We stayed for 2 nights at Mathis Lodge and it was incredible! The place looks even better then the pictures! The view, the room, the atmosphere, the attention to small details, the food and the service were all perfect! I really recommend this place and would definitely be back when having the chance.

We spent 6 nights in the Mathis lodge as a start of our holiday. The place is perfect for de-stressing and complete relaxation. We booked the lodge with a private pool, and the room was very beautiful. I absolutely loved the bathroom too. Beds are very comfortable to western standard, not rock hard. The staff is great and everyone was very friendly and accommodating. We ordered a floating breakfast one morning and they really made it special with flowers. While we very much enjoyed our stay, there are some considerations before booking: - the place is very secluded. It takes some 25 mins with the shuttle from the Lipah beach to the lodge, and the road is in very poor condition (I don’t recommend riding a scooter yourself). The lodge offers shuttle from 10:30 till 18, which means that you’ll be eating all your breakfasts and dinners at the lodge and the moving around and exploring the area by yourself is somewhat limited. - if you have bad knees or poor balance, this is not your place. The little stone paths leading to the bungalows are uneven and narrow and only partly lit. - the breakfast is just ok. Gets very boring after a few days, with some inconsistencies, such as ‘Brown toast and butter’ was some mornings white bread and some baking style margarine that wouldn’t melt on the bread etc. Speciality coffees are for extra cost which is normal in Bali. - The restaurant (where you’ll have all your dinners) is generally good when you order Balinese food. The satay lilit was super tasty, and both gado gado and nasi goreng were good too. The staff is great and got me extra sambal. The western foods were not great, we tried some pastas and starters, which were all rather bland and lacking, for example Italian herbs (parsley where you’d expect basil). Some desserts were nice (fried banana and chocolate mousse), some were disappointing (creme brûlée with totally soft top and a liquid-ish pannacotta). We ended up buying instant noodles from the shop in the village some days and had those for dinner. Wines are only available per bottle, which was a pity! Cocktails were ok but not special. I would totally recommend Mathis lodge if you just want to relax. If you travel to try out foods and do activities and meet local life, the place is probably not what you’re looking for, and there are high quality accommodation options down in Amed too.

Fantastic place and definitely a hidden gem. Personally loved everything about the lodge attentive staff, very friendly and service minded people. The lodge has beautiful pool with stunning views onto sea and when it’s clear weather you can see Gili and Lombok. Recommend the property in particular for couples

Yes.....what they say about the rickety ride up the hill to the lodge is right but it's all part of the adventure! But once you arrive, the place, the view, everything takes your breath away. We stayed at Wetar 6 lodge for 4 nights and enjoyed every minute. I felt I was on safari. The attention to detail in the architecture, furnishings was amazing. There is a bit of a hike from the main area where the restaurant and pool are to your room, so if you have bad knees etc, be prepared. It's about a 30 degree incline. Frederic the manager was great. Personable, efficient and saw to your every need. The staff were also great! Amed is beautiful and Mathis Lodge made it even more beautiful. Highly recommended. P.S. apparently if you hike up the hill for another 30 mins, you will be rewarded with a breath taking view of Mt. Agung but we didnt.

Mathis Lodge is a stunning hotel with perfectly clean, large room offering a nice view over the mountain and the sea. The staff was very nice and always willing to help and accommodate day-trip, shuttle and on-site request. The infinity pool is gorgeous, the restaurant is very nicely decorated and everything creates a very comfy, warm, familiar atmosphere extremely enjoyable. Everything was perfect during our stay.

Perched on the quiet hilltops of Amed Beach, the hotel was a great find. Very charming with excellent restaurant and great value at a very reasonable price point. Rooms were spacious and nicely appointed. Staff was courteous and caring. Access to the hotel can be challenging since it can only be accessed by hotel shuttle which leaves every hour and the road up is bumpy. Once the road is paved it will be much better.

This place is really good for those who want to spend a chill and relaxed weekend. it's a very calm and beautiful place from the resort. They have Asmat Vibes and boho style in their interior. I really like it. Everything is using eco-friendly ingredients. At first, I think the road before the resort is very challenging. But Frederic (Manager) told me to text him so they can give us a lift. Overall I really like this place. The service was oustanding. They really care about our opinion. But just a suggestion, hopefully, they can improve the cement road and the taste of food. Besides that, everything is really great. oh ya, wish I could have a private dream wedding here. But of course with the great cemented road.

We had the best time ever in Mathis lodge. It was absolutely exceptional. I enjoyed my stay with my wife and everything was just perfect. The staff, view, rooms, food, atmosphere... I think that it actually is my favorite hotel in Bali and I already reserved my stay for next month. Thank you once again to the Mathis Lodge Team.
