We found the Aal Penjonat on TripAdvisor and found it to be every bit as wonderful as others have described. Oddrun, the owner, runs a beautiful historic home (and bank at one stage of its existence) that has been renovated to contemporary standards. Her homey touches are everywhere, with sheepskins and blankets on chairs that invite one to curl up...

Charming old house, actually Aal's old bank, with a few, unique rooms stuffed with personality. Feels like being at home - the living room is small and yours, the kitchen is big and yours, except you don't have to do the kitchen work. It's cosy and private in the right matter, swiss chalet style and newly renovated from top to...

Just returned from Norway. This was the first hotel we stayed at and it really blew me away. It is beautifully decorated with both old and new furniture. The owner has a real sense of style and has managed to create just the right feel. Our room was one of the attic rooms. It was large enough with a very...

Very quaint b&b, was a former bank situated in the heart of the small town. We had the last room available which was a twin in the attic, very cosy. Breakfast was just OK, didn't like having to go to the fridge every time I wanted fresh juice or milk for my coffee, they also ran out of pots of...

There are a number of hotels, apartements, lodges etc. if you fancy skiing - alpine or cross country - or mountain hiking in this area. However, you will have to look long and hard to find anywhere that comes close to this place in the value for money stakes. The rooms are very nice, the breakfast is excellent and the...

There's nothing like good old-fashioned hospitality and athmosphere. This place has tons of it. The house, the hosts, the breakfast - I don't know what to highlight - maybe the old bank vault that is currently a cognac and wine tasting chamber?

I've been lucky enough to stay here on business on two occasions, and I've enjoyed every minute of it. It's spotless when it comes to cleanliness, the atmosphere is that of visiting a restored cosy and nicely furnished Norwegian hotel with a very personal character to it. The staff members are warm and friendly people, and will accomodate you in...

The staff is very friendly, she was late for our room so she offering us a coffe and cake and was very sorry. This is an old house typically from 1900s, our room was big with a lot of charm and the breakfast was very big and delicious. But we had to look for a while to find a restaurant...

Very kind staff. Lovely atmosphere. Beautiful rooms. Only the town Aal isn't really worth staying there. Antiques and quality furnishings in addition to a beautifully restored tradtional building that is an easy walk from the train station. Furthermore they score top points for their service and attention to detail in providing the perfect holiday for their guests
