Amazing food at this country pub . Massive portion sizes so make sure you have an appetite. I could only eat half of it..staff very friendly the bar staff even offered us a lift back to our b and b instead of us paying what they called extortionate prices for a taxi. I had lasagne and my friend had pie..all.hand...

Went for nice relaxing lunch with my husband and that is exactly what it was. My first time of eating there and it will definitely not be my last. The food was amazing chicken and Stilton with leeks and the best chips i have ever tasted. Dessert, apple and damson pie with vanilla ice cream fabulous. The service was brilliant...

We went as a group of 9 for dinner. The food was delicious and we could not believe the size of the plates! They were all the size of serving platters, except for the children's plate of course. Good service, good food and a cosy dining room.

We came from a steam train ride to the Railway Inn mid afternoon on Sunday. We are a group of seven, including one teen that has milk and egg allergies and two other teenagers that are particular in their tastes and myself who does not eat meat. The staff accommodated us at a table quickly and without fuss. Every member...

Me and my partner stayed here after we'd been to Alton towers, it's located around 6-7 miles from the park. The pub is very friendly and welcoming, all the locals were extremely friendly and made us welcome. The rooms are very spacious, clean and have basic amenities. Breakfast (full English) the next morning was very tasty and set us up...

Dropped in for a swift half one late lunch time. A few customers. My ale was very well kept. Staff brusque and more concerned with gossiping with their friends/family members sat opposite the bar. I looked at the menu for future reference and found it confusing and a huge range of snacks and meals. Walking round the back of the...

Our first visit last night was very good. We were amazed at the size of the portions. The food was cooked to perfection. Best meal in a long time and will certainly return very soon. Polite and friendly staff and food served without much waiting time at all.

Our family was having a day out at the adjacent Churnet Valley Railway to celebrate my 70th birthday. Our eldest daughter lives in Stoke but the rest of us were coming from Blackpool, Reading and London. We thought we would arrive separately coming such long distances but we actually arrived within a few minutes of each other. We asked the...

Amazed at how large the portions are , was gob smacked. Very family friendly . Great Sunday lunch . Very close to the train station so great pit stop if you've been on the train. Lots of parking at the train station if you can't park elsewhere ,
