This was an off-the-beaten-track one-of-a-kind experience that was definitely worth seeking out. Bhalil is a small, gritty, picturesque town precariously clinging to the foothills of the Atlas Mountains, about 30 km from Fes. The hotel Dar Kamal Chaoui is named after its owner. Kamal, is fluent and garrulous in English (plus a few other languages), a well-traveled, well-educated Moroccan who...

“We had an exceptional stay at Dar Kamal Chaoui in December 2016. The house itself is very confortable and tastefully decorated. The room had everything we needed and a pleasant bathroom. The big dinning table invites good discussions and warm experience sharing. We also enjoyed staying on the terrasse in the morning as it was hard to leave this home....

Dar Kamal Chaoui in Bhalil village, 3km close to Sefrou and about 24km south of Fez, is a fantastic place to stay, relax, and enjoy the traditional life of Marokko. Naima, cook and house maid, serves the best breakfast we had during our 2,5 weeks Marokko trip, and in the evening traditional food, or even bbq on top of the...

We visited Kamal's guesthouse in April of 2016, after seeing it marked as one of the author's picks. It did not disappoint. We were looking to see a part of Morocco that is a little out of the way, and away from the craziness of the big cities. Kamal picked us up from Fez and took us to the guesthouse....

Kamal and his cook Naima provided the warmest hospitality imaginable and the best meals I had in Morocco hands down!! Driving from Casablanca, I wasn't able to get there until 8:30pm but they had a wonderful dinner waiting for me. The following morning, we had a delicious breakfast which included a semolina bread that you find all over Morocco only...

Dar Kamal Chaoui, Guesthouse/hotel, is in the quiet village of Bhalil , 3 km from Sefrou & 24 km south of Fez, Immouzzer & Ifrane, and close to the Cedar Forest. The Inn is beautiful, with a rooftop terrace, folk art on display and incredibly comfortable furnishings. The meals were delicious, local recipes, served family-style. I felt like I was...

I stayed at this guest house after a long trip to Morocco for rest and relaxation. I sure got exactly that! The guest house itself is so lovely! It has wonderful decorations, beautiful rooms with a comfy bed and warm shower, lastly a really nice terrace to sit on and enjoy the view. The city is small and slow moving,...

Very comfortable place with nice rooms and a great host in a unique town. I highly recommend a hike with Kamal, as he can tell you a lot about the surroundings of Bhalil and it is a nice way to interact with its inhabitants.

Five TripAdvisor points aren't enough to express my appreciation for Kamal's wonderful hospitality. As an individual, he is open, gregarious and supportive. A native Moroccan returned from many years living in France, he has both a deep commitment to his own culture and an understanding of how outsiders might approach it. He has worked hard to establish his guest house...
