This hotel is in the heart of the city, transport ready avaliable and a short walk to the train station and many main attractions including star city casino.
We were impressed with the service we recived being greated and welcomed by all team any time we came to a close proximity. Check in was special the lady made us feel very welcomed and did a great job.
Thank you for the room upgrade it was a nice surprise after a long day of work.
The room was exceptionaly clean and the view was great of the harbour and skylines i do recommend you ask to stay on the highest floor levels for better views we stayed on level 34.
The beds were comfy but unfortunately i did not find the pillows comfy but that would be more personal preference.
I usually love to have breakfast at the hotel i stay in but at $40 per person i refused to have this experience $80 for two people seems very unreasnable and you would want to hope it falls nothing less then superior including the complimentary offering of champange like some other 5 star hotels offer. needless to say there are endless cafe/resturants at your feet outside the doors of the hotel.
They have a beautiful infinity pool looking over darling harbour with an out side bar.
overall this was a very pleasant experience and with no doubt our next visit to the city we will be returning.
we have stayed countless times in the city in a large variety of hotels and this is the best in the specific location of darling harbour.
Thank you for a great visit

I finally was able to make an excuse for a night out with my partner and have been wanting to try the Sofitel at Darling Harbour.
Prior to coming to the hotel I had emailed the hotel for some help to arrange a masseuse for our room as a surprise and both reception and concierge emailed me back really quickly answering all my questions that I had and were really helpful. I was really happy before turning up.
Upon arriving concierge had there friendly smiling faces welcoming us and were very helpful. Check in was quick easy and efficient the one thing that would of been good was for the lady to point to the lift to go to the floor but that is nothing. The view was beautiful facing South/ inner west, beautiful bath which we used the bath menu which was really nice to relax in. One thing I find in most hotels is cleaning bathroom walls there is always marks and yuk prints but everything else was clean and tidy. The room was slightly small then other hotels and I only noticed it more due to having 2 massage beds in the room and it was difficult but we were happy and had a lovely sleep in the bed. The pool was nice, it would of been nice if it was heated we would of stayed in longer and unfortunately due to the pandemic the pool bar was closed but that was not a concern for us.
Breakfast was ok, didn't like the layout of all the food in different areas and that the ham and prosciutto was out and not on the ice and turning up later in the morning to miss the crowd there were a few things that were low and didn't get refreshed which I hate but eggs were lovely and overall happy.
Check out was quick and easy with the car ready when we were checking out.
We really enjoyed the hotel, location is perfect if you are doing tours and walking around the wharf area. I highly recommend the stay.
One thing to the hotel it would be much more exciting and inviting with remote blinds when you walk in like the Crown or have them all open when you walk in so you see the view straight away day or night it is still a pretty view and saves me 5 minute's opening everything up.

We choose this hotel due location being handy for visiting our friends and proximity to the tram stop which is about 50 meters from the front door.

Arriving inside the busy and small lobby it was clear they were taking the Covid restrictions seriously with staff wearing masks and sanitisers everywhere.
Was sent to the executive room to do a faster checkin but that was just as busy as the main lobby.

Our room itself was light and bright and modern with a great view towards Barangeroo and North Sydney. Very plush bed that feels like a cloud.

We wanted to have a few drink in the Executive lounge but was full when we arrived and was asked by the maitre d Matt if we had made a booking which we had not and was unaware we had to. The lounge apparently was full and had less capacity then usual due to restrictions. From what we could see it was very full and I'm not sure how more people could fit in without such restrictions.
He told us he would have a table for us at 6.30pm which was too late for us as we had dinner plans in Circular Quay which meant we'dbe able to spend 10 -15 minutes in the lounge before heading out. Somewhat disappointed we returned to our room to wait the time out until we could return.
When we went back to the lounge Matt took us directly to a table by the window and quietly mentioned he had called the restaurant in Circular Quay to see if our booking could pushed back 30 mins which they were able to offer. This allowed us to enjoy a few drinks and not have to rush, so thanks for your effort Matt.

We did not go to their Champagne Bar as planned because we were so full when we returned to the hotel. Everyone we passed in the lobby was friendly with the automatic 'bonjour' greetings . We were able to get a late check out too which was a bonus and something that isn't always possible.

We would consider returning here.

Bonjour U1132ZURhydrangea, Thank you so much for choosing to stay at the Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour and for taking the time to share your experience on TripAdvisor. I'm sorry to read that you were not advised that you needed to book your time for your pre-dinner drinks in Club Millesime and would like to apologise for this shortcoming. I am pleased, however, that Matt was able to amend your dinner booking to allow you to enjoy your benefit. The Ambassadors and I hope to welcome you back to the Hotel for another visit again one day soon. Kind Regards, Greg Brady

I have given this a 3-star rating for a variety of reasons.

