Detailed Reviews
Very friendly staff (thanks Anissa) and the property is a huge welcoming maze of immaculately groomed gardens and golf courses, with walks throughout amongst the trees and the beaches that kill a few hours. Extremely COVID friendly and not intrusive. It's in a great location and our loaggon view room was enormous but dated however very comfortable. Could do with modernisation, but at $175 a night it was very well priced. Food was standard pub fare in taste and price, no more, but staff were attentive and the surroundings to eat were lovely. Happy hour had great priced drinks that was fun. Pool area nice too. There was an internet 'problem' while we were there (ie no internet) which was frustrating, so hopefully that revolves soon. All in all, we discussed the property while strolling on the beach, and would return for a few more days next time, with a rental car to explore the Coffs region again, which is on your doorstep.

We booked a deluxe hotel room as we were told that they had been refurbished to the highest level so we thought we would splurge for two nights . Very dissapointed as the room is tiny and the bathroom even smaller ! The balcony furniture was old and the small table was peeling paint . Ordinarily this would not worry us but having been told how new and refurbished to the highest level we were expecting more for what we paid each night . I would not bother paying for these rooms again . The resort is very overpriced for what it is .

The resort is situated just 5 mins from Coffs, and a 5 minute walk down a track to the little beach. The beach was not patrolled when we were there. Of all the resorts we saw (and we went to most of them) this one has plenty of space and everything is an easy walk away. Staff could not have been any more helpful.
This hotel was built some time ago, and some of the rooms are undergoing refurbishment. We stayed in one of the older rooms, our friends in one of the newer. There was not a lot of difference really, none of our furniture was broken or discoloured, just a bit worn., so for us no problems.
Bed was good, bathroom quite large, the shower is over the spa bath, which may pose a problem for some people. This is usually a problem for me, but this bath was quite low, so again not an issue. Kitchen had all we needed except for a non stick frypan, living room was plenty big enough and the airconditioner was pretty quiet. So all in all we were happy with the room which had a view of the gardens.
The grounds are extensive and very well kept, with a golf course. Covid restrictions have caused a few issues with access to everything, as noted by other reviews.
The restaurant has a limited menu, but everything we had there was good, and the setting is lovely even just for drinks at happy hour. Coffs is 5 minutes away if you want a more up-market restaurant.
If you are looking for a 5 star up market hotel experience, this is not it. This holiday is a great laid back relaxation time. We had one of those holidays were you get a tan by the pool, eat prawns from the fishermans co-op, play cards all night and feel lazy! Had a great time and we will be back.

Funny how reviews can be so far apart and yet at the same place! We stayed for 4 days with our family of 4, kids 8 and 5. We found the resort to be very relaxing and enjoyable. we found the grounds to be very well maintained, freshly painted, gardens were very tidy and everyday there were groundskeepers and staff working throughout the resort. They were very friendly and happy.
the apartment / adjoining rooms we had were modern, clean and had amazing views. We were very comfortable for our entire stay and had no problems what so ever! Rooms and linens are not serviced however we noted this on booking and could have easily asked for more if we needed them! Staff were extremely friendly and helpful at every interaction.
Plenty of undercover and car parking with an overflow onto a further area for parking ... again not sure what the last review was even on about! Two nights we came back to a full carpark and had a 1 min walk to our apartment.
We ate at the restaurant bar and grill three nights and had breakfast also. Every meal was delicious, pizzas were a hit with the kids. Bar was a hit for us, and even though the resort is a little dated it is very well kept and is in great condition. The kid loved the little games room upstairs that had pool, air hockey and a very games machines. Kids were in for a little treat when the staff bought out some fish food to feed the koi they have in their pond around the dining area. Was so old school, just like our holidays to Coffs as kids ourselves.
I had a 2 1/2hr massage at the day spa and it was absolutely incredible. I love a good massage, and this was up there with one of the best I’ve ever had! Can not fault the ladies in there. Grounds were great for walking and exploring with the kids, they were sad to see the playground was closed but the easy 5 min walk to the private beach seemed to help them forget that! Take a bucket to collect some unique rocks. Lap pool is somewhat heated, kids did swim once but was a little chilly for us this time of year. Next time we will hit the big pool.
We didn’t get to golf but if the kids club was up and running during our stay we would have taken advantage of the great little course they have around the resort. We really genuinely enjoyed our stay, and cudos to the young man serving in the restaurant and bar with the American accent, he knows what hospitality is all about and was so attentive.

Our usual resort in Coffs was booked out so we decided to give Pacific Bay a go! Never again!
Check in was average. Spent a long minute or so standing at the counter while the girls tapped away at a computer and didn’t acknowledge my existence. When another visitor arrived after me the other receptionist behind the counter made it clear her shift was over and she would make a start on their check in but then pass it over to someone else. Maybe a crash course in customer service would be an idea!
$150 security bond for one night in a studio room - I have stayed at many 5 start resorts in the last few months that do not charge this!
If you want a beach side location to actually swim at the beach, do not stay here! - beach was shocking. Not a person in sight and we could easily see why.
Rooms are small and extremely close together. We could hear everything our neighbours would say. Woke up to their child screaming at early hours and doors slamming as they came in and out.
No in room movies! So when it started to rain we had nothing to do but sit in the shoebox of a room watching a children’s movie on TV.
Service and WIFI were TERRIBLE!!!! Couldn’t even make a phone call.
Last but not least. No undercover parking. Even the outside car park was completely packed. So we were forced to park in a mud pit. Surprised no one got bogged.
Such a disappointment!

