An unexpected discovery, a private island feel you can drive to. A very quiet environment, the hotel shares the isle with a private community of villas, there are parts that are not accessible to the hotel guests but you can access the beach via lift. Some areas are a little run down (abandoned building project around the beach and some abandoned private villas) but is not related to the hotel. Hotel is well-kept and nicely furnished, the views of the beach from the bar/cafeteria and restaurant are excellent, the food is acceptable. Will return.

A very nice surrounding, rooms are good but need some attention for maintenance. Restaurant was good , bar facillities a bit less. The golfcourse had some maintenance only could play the first 9 holes, nice views.

Well, I got a good price deal, so why not? Otherwise, I would not pay more than $80 a night for sure. Rooms are rather basic with paper cups, dated furniture and lots of flies (hell knows where they come from, but I had to chase and kill at least five-six flies each day). Breakfast is depressing with the only hot meal option being fried eggs and fried bacon. Also, quite a large part of this private semi-island is a kind of half-finished construction work with all the related garbage and things. Looks like they ran out of money just before the COVID crisis...

We stayed here for one night. Luxury hotel on its own little private island. Gated entrance. Lovely relaxing decor for a spa hotel. We loved our twin room which was two beds together, bigger than a double. The room has a table, chair, desk and suitcase rack as well as fridge and cupboard space. Soft pillows, comfy bed. Towels had the hotel name on them. Slippers with the hotel name in the bathroom. Air conditioning was a bit loud but did a good job so all good. No noise from neighbouring rooms. Views of the water. We had breakfast at the hotel buffet. There were many hot and cold options. Each food type had its own area. Fruits, cereals, ham, cheese, pancakes and pastries, toast, jam and pate, tea and coffee, with many options in each area. It is well worth including breakfast in your booking. Checkout was quick and easy. We hired mountain bikes and explored the island. Also we tried out paddle tennis which was a lot of fun!

An absolutely delightful location. We stayed two nights and found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Some areas around the outside pool need some attention although our stay was just before it opened. Overall definitely worth a visit. The golf course was a good challenge and in very good condition.

average hotel: padel paid; the gym is far a way and even to get the gym in a bicycle we need to pay. Compared with other hotel in Spain this one is very expensive with less services. the ladies of reception are not very friendly and not even give much information, only if we ask, and we need to push.

If you come to play golf, you will like this club and hotel. Golf club and service is amazing! But generally the hotel service should be better. Waiters don’t know English!!! It’s a big problem to communicate with them! Also some food is not fresh for breakfast (some cheese and hamon).

Spring time seems to be the perfect season to stay at Valdecañas. The hotel & beach area are really peaceful, perfect to relax. Rooms are not luxury but extremely comfortable, with smart details, love to open the shower without the need to dodge the water. Breakfast was excellent and service showed very nice attitude all over the place. If you are looking for golf, the course is very attractive, well maintained while providing fantastic lake views. By the way chipping are is great.

I couldn't decide between rating this hotel as 'very good' or 'excellent'. I opted for 'very good' because I wasn't there long enough and didn't use enough of the facilities in order to justify an 'excellent' rating. I spent one day and night here and I enjoyed it. The bed in my room was HUGE. I don't know if they're all like that but my bed was ridiculously big. And comfortable. The hotel is stylish but in a simple way. There is free on-site parking and the pool was rather enjoyable in the heat (I was there in August). There is a restaurant/bar near the pool but I thought they were overpriced for what they're offering. When heading down to the pool, be careful which path you take. When you exit the hotel, there is a sign almost immediately across the road that directs you to the pool. However, that path is steep and difficult to walk on. If you exit the hotel and go round to the left, there is another sign. Follow that one. You'll end up having to go down in the lift/elevator and then walking along a much more comfortable path. I had dinner in the hotel restaurant. I had the slow-cooked cod and it was just divine! I wish I could have stayed here longer. The price for staying there on the weekend seems to be double what it is during the week. I would not have paid the weekend prices for this (approx EUR 170) but the EUR 90 I paid was worth it. I definitely recommend.

Stayed here for two nights with my husband for a relaxing getaway. The swimmingpool and the beautiful lake are the things that make this hotel so fantastic and worth visiting. You couldn’t swim in the lake but it’s beautiful and there is a nice beach bar next to it. The pool area next to the lake was fantastic. It’s large and windling with trees around and it’s only around 1.4m deep all around. It was quiet and peaceful. It was the best hotel pool I’ve ever visited. The hotel itself is ok. Rooms are nice and clean and the breakfast buffet was good. We had a balcony with a view to the lake. They don’t have body lotion and hair conditioner in the rooms, so please bring that yourselves. There are several small towns about 15-20 min away by car to visit for lunch and dinner if you don’t want to eat at the hotel restaurant.