I should preface this by saying that the issue I had has been resolved (sort of) but it still needs to be mentioned.

On Friday, February 21st 2020 my partner and I arrived at the Sofitel Darling Harbour at 5 pm only to be advised that our room was not yet ready and they could not tell me when it would be ready. This caused a great deal of inconvenience as my partner had to change and go to a function. He had to change at the venue. I requested to speak with a manager and eventually, Juan arrived. He explained that he could not tell me when the room would be ready or why the delay. He also could not offer me another room as he had none available. He offered us a 4 pm check out and a bottle of wine. He also said he would look at a room rate discount.

Eventually, the room became available.

The room was well-presented with sweeping views of Darling Harbour and a brief glimpse of the Harbour Bridge.

Everyone at the hotel was helpful.

We had booked a room that gave us access to Club Millésime. This was a treat for my partner. The staff in Club Millésime were attentive but unintrusive. The only complaint that I would have about Club Millésime was the minimalist canapes that were available for the evening.

Despite the initial issues, the stay was enjoyable and relaxing.

Upon checking out we found that no discount had been applied. The reception person spoke with Juan who advised that he would offer us a $100 discount and that the minibar items would be deducted from that so we would be getting a refund of $85. I was not impressed. Juan came out and spoke with us and wiped the minibar and said the $100 would be refunded. Still waiting for the $100 refund some 6 days later.

Despite all of this it was an enjoyable weekend in a comfortable room with a view.

Treat yourself to a weekend away and enjoy the Sofitel.

I would, however, strongly suggest that you call the hotel as you are nearing them to ascertain if your room is actually available.

Bonjour TheAdmiralW, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback following your stay with us last week. It is disappointing to read that we failed to meet your expectations on this occasion, particularly the shortcoming of not having your room available to check into when you arrived. Please accept my sincere apologies for any inconvenience this caused. I have discussed your feedback with Juan and understand that your refund was processed 3 days ago so this should appear on your statement very soon. I hope that we have an opportunity to welcome you back for a truly magnifique Sofitel stay that is memorable for all the right reasons one day soon. Kind Regards, Greg Brady

We booked this hotel for 2 nights as an anniversary treat to ourselves. My partner is a health care worker so we took advantage of the special rates on offer which was a great deal. We are pleased that this Accor property honoured the offer for non-Government workers (who are paid less than Government workers!) whereas their properties in Tasmania would not...

The hotel had noted our issues with getting the special rate at other properties as we had mentioned it to reservations and they also noted our anniversary. We received a call from their Guest Manager before our stay which was appreciated. We were upgraded to a lovely Darling Harbour view room which had an amazing view. The room was very well designed with a couch right in the correct place to laze and watch the world go by outside. The bath was luxurious with products and loofah provided. And we loved the welcome platter of cakes and fruit and bubbly in the room. Big thanks to Francisco for all the trouble he went to!

The pool area on the 4th floor is lovely but very crowded on Sunday during the day. However I had morning swims to myself and from 8pm onwards, it was quiet.

Our only small issues were that the windows need a clean (I know this must be a challenge!), the pool area could be tidied up more often (ie take away dirty towels and rubbish left by guests) and the lobby feels very busy and impersonal. This is a big hotel so not sure what they could do, but Sofitels in Asia seem to do it better.

We were really impressed overall and loved the location. It is also very close to a Light rail stop so we just took the LR to Central and then the train to the airport which was much less hassle and cost than a taxi.

When we are in Sydney again, we will stay here for sure (at the full rate this time!).

We decided to be tourists in our own city and stay at the Sofitel.

The Sofitel is positioned in a great location in darling harbour with easy access to the rest of the city either on foot or by using public transport. Although if you want to experience the harbour you are probably best staying near Circular Quay.

Personally, I find the darling harbour surrounds tacky and a tourist trap (especially Harbour side). But there are some great areas and things to do eg the aquarium, wildlife park, Madam Tussaud, great play area for kids (just dont go on weekends), Barangaroo and Cocklebay for soem great restaurants and Barangaroo Reserve....just avoid the Harbourside complex.

I couldn't fault the service at the Sofitel, from checking through to checkout. Rooms are modern (as you would expect for a new hotel). Technology allows streaming to the TV for those lazy movie nights in. The Atelier restaurant serves a great breakfast. So do get bed and breakfast. Other than breakfast the restaurant serves modern french cuisine that may not be to everyone's liking and was rather expensive (not so much with AccorPlus).

Also do get a high floor and one that faces darling harbour - corner rooms are best.

