We visited the bar and wanted to have drinks at the pier. Unfortunately, it was raining and the sofa outside was completely wet. Bar staff- Jasmine-understood our concern and arranged some dry chairs, moved sofas, placed little lamps on our table and made sure we were comfortable in this weather. She was extremely accommodating and hospitable. We came for an amazing experience and got one. The chocolate dessert suggested by her was also fabulous. The location is beautiful and I will highly recommend.
We very much wanted a place on the water, and we got so much more than a great location. Besides the lovely room, views and great walking distance to places like the Opera House, Circular Quay and the Botanical Gardens, we had the experience of a wonderful staff. There were several different concierges with whom we dealt as well as breakfast staff, desk staff and room staff. Each one was knowledgeable, accommodating and lovely in service and demeanor. If you stay here, do not plan on breakfasting elsewhere as the breakfast offered is broadly varied and outstanding. Again, the biggest plus is the staff and how helpful they were in all sorts of ways.
Fabulous location on the water within short walking distance to Opera House, The Docks area. Staff exceptional friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Spacious room, very comfortable bed. Great selection for breakfast. Highly recommend.
Such an amazing location and room. Special thanks to Eugene for having a special birthday surprise of champagne and icecream. The loveliest staff. Couldn’t recommend highly enough. Such a great break for me even though is the city I live in. Thank you!!!
We booked a Luxury Escape 3 day deal for $1,100. We overlooked the vivid balls which changed colour it seemed like every 10 seconds, an amazing vivid experience once the crane was relocated after 2 days. Breakfasts were delicious but the room was too small for the number of guests as it was too cold to sit on the really beautiful adjoining verandah with sensational views unless you were accustomed to cold chilly winds. There was often a shortage of something important, ie large breakfast plates or inside seating. However, the stay was most enjoyable and so so convenient to vivid, restaurants, The Rocks, circular Key etc. I enjoyed my birthday experience.
We stayed at Pier One for a few nights and we loved it. The rooms are really clean and cosy. The sunset views from the bar having a drink are one of the best things you can do during your stay. All staff were excellent but I would like to thank Nicholas, he made us feel that we were taken care of, if every hotel had someone like him it would be amazing.
Overall, as a Platinum member of Marriott for 8 years, I am particularly displeased by one of the front desk staff (a lady standing on the left hand side after the front door entrance) the morning when I exercised the member privilege of a guarantee 4 pm check out. She told me the late check out is “subject to availability”. Come on, Marriott rules are crystal clear in that unless the hotel is listed as a convention centre/resort (the hotel is neither) on the Marriott system, the guaranteed late check out applies. I told her the rules and she still stubbornly insisted her mistakes, until she gets tired and said “OK whatever, fine you don’t need to check out early”. I have never seen anyone talking to their guests at a hotel at par with Autograph Collections with such manners. What’s the “fine whatever”? Get some proper etiquettes and attitudes please. I will say though there was a gentleman in his shirt with a blazer who I interacted with for a number of times (who I unfortunately don’t recall his name) but was being genuinely helpful. He asked if we need umbrella when we headed out proactively which I really appreciate. In light of that, this review is a 3 out of 5 instead of 1 out of 5 given the lack of manners of the other staff.…
Stayed in a connecting Water View Room with family during Vivid, we booked a Bonvoy package which included breakfast and hotel credits. Location is fantastic, easy access to Harbour Bridge and Opera House and nested around the picturesque Walsh Bay, the hotel is currently going under refurbishment till end of 2022, this meant both restaurant and amenities are limited, hotel staff were very attentive and helpful, which made our stay enjoyable and pleasant. The rooms are little aged and some work might be required to refresh the bathroom and carpets. There were also issues with the connecting doors between the two rooms, otherwise we had a good stay and would love to come back once the renovation is complete. Thank you and see you soon =)
If you look back you will note I frequently get the pleasure of a Sydney Stay and this one was once again a post theatre spoil to couple with vivid. Background: Many moons ago Guru and I were avid Marriott fans but the product didn't quite fit the brief and as our stays dwindled our membership lapsed. Midnight beckoned last week so I decided to rekindle our relationship. Last stayed here at Pier One too many aeons ago when it first opened. Booking: Due to some health issues I decided to stay as close to the theatre as possible this time. Pier One had a competitive price so it was locked in. Check In: The walk from CQ was possibly a little more than the body was up for, but after standing behind Mr DYKWIA for some time I was checked in and sent on my way to 360, Opera House glimpses and western bridge views. Lunch in the bar I took the opportunity to recover, Room: Right about now I was a bit ?? as each time a door closed the room seemed to shake (this is the delight of being in a water based venue) and i needed a snooze. Waking a few hours later, much refreshed I hobbled around vivid by day. The room was spacious and well fitted out. Bathroom tiles need a good scrub or exit mould treatment. Mini bar was thorough but other than the milk and tea making, superfluous to needs. The Bar: We had an early booking for dinner but I decided to watch sunset from the bar Perfect spot but very crowded and noisy due to an across the pier function. No issues for me. After a great night out at The Wharf, I walked Vivid slowly for around an hour. Pier One is the perfect launch location The integration of the festival is also well done. Sleep. Hmmm... This gal wakes at 5am consistently, holidays or not. Not sure what happened but the phone buzzed at 8am and woke me. Sleep quality = memorable Breakfast: BYO Cereal, because I need the fibre. Coffee machine is excellent as were the tea options Check Out: Top marks to the staff Front of house, Asked how the show was, and generally made me feel like a valued guest. Stay again: yep, yep, yep. Just wish they had a pool so I can stay in summer. OS Visitor ranking-- hard because I don't think it is one of the best located in Sydney. Pre cruise from OPT OMG yes. Overall: if staff service is a big thing for you then this is the place to be. Iconic views, almost, Relaxed and homely, yep. Snap on the doorstep of everything, no…
Had a lovey time at pier one. The breakfast buffet was delicious, great choice of food and such a great view, having breakfast on the pier. Amanda and Eugene went above and beyond to make our stay the best little getaway. Can’t wait to come back again!!!
