After the busyness of Fez it was so beautiful to relax and recharge here. Kamal, the owner, took us for a tour of the village which was informative, insightful and fun. The people were friendly and relaxed. A number of the streets were beautifully painted and clean as people went about there lives. They kindly invited us into their homes...

We chose this place because we needed somewhere as a waypoint between Merzouga and Chefchaouen, and were delighted we wound up here. Kamal is a whirling dervish of information and community activism, and we were delighted by his spirit and desire to improve the lives of people in Bhalil. The guest house is beautiful, with amazing wood craft. Very comfortable....

Dar Kamal Chaoui is a not a typically Moroccan place (do we sense some anthroposophic influences?) in what might be a very typical Moroccan village. Spend a few nights there to be between the locals. Kamal is the most forthcoming, knowledgable and sweet host, and very passionate -about most anything. If he rambles on, just tell him, he will appreciate...

We visited Kamal with our four children at his lovely dar in August and won't soon forget it. From the moment he enthusiastically welcomed us in nearby Sefrou, the experience surpassed any other we had in our three weeks in Morocco. His insights into the architecture, lifestyle, and history of the city were fascinating and very real, and the lunch...

Dar Kamal Chaoui is a great place for people who are wanting to be close to Fez (less than 25 km away) and want to experience the Moroccan countryside. With Sefrou ( home of the annual cherry festival) nearby, Dar Cahoui is beautiful place to stay. With comfy rooms, each with there own theme and design and all the lovely...

I spent a great time at Dar Kamal Chaoui together with Kamal and his mother. As Kamal always attracts great people around him, I found myself in an unplanned travel writer’s meeting in Bhalil. In the afternoon, we went together in Sefrou to eat a sandwich with local kefta. Apparently, this has nothing to do with Kamal. Though, I am...

Friends told us we had to visit Bhalil and we are so thrilled that we did. From the moment we arrived in the village. Kamal welcomed and guided us warmly. Though we did not have a reservation, Kamal made us feel right at home in his authentic Moroccan home. Our room had all conveniences and best of all the guesthouse...

I can completely recommend Dar Kamal Chaoui. If you're thinking of going to Fes, then I urge you to try and carve a few days here on a side trip. The owner, Kamal, is an excellent host and guide to the Middle Atlas area. He picked us up from Fes station and took us to the small town of Bhalil,...

My wife and I LOVED the cheery colours and quaintness of this charming Inn! Kamal really went out of his way to take us to meet some of the artisans of his village. Do visit him and his charming auberge!
