As said in another review, a place to stay when it starts to get dark. We stayed in a room above the General Store , very clean but dated , free WIFI and if the fog had lifted , I’m sure it would have shown a perfect sunset . Not the best or the worst – cheapest or most expensive...

We saw this place on line and thought it looked ok. WE knew it was nothing fancy and that was ok for us. We planed to hike any way just wanted a clean safe place to sleep.. We got there after a long drive and they told us, after they ran my credit card, that you could not drink the...

Stopped only to have breakfast. what a awful breakfast. The potatoes where brown to black and dry, like maybe old and microwaved. hubby ordered ham and eggs, they served very thin sliced "deli" sandwich ham 2 pieces. curled and burnt on ends. it was the most worst I have ever encountered. and all this for $31.00 for the both of...

What a dump. For $200 a night, you would expect the door lock to work. Then the whirlpool tub didn't have a plug (kind of defeats the purpose!) The whole place was worn down and not cared for. There were holes in the carpet and no one had swept the patios in ages. We saw garbage around the grounds, including...

This is a very old place with 1970's mattresses still in use. They clean the rooms once a day apparently, but the carpets are all soiled and screens are missing from the windows. Don't even think about locking the door on your room, it is about as useful to do that as to duck tape it closed. Seriously, the people...

We were on our way to Hearst Castle driving South on Pacific Coast Hway 1 . A road block was formed directly in front of Gorda Springs Resort. We were told that a mud slide was preventing us from traveling any further south and turning around was the only option, Great , I thought. After driving all day , I...

If you want to experience the lost coast at its best, Gorda Springs has it all. You are truly in the middle of the lost coast with cabins, pampas grass, flowers, birds, and incredible sunsets. You are right on the side of the mountain, directly across the road from the ocean. Here highway 1 is just a two lane road....

...Not what we expected...The website and the friendliness of the person answering the phone, when I called to make reservations, led me to believe that Gorda Springs, Big Sur, CA was a quiet, "low key" type of lodging. Unfortunately, when we got there, we found that the friendly manner of the store/lodging staff was the ONLY aspect true to form....

If you are unfortunate enough to have to stay here you'd be better off reversing off the cliff and sleeping in the seaweed. Most people seem to stop here becasue it'sgetting dark and the highway is dangerous enough. About 2 miles south of this cess pit is a much better motel, not sure of name, and about 2 miles north...

En route to San Simeon, I decided to give this place a try - despite what I read online. In speaking to the staff, I learned that Gorda is in the middle of a HUGE management transition and that the family taking it on have nothing but the best intentions for it. I instantly felt at home here, I fell...
