Was supposed to have our first three nights here the downstairs reception was welcoming first impression was ok behound that was a nightmare in need of a deep cleaning carpets on corridors towards our room in need of cleaning or updating entering our room was a nightmare I know we’re the saying comes from now you can’t swing a cat around in here🙄 literally you couldn’t once again the dirty carpet flowed into the room there weren’t any positives about this room whatsoever depressing !! We checked out the day after I wouldn’t even score this hotel as it’s in desperate need of a uplift in more ways than one plus needs a true and honest advertising .
Room had a terrible smell and there was black mould on the ceiling in the bathroom. Dust on the carpet. I have no idea how your hotel has a 4 star rating. I’m sure black mould is not acceptable at a 4 star hotel. Even a 3 star motel is mould free! I checked out the following day, and went down the road to Ace hotel. If yours is 4 stars then they probably should have 8!
I spent 15 nights at Very Central and loved it. I upgraded to a Comfy King room and glad I did for this long a stay. The extra 3 or 4 square metres makes a big difference. Yes, these are small rooms compared to many hotels, bur having travelled extensively in Asia I’m used to small rooms, these are excellent value for the price. I’m not sure why guests complain in their reviews about the small rooms when there are photos as well as square metres are clearly disclosed. There are no drawers or closets, but I just placed my clothes on top of my suitcase and hung up what I needed on the hooks provided. There is ample shelf space in the bathroom as well as a small shelf that runs along the length of the room at the head of the bed that provides extra space for odds and ends. Having a window that opens is fantastic too, although the street can be noisy. In addition to the surface above the fridge and safe, there is a rack where you can hang things and then another shelf on top of that - great for extra storage, maybe not if you are short! Great location and the reception staff are very friendly and helpful. They are not stingy when asking for extra coffee, tea or sugar. There’s a dispenser in the lobby with cold water, both still and chilled, which is a great amenity to fill bottles for your room or for the day out. I was thrilled when I went to grab an iron and ironing board from the closet in the hallway and found a microwave! This really helps with meal options. I suggest adding this to the welcome letter. The room was immaculate when I moved in, but my one area for improvement to management is the consistency of housekeeping. Upon check in I received a welcome email with a lot of helpful info about the hotel, including housekeeping. It indicated that there would only be light housekeeping (towel change, and amenity replenishment) each day, and full cleaning on day 7. To my surprise I received a full cleaning on day 4 which was great, but then there was no full cleaning for the rest of my stay, so no sheet change or sink/surface cleaning for the last 11 days of my stay. Although they have posted that if you leave your towels hanging, they will not replace them (place towels on the floor for replacement) 12 of the 15 days they replaced the hanging towels. Also, they continually left extra shampoo conditioner etc even though I had ample supplies. One day they left me three towels, so I wanted to keep one for yoga. I rolled it up and placed on the shelf above the bed. They kept taking it! There just doesn’t seem to be a lot of common sense when it comes to housekeeping. Very small issues indeed and in a way they seem to be ‘over-performing” IE always giving new towels and extra amenities. And I must say the towels were top quality as were the tissues (3 ply!). The bed was comfy with great pillows. Not withstanding the minor housekeeping issues which are hardly worth mentioning this will be my new go-to hotel in Sydney if the rates remain the same as it’s a tremendous value proposition.…
Nothing works at this hotel first. Bathroom fan didn’t work. So I had to change rooms but still the fan didn’t work in the second room. The staff said the maintenance person is away and they can’t fix it. However I decided to stay in the second room as it was slightly more spacious. Then the water kettle didn’t work and had to ask for a replacement. TV had issues and the staff had to come and fix it. Toilet and bedding were dirty. Luckily there were two beds so I could use one bed which had clean bedding. The fridge was so loud and it was making a screaming sound time to time. Most annoying part was I had to always go down the reception and ask for help as they never picked up the phone and also not allowed to leave messages. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone.