The infinity pool is great but way overcrowded. So much so, that hotel staff were preventing people from entering the pool. The family and I never got to use the pool this time around as a result (luckily we had int he past). Sofitel need to address this issue, don't market an infinity pool that cant be practically used due to overcrowding.

There is a basic gym onsite which is more than adequate unless you are striving to be a professional athlete.

So all in all a good stay but.... some improvements required.

Bonjour sepol7, Thank you for taking the time to share your informative review on TripAdvisor following your recent stay with us. Whilst I am delighted to read your positive comments regarding the service you experienced, your guest room and your breakfast in Atelier, I am sorry to read your disappointments regarding pool access. During the summer months when the Hotel is at full occupancy the pool is a very popular facility and we do need to monitor it's capacity and patronage to ensure only in-house guests access this area. At peak times, this often does mean that guests may experience a short wait before they are able to access. I appreciate your comments and hope that we have an opportunity to welcome you back for another visit again soon. Kind Regards, Greg Brady

It was my first stay at Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour. The staff were generally excellent and attentive, the room was very comfortable (although I wasn't sure if the opaque window blind could be opened) and it was convenient to take breakfast downstairs and use room service for dinner. (The room service menu would be lacking in variety if staying for more than a couple of nights). The only downside was the limitation on the numbers of guests able to access lifts and the queue that developed at check-in time. This is due to COVID-19 health restrictions and is unavoidable. Staff were on hand to direct guests to the relevant lift as quickly as possible. Car parking at the hotel is expensive but during the COVID-19 period the nearby Darling Harbour public car park had parking for $25 per day. All in all, a beaut place to stay in Sydney. It felt safe during this COVID phase with the staff seemingly diligent with regard to hygiene.

Spent the weekend at the Sofitel (our first stay at a hotel since Covid hit) and we were very happy with the measures that have been taken to make everyone feel safe. All staff were wearing masks and the lifts were monitored at peak times to ensure only 4 people used them at a time. Club Millesime was set up to ensure social distancing so we were able to enjoy breakfast, afternoon tea and evening drinks and canapés without worry. The room was a little smaller than some at similar hotels but it had a fantastic view of Darling Harbour and all the usual amenities were available. The staff at the Club were exceptional in the way they made each guest feel welcome and how professional they were.

My husband and I stayed last Friday night. Valet was a little confusing, there were people reversing, trying to turn, unattended vehicles blocking driveway. We were unsure what we should do.
Check in was busy as we arrived at 3:30pm. Three desks were open however there was still a little wait. Our room was lovely with great views. Every thing appeared clean. The couch had a big stain on it, it appeared it had been cleaned on the stain and the colour had been removed. The linens and towels were high quality. We found the lighting system very complicated (maybe it was us) however we could not work out how to just have a lamp on and nothing else. The location is great, light rail on the door step, Darling Harbour, cafes, shops etc within a few minute walk. We had drinks in the Champagne Bar and again, lovely. Staff and surrounds were great.
We had a great nights sleep and the shower was perfect, hot and great pressure. We ordered breakfast room service and it arrived very fast and hot (although a little pricey by hotel standards). Check out was contactless and quick. There was a wait for valet to bring up our vehicle. COVID cleaning and precautions were evident. I would stay here again.

Stayed for one night as a weekend staycation. Check in was fast and easy and there were no problems checking in a little early.

The corner room on the 26th floor was bright, modern and clean with great views over Darling Harbour and Barangaroo. The floor to ceiling wall of windows made the room very bright and welcoming. Great bed and pillows for provided an excellent sleep. The bathroom was big and luxurious with a tub and separate shower. As some reviewers have already mentioned, the mini bar fridge is under the bathroom vanity - I personally didn't have a problem with this.

The only annoying aspect to the room was there is no mini bar price list. When calling reception to enquire for one, I was told rather bluntly "oh we don't have them" - like I was a moron for asking. When asking how I was to know how much things cost the reply was "everything is under $10".

We enjoyed the afternoon tea at the Club Millesime on the 35th floor. Great food and beverages and also pre-dinner drinks and snacks. The staff were all very friendly and generous with drink refills. I don't think my wine glass approached empty whilst there.

We had drinks in the Champagne Bar which was also great, but being much closer to the ground, there's no view to speak of. I'd appreciate a little more variety in by the glass options. Accor Plus members can enjoy discounts here.

We had dinner at the Atelier Restaurant which was also excellent. And again, Accor Plus discounts are available.

On check out we discovered that the mini bar items were certainly not "all under $10". I knew this would have been the case when opening the mini of Moet, but the information provided by reception should at least be correct when you ask. That was the only niggle about the stay and I'm definitely come back again.
