Stayed her x4 now and it just keeps getting better. Always our first choice in Cape Town. Laidback with a funky vibe. Close to what you need, what you want and what you must have, or what you crave. Observatory is a coolish sub to Cape Town with a vibe that will keep you away from Long Street most days...

I stayed at African Heart Backpackers for 4 weeks from Jan to Feb 2014 when I was doing an elective posting at Groote Schuur Hospital. Firstly, the location was fantastic. It was literally a stone's throw away from the Hospital and I would definitely recommend medics who are going to the hospital to stay here for the convenience. There is...

The atmosphere is amazing and the staff so welcoming - we were actually sad to leave. Met great people and staying in Obs was...

I stayed at African heart for 2,5 months, whilst working as a volunteer in a township. The staff became family and the backpackers felt like home. African heart is located in central observatory which is a lively, young and interesting surburb to Cape Town city. If you want to explore Cape Town this is the perfect location, with commute trains,...

I spent a month at African heart as I was volunteering in Observatory and the backpackers is great. The staff is extremely friendly, and will answer absolutely any question you can come up with. Food was good, facilities always clean, and the other people in the backpackers created no disturbances. I'd definitely recommend this place.

I guess I was just unlucky with this backpackers as so many people write positive reviews, but I had a quite bad experience, probably because the manager wasn't there when I was. I stayed for one day, and during all that time, the staff and their friends (i couldn't really make out who was staff and who was just sleeping...
