I have stayed at the sir Stamford previously and loved our stay . I had a problem in room 614 this weekend with an upside down mattress so the pillow top was on the bottom . The sheet was not the correct size for the bed . There are no house keeping staff on duty at 9.30 pm in the evening if you have a problem. The member of staff on duty asked me what time I checked in as if it was my problem for not reporting it earlier . However, I did not realise the problem until I came to get into bed . I rang the hotel Monday and was told a manger would ring me back. No response . Rang 6 times yesterday and no one answered the phone and I have rung today and after 12 mins of listening to music I gave up. They use the word luxury . It felt very poor . Although the sinks , shower , bath clean the skirting boards are thick with dust as was the marble skirting in bathroom .…
Couldn’t get into our ‘normal’ hotel so chose the one closest in distance to Opera House. Similar price vastly different! This sector be a grand old hotel. Now it’s just old! Small room, threadbare carpet, dingy halls. Horrendous parking!
I have stayed at Sir Stamford on numerous occasions and was always satisfied with all facets of our stays. However this time was a total disappointment. I stayed 6 nights and on three occasions we never had room cleaning done. The first was our second day there. At 4.00 I contacted the front desk and asked if it was happening, and they said they were shirt staffed this not allowing rooms to be cleaned. The second time we came home at 5 pm and the room hadn't been cleaned, and I rang after towels and other items as I was heading out for the evening. We didn't get them til 30 minutes later. The last time was when we left the room at 8 am and came hone at 11 pm. No excuses, no cleaning, no emptying of bins. I was totally disappointed in how this 5 star hotel has fallen so far so quick. Won't be back. Oh we were given a discount for not cleaning on day 1. A grand total of $10. …
Perhaps the only redeeming feature of this place is its location. It's convenient to the heart of Sydney - but so too are lots of other hotels. But apart from the location there is little to commend it. Don't be conned by the images which promote this hotel. The place is surprisingly tired, faded, jaded and knocked about. Carpets and rugs are truly threadbare. Prints are faded. Furniture veneers are knocked about, chipped and broken. Lights in cabinets are randomly blown, shades knocked askew. I could continue the catalogue but you get the idea - just a complete lack of attention to detail, for which you are charged a princely sum. To top it off there is no bar for late night drinks (we had to resort to off site locations). But by the time we discovered that we realised we were really only camped in a store full of bad second hand furniture (a couple of photos to underscore the point) so were not completely surprised. We will stay elsewhere next time we are in the city. Which is often. Our recommendation - go somewhere else to spend your hard earned money.…
My husband n I picked this hotel for its central location to Circular Quay n Vivid . The rooms need TLC n were dated n tired . The price for breakfast was $39 each n was overly priced n average . We have stayed in many hotels around Sydney n the Stamford is not what we expected . We definitely will not be staying there again . Much better hotels around
We stayed at Stamford motel as close to Circular Quay to enjoy Vivid festival. It was great location close to major attractions, also as we travelled from outside Sydney it was easy to locate. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again . Picture view from our room at night.
We've stayed at The Sir Stamford at Circular Quay several times. The location is the main reason we chose to stay here again. We requested a room with a Juliette Balcony so we had views of Circular Quay, and fresh air in our room. The bed and pillows were very clean and comfortable. The staff were very helpful and efficient. It was great getting overnight parking for an additional $10 for 24 hours.
From the complete lack of reply to advertised room service hours after 10pm, to the connected bar's rando table service, it struck me the staff as of time of posting this review - though intelligent - are far from sufficiently trained. Very useful for location. Wouldn't necessarily recommend at less at a pinch - as I was.
Enjoyed our stay location is the key the reception staff very good the room. Had a very. Comfy bed and lounge very clean and large bath room how ever the buffet breakfast was a bit disappointing would stay again if staying. In town
We had the airbnb experience from hell in Sydney so we needed somewhere central clean and restorative! This was it!! Devine huge room, Faye Lu upgraded us to deluxe with balcony that opens to Sydney Harbour view!! Beds were huge (mum and daughter) we each had our own double, marble bathroom with a bath and fluffy towels, gorgeous room service charcuterie board and the best quiet sleep. And do central in circular quay!! And absolutely amazing value at around $200 Australian dollars. This is my new go to hotel in Sydney, it’s like my fav the Windsor in Melbourne only better!!
