The experience was amazing, pool could have been bigger. The location is central to experience Sydney. Pricey but well worth it for a special occasion like our anniversary. Late night room service menu was limited but very prompt
At a 5-Star Hotel in a City where competition is fierce, expectations of meeting every detail are as high as the iconic majesty of the Sydney Opera House itself. Expecting to have in-room electrical power at every moment of a 4-night stay should not be on top of your awareness. Instead, on the last night power went out in the room. Despite efforts to reset the electrical, the issue would return. There were complicating the issues such packing was near impossible to continue our Australian adventure the next day and bathing and hygiene was made difficult if not unsafe. Sleep was difficult due to the electrical blinds and the lack of AC during the Sydney summer night. The issue was repeatedly brought to the attention to management. Unfortunately, resetting the room’s electrical only gave power for a few moments before going out again. To make matters worse, the hotel manager brought security in the middle of the night to question us and ask if we were doing anything in the room to cause the electrical concern. As we check out in the morning, there was no formal response from management with the exception of the front desk confirming the folio’s email on file and the issue to be reviewed. Given the significance, my impression is that the last night billing of our stay should have immediately been removed at minimum. Of further note, I was speaking with another guest at the pool earlier in the day about our return stay at the hotel. Although we shared positive feelings about the hotel, many of the attributes were of the surroundings. We both experienced aging of the facilities and noted that updates were needed throughout as we compared our options in Sydney for other 5-Star Hotels…with electrical power.…
The position of the hotel is wonderful, fantastic access to Sydney Harbour, the city and Opera House. We were advised we could check in at 3pm but the room was not available until 6pm. This was a disappointing start to our stay
I was very excited to stay at the Park Hyatt but was sadly disappointed. The service and hotel cleanliness are good, as you would expect, but the hotel itself is dated (as an aside, the architect made some poor choices in hotel design/layout) and the quality of the food was lacklustre. The "finer touches" that take a hotel experience over the top were also lacking (a couple of very small examples... no chocolates on pillows at Turn Down; no printed itinerary of events in the immediate area on Australia Day). I was lucky enough to redeem some World of Hyatt points for my stay, but had I been paying out of pocket the advertised rates on online booking sites, I would have been very upset at the value for money.
Very beautifully designed hotel, Large rooms with many amenities. Great views of the bay and the Opera House. Breakfast was plentiful, varied and very good quality. Walking distance to ferry terminal and to trams and to the downtown area.
The location, the view from breakfast, the view from our room and the room itself were all amazing. We had this booked through a travel agent, and even questioned whether we wanted this location vs a smaller boutique hotel. We are so glad they pushed back and said, “trust us”….While we normally don’t get breakfast included in our rooms, that’s how it was booked and each of our morning breakfasts were perfect with open window views of the Opera house sipping coffee and enjoying the wonderful preparations.
Asked to upgrade our room to a suite $3800 extra to pay which was available but the manager says minimum 2 night stay, yet suite is booked next night, no flexibility whatsoever unlike last year when just out of covid they gladly accepted 1 night upgrade at 50% discount, seems to me the money making skills of hyatt are sadly lacking, thanks for a disappointing stay which we won't repeat
The location of this property is superb. However you have to leave it to experience it. No matter how many times we attempted to make lunch or dinner reservations, the hotel could not accommodate us. What was disappointing was the amount empty tables. Some had “reserved” on them, however the remained that way for the majority of the day. The room we booked to enjoy the harbour view was not available?? So we settled for then”warehouse view” Breakfast wasn’t great, after many attempts to get 2 poached eggs, we gave up. Room had constant smell of cigarette for neighbours. Pool was used as kids playground, love kids, just when getting splashed by bombing in pool.
We chose to stay in a Opera View Premium room at the very northern end of the hotel. View of the activities in Circular Quay, concert and fireworks was something next level. The room was large 75sqm, toto toilet, bath, dining and lounge areas. Impeccably clean with quality fixtures, automatic blinds, BOSE speaker etc. Large lift and slide full height glass doors to the balconies that automatically shut off the AC when opened. Made for a very quiet and comfortable sleep. Not cheap, $2490 for a romance package with later check out at 1pm, valet parking, arrival gift and breakfast for 2. Would definitely recommend for a one off special event, or a must if money is not an issue.
We were supposed to stay for 2 nights but left after 1 night and will never be back. From check in to leaving early we had the worst stay. Everything seems a problem for the staff, they are not accomodating, kept saying we booked late so they are doing us a favour for even having a room (paying over $3K they are doing me a favour for letting me stay there???), they had no rollaway beds, no valet and no one to take the luggage (they still charge you for valet though even though we’ve left the car miles away and walked to the hotel as roads were closed due to Aus Day), the food was inedible, overall a terrible experience. The worst part was out 4 year old got sick from the food at the hotel. No follow up or apologies from the hotel. We won’t be returning to Park Hyatt.
