplewood Resort is one of those places you will remember forever when you think back about past vacations. The cabins are lovely situated in the middle of the Big Sur forest amongst giant trees. I loved the rustic feel of the whole place. The river that runs behind the cabins also adds to the magic. I stayed in Cabin 5...

I cancelled due to the ongoing concerns of fire in Big Sur area. But they still charged me the cancellation fee. It not about the amount charged but the basic customer service. I got a warning email from the resort itself I expected full refund.

These little places are rustic and don't have any frills but that's what makes them great. We stayed in one cabin and our kids in another. I would suggest buying groceries and filling up on gas before you arrive. There is a little store but it is very pricey. (A little box of cereal was $8). The landscaping and plants...

No "bistro" pretense here. Mexican leaning menu with abundant portions and beautifully presented. There's outside seating and great service. I had a house salad (huge and fresh) with chicken for $11. My wife had a vegetarian sandwich with fries and she loved it. A nice break from snotty places with cute food.