Accommodation in Coffs Harbour generally seems to be quite expensive, but for $195 for one night (room only) I expected the accommodation at the Pacific Bay Resort to be, at a minimum, ‘nice’. From the moment we arrived it was one disappointment after another. The Front of House Staff might be better suited to other positions as they were far from welcoming or friendly (in fact when I eventually got to the room and couldn’t find the WiFi access code I had to ring the reception desk to ask for it again only to be told that it had already been given to me - on the map my husband left at the reception desk. I considered myself sufficiently rebuked). First disappointment was the distance to our room from Reception. It was raining heavily when we arrived and we were just pointed in the right direction and sent off, no offer of an umbrella and we were advised there was parking up there, but it probably was full . . . Gee, thanks . . . So off we go in the pouring rain to try and find this room. We eventually had success and thought we would just get room service. We rang to order our meal only to be told this 4 star resort does not offer room service. We can either walk down to the restaurant (through the rain) or we can once again walk down through the rain and collect it as a takeaway to have in our room. We opted for the latter and my husband had to walk through the rain again so we could pay top dollar for soggy, cold fish and chips with a wilted salad inside the foam container with the fish and chips and alas no tartare sauce that was listed in the meal description. By this stage we were over the whole thing. We then looked for knives and forks to eat with only to discover there were none and we had to eat it with our fingers (we later discovered knives and forks within the room by accident). As for the room, it was ok, pretty basic and the bed not that comfortable. We were only there overnight (thank goodness) and opted to have breakfast at McDonald’s rather than even attempt Breakfast at the resort. Next time we pass through Coffs Harbour we will definitely stay somewhere else, and I recommend anyone else looking for accommodation there to do the same.

Response from Brad Daymond, General Manager at Pacific Bay Resort
Responded 1 Mar 2021
Hello Linda Sorry you didn’t enjoy Pacific Bay Resort during the recent heavy rains. Our reception team receive many favourable comments about their friendliness and general helpful attitude so am disappointed to hear that your experience differed to the norm. Our property is spread out over 100 acres of beach front land which most see as a feature of the property and yes , the rooms are approximately 100 metres from Reception. We offer transport to rooms in our 6 seat golf cart as well as complimentary umbrellas to our guests , this was not required in your case as you had own transport. Since Covid we have decided not to deliver to rooms as the less amount of handling food items the better. I am sorry if this is not suitable but it is noted within our compendiums. I will speak to our catering team with regards to our take-away dishes staying hot though this is normally not an issue. I hope that some time in the future you will give Pacific Bay Resort another chance.

I recently hosted a function at Pacific Bay Resort. My 30 guests, the majority of whom were visitors to the area, all raved about the resort, the staff, the food, the ambience - just everything.
The staff were so easy to deal with. The Reservation Manager worked with me to ensure the rooms my guests had booked would be conveniently located and suitable for their individual needs. The Business Manager worked with me to ensure every detail of the function was perfect, even styling the menu with my celebration branding.
On the night all the function staff were attentive, professional and friendly. Together with the Bar Manager, Restaurant Manager and Chef they worked seamlessly to deliver a high class service.
My visitors also enjoyed strolling the immaculately maintained grounds, spotting the interesting variety of wildlife, the pool and beach swimming options and just relaxing around the Golf Hut cafe during the day. The keen golfers reported enjoying their rounds and the challenges of the course.
Based on my experience, along with the appreciation and positive feedback I received from my guests I can highly recommend Pacific Bay Resort for an event location.

Booked an executive hotel room which stated newly renovated, new furnishing and bed head as well as new vanities. The room i was given had NO bed head, vanity was full of cracks and there was two old OUTDOOR chairs which were inside. Both were stained. The airconditioner had not been cleaned for years. The website states you cannot request early check in or late check out due to enhanced cleaning. Mmmmm if this is enhanced cleaning I would hate to see it normally. Cigarette ash on outside table and WiFi awful. Quickly had my room moved when I complained to a room that was clearly much better but WiFi still awful

We stayed in an updated room with a nice coastal vibe and pleasant outlook. The bed was very comfortable. Unfortunately, there was very little sound proofing between floors. We could hear the people up stairs moving furniture and practicing their golf putting. Not ideal at 7am when you’re on holidays. The shower didn’t have a door, so the floor became very wet quite easily.
The grounds are lovely and well cared for. There’s a nice little coastal walk you can do and direct access to a beach. We had fun playing tennis but there was a hire fee for equipment if you don’t have your own.
Unfortunately, it was a limited menu at the restaurant for both the nights we stayed. The pizza was good- but we couldn’t do it two nights in a row. Also the “happy hour” drinks menu was very limited. Nothing that we actually wanted to drink was included.
The main accommodation is looking a little tired and we were disappointed we couldn’t sample the full menu from the restaurant.

Had dinner and the most expensive item on the menu the Scotch Filler was paper thin and absolutely dreadful with the sauce. Who ever is ordering your steaks and if they are levelled out thin think again either who you are purchasing from or who is making the decision to thing them out. I will never eat in their again absolutely rubbish. Staff ok and not really engaging it wasn’t that busy.
Accomodation is good such a great location.

Responded 30 Nov 2020
Hi Brendan, Thank you for pointing out the scotch fillet, we have discussed with the chef. Steaks are all weighed and from time to time you will get a larger size fillet that will be cut thinner to achieve the desired weight. Our feedback is generally very positive with our steaks as they are one of the best sellers. Sorry we didn’t exceed your expectations this time.
