Brilliant location easy walk to quays, very nice breakfast, great pool/spa area, rapid lifts, large clean rooms, bed was huge and comfortable. Large shower & seperate bath! Well stocked mini bar and fridge. Friendly and helpful staff. Yes a tad worn in places but very minimal and doesn't detract from overall feel. Definitely recommend it.
My wife and I choose to stay at Amora on Jamison Hotel in the Sydney CBD. we are so happy we did. The staff were amazing and the room outstanding. The hotel is located close the Wynyard Heavy Train Station and Bridge Street Light Rail station. The hotel was one stop from Circular Quay or a five minute walk. You can also walk through Wynyard Station to Darling Harbour. Our room was a Deluxe King room with a corner view on the 33rd floor. I mentioned the staff. Drew and Robin greeted us and were amazing. Such a professional team. In fact all of the staff were so friendly and welcoming. We highly recommend the hotel.
Where do I start? Nothing in this hotel from start to finish can be recommended. It relies on past glory from the certificate in the lobby stating that it was one of the best hotels in 2007 and all standards have radically deteriorated in the following years. The room had nothing to recommend it. The furniture was old, dated and chipped. No upgrade or maintenance since the 1970s and it resembled a hotel from the eastern bloc hotel from the soviet era. The bathroom was grim. The shower head was broken, the bath chipped and general standards were poor. The Air Con would not turn down below about 22 degrees. We were shown other rooms but the situation was the same even as high as 23.5 degrees. The moment we arrived we knew it was not a good choice and was compounded the following morning when we found blood on the duvet and, on closer inspection, we discovered the mattress protector was gross/vile with the number of stains!!! Photos provided. We decided we could not stay another night and after a lot of discussion the hotel agreed to refund the following five nights but flatly refused to reimburse us for the night we had stayed. After we left we were informed that the hotel had been a quarantine hotel. …
To be honest we were very underwhelmed by this hotel, decor in the rooms is dated & frankly in very poor taste, staff seemed either poorly trained or just bordering on disinterested. Breakfast was a rabble, happy hour in their bar was far from happy, after asking which drinks were included I ordered two beers & two sparkling wines, server put them all up on bar & asked for$50, I explained that it should only be $28 as the drinks were $7 each during happy hour, she responded that she “thought “ I wanted the $18 per glass Prosecco, then proceeded to pour them down the sink in front of me & refill with the “happy hour” wine which incidentally was vile. We were staying for two nights but needless to say we did not return to either the bar or their restaurant
We have stayed at this hotel 2 or 3 times before and it has been very good, however this time we booked a room for 3 adults and at nearly $500 a night i would've expected more. This time all we got was room with 2 x large king singles in it and the only thing that differentiated thiis from a double room was an extra towl set in bathroom. In the wardrobe there were only 2 dressing gowns and 2 pairs of slippers which indicates this normally a double room, we were very disappointed and for the cost expected more. If we ever have to go to Sydney again we will not stay there.
We had booked via our travel agent booking 3 rooms - 2 King and 1 Twin On arrival around midday we were advised that our rooms were not ready and that normal checkin was 2.00 pm. I checked with reception to double check that the twin room would indeed have 2 separate beds and after 25 minutes was told this was the case. We left our luggage with the concierge. After 3.00 pm we came back to check in. The twin room people were checked in and went up to their rooms. There were significant issues - the beds were not made up); one mattress cover was soiled with blood stains and the basin in the bathroom was dirty including with pubic hair. Additionally their luggage was not in the room. They came back to the concierge reported the issues and again went out of the hotel unable to check in. Meanwhile it took over 30 minutes for the king room check to occur. We were told that the booked King rooms were not available and asked to take rooms with 2 double beds and a balcony. With did this to make things easier for the check in person. We went to our rooms and our luggage was not there. We were told it would be 5 minutes and it was well over 30 minutes before it arrived. The next day I had folded back the doona and the doona inside was exposed showing what appears to be blood spots. This level of service and cleanliness is substandard for any rated hotel let alone one which is rated 5 star. We paid $2430 for the rooms and were not offered a voucher or a discount or even a drink at the bar We are a family who travel to Sydney regularly and are often asked for our recommendations on accommodation. It is difficult to recommend the Amora Jamieson given our experience. We have also given feedback to our travel agent so they are aware of the standard of accommodation and service offered.…
This hotel is absolutely not 5 star, either is the service had a horrific experience dealing with hotel, rooms are disgusting, been waiting over a week for a call back from manager, list of issues with the deluxe room: - Pubic hairs were found in the bath and toilet (attached images) - Mould on the bath (attached images) - Cracked tiles all over the bath (attached images) - Dust and grime everywhere (attached images) - The lamps had stains all over them (attached images) I would certainly not recommend this place.
Stayed twice here. Hotel ok but not 5 star. Except for location which is excellent near metro and tram. Few restaurants nearby but more in circular bay or along to Chinatown on tram few minutes away. Hotel on hill so bit of climb. Even though we had emailed saying we would be arriving early, no notice taken and told to go away til 2.30. But got room 12.30 on 6th floor. Good size room and bathroom but safe and tv remote broken. Very little wardrobe space (8hangers) or drawers especially if you have a lot of luggage. No dressing table or stool or desk space. Bed super very soft and comfy but not everyone’s choice. Second stay upgraded to corner room on19th floor which was slightly better. And had view of bay. The rooms need attention very tired with furniture scratched and tiles in bathroom needing attention. Towels ridiculously small and no bottles of water supplied which I feel a 5 star hotel should provide. Overall hotel tried looking and needs up grade. Staff at concierge very helpful. Special thanks to Sean who helped us out with medical issue. Most staff we found very surly including restaurant, bars and reception. (With few exceptions) Breakfast ok but not 5 star. Egg station not available at weekends!! And very expensive for what it was. Ordered bar food one night food just put down in front of us with no plates, cutlery or napkins. Spa pool area again needs attention especially tiles missing on pillars. Would recommend for location but not standard I would expect for price. Higher rooms have better outlook. Club class room on top floors. …
We stayed at The Amora in Sydney on our last visit and enjoyed it then, so we didn’t look too far for a different hotel this time. The hotel is just off George Street and is a 10 minute walk from The Rocks and Circular Quay. We had a quiet and spacious room on floor 13. Extremely comfortable bed, good facilities including quick WiFi and big bathroom. The hotel staff are all polite and courteous. Not sure the breakfast was quite as good as six years ago but still good. Considering how close the hotel is to the above, I think it is good value and would recommend.
