This community is so kind and gracious. They shared their culture, food, wildlife, and hospitality. The community owns the lodge and the people of the village rotate through the various positions so that everyone has work. The food was fabulous, the best of what I experienced in Guyana. The birding was great, the local guides are knowledgeable and helpful. I...

The lodge is set in a five square kilometre patch of savannah in the rain forest soyu get a bit of both worlds. I stayed in the block of four bedrooms and not in the individual houses. The room was very basic, cold water shower only and no screens at the windows. A mosquito net is set each night and...

So only come here if you are willing to accept basic but sufficient accommodation ; we had a large room with double bed, excellent mosquito net, and bats in the roof for company(large tarpaulin prevented bat dropping problem!) . En-suite toilet and shower crumbling but both worked well enough though there is no hot water. Staff were very pleasant and...

My family, friends and I visited in Dec.2016, it is quite beautiful in the Savanah, we met the Chief and fiends there. There was a TAPIR in the surrounding area which came across after one of the Villagers whistled to him. We also saw a massive Totem Pole sculpted by one of our family friends named Ozzy. We visited the...

Stayed in a lodge - excellent facilities. The staff was wonderful. The tours are worth while, and the people giving the tours at least equally worthwhile if not more. They have a wealth of knowledge and experience in the Amazon. Quite special! We were lucky to see a harpey eagle nesting and her chick. The boat tour was also nice....

I've no idea what makes this an "eco lodge" but it is a nice, friendly lodge in the savannah. There is a central block with restaurant on the ground floor and bar, rest area on the upper floor. Closest to the central block are colourful individual wooden cabins and set a bit further away is a brick-built block with another...

On our parrot photography tour of Guyana regretably we only had two nights at Surama. What a magical place. We had one of the large stand alone rooms - from the outside beautifully decorated with paintings of local birds, views and people. The room was excellent; the huge mosquito net made it into an Arabian nights scene - and there...

Landing at Annai on our flight from G Town it's a short jeep ride to Surama Eco Lodge. Nestled close to the jungle you can experience jungle life from the comfort of your hammock up in the communal benab. The bar is a good meeting point for locals and visiting adventurers. The food is always tasty and plentiful, staff are...