This is not a 4 Star Hotel. As a frequent traveller, overseas and in Australia, this would be the worst 4-star hotel I have experienced. The best I can say about the Veriu is that my bed was comfortable. Apart from that my stay was poor verging on bad. A short walk from reception is the lift. The lift, not one of the lifts. One lift to service guests and staff. Perhaps if it had been a pleasant lift, but unfortunately once a guest leaves reception the surroundings get decidedly tawdry. I walked from the lift to my room with an increasing feeling of dread. The hallway is seedy, gloomy, grubby. I'm running out of adjectives. I open the door to my room, light streams in from the window. I begin to lift my hopes, then look around. There's some kind of shelving area which houses the fridge (empty), and there's a small area for the kettle and a meagre supply of T-bags and milk. Coffee pods for a machine that needed a good scrub. Strangely, the shelving unit has a hanging rail over the top of the kettle. Strange, until I realise the room doesn't have a cupboard. Nada. An odd contraption of hooks has been placed on the wall near the door. And the bathroom. The basin looks as though it's been lifted from a caravan. Tiny. The shower recess is huge, large enough for two people. No towel rails, just rings held to the wall with strips of left over imitation leather from the bedhead. On the fourth day, I left the service room sign outside my door. Returned to the room to find the towels hadn't been changed. The bar area is just as bonkers as the room. Stock isn't replaced, but staff are keen to sell guests the plastic glasses of wine covered with clear film that are located on a shelf. The white wine isn't refrigerated. And as for food. There may have been a breakfast area but who knows. I had fabulous breakfasts at the nearby Paramount Coffee Project.…
It’s the staff that make this place what it is, Ideally located for everything, rooms are basic but clean, you can get anywhere as all bus routes are close by, however walking anywhere took me only 20 minutes Great on a lovely day. they have a coffee shop which is open early till 2pm,which offered cooked breakfast, avocado on toast & pastries, I was offered a complimentary late check out at 11am normally 10pm, they also are able to store luggage if you have a late flight Bravo Veriu Central made my week long stay perfect
Spent 6 nights here whilst based in Sydney for the T20 World Cup. Very convenient to get to from the airport, it’s a short walk from Central Station. Rooms are quite small but well maintained and cleaned regularly. Staff have all been very helpful especially Christina on reception who was so welcoming and friendly throughout my stay. Walked back to the hotel from Circular Quay in 30 mins so everything is accessible. Room rates are very reasonable and joined Veriu as a member to get a 10% discount. Would definitely stay here again - it’s an affordable budget hotel and in my experience a very good one.
Booked 4 nights from Friday to Tuesday in a Junior Suite, we were 2 female friends in their early 60s. - King bed not split after multiple emails and a phone call confirming a twin bedding request prior to arriving at 4pm. - Told housekeeping had left and we would have to sleep together in one bed for first night (no way) they eventually split the beds to a twin - informed no housekeeping over weekend but can request clean towels, tea, coffee etc from reception and full room service clean after 3 days. - Junior Suite, good size, with sofa and chairs, table and 2 TVs - overall clean and beds very comfortable - air conditioner very noisy and full of dust and unable to open windows - Shower blocked, informed reception, told no maintenance over weekend, maybe housekeeping could try. Nobody came and not offered another room, we took off cover from shower grate and it was absolutely disgusting, there was a MASS of black hair blocking drain that we cleared ourselves. - emailed photo to Veriu and also showed photo and told manager and no apology. - Monday morning we asked for room service as it had been 3 nights, all that was done was 1 clean towel each left and rubbish bin emptied. Overall I would not recommend this hotel and way overpriced - …
Despite presenting as a modern-ish hotel, the place was dated and filthy. I honestly felt like I needed to sanitise when I left - couldnt wait to get out of there. On the day I arrived I was told that the cleaning was delayed and that I’d be called when my room was available. At 6pm I still had not received a call so turned up at the hotel and was told they’d forget to call - no apology, just a quick check in with all the attitude to go with it. On entering the room it was evident that the room was filthy - stained chairs; dirty carpet; broken aircon and no towels. The reception doesn’t answer the phone and diverts to the bookings line - this was useless so I had to walk to reception and ask for towels. The lifts are old and broken - see photos of the filthy carpet. If you need an iron and ironing board - good luck - there is nothing in the room and the ‘shared’ iron was black and the ironing board was filthy. The black from the iron transferred into my shirt and all in all this was a horrible experience. If you value cleanliness and even basic service dont book this hotel. It’s rotten.…
Visited Sydney for the first time for a wedding and extended stay. I purposely booked a larger room due to the length of stay, which was a lovely space for one person. Wasn't much storage space so lived out my suitcase. Bed very comfortable, shower excellent. Generally very quiet so slept very well. Oddly, having had a daily restock of tea/coffee, and the occasional full clean in the first week, this seemed non existent in the second week. One evening I returned and the housekeeping data sheets and door card had been left next to the dirty cups in my room. The data sheet indicated I should have had a full clean but looks like they had been called off to do something and then not returned as room was half done. Didn't seem to get a clean or restock any other day after that but I wasn't in room much and reception had plenty of tea, coffee pods and milk when asked. The fridge in the room was well used. Chose the hotel due to proximity of rail stations and bus stops as had not previously visited the city and would be happy to return. The neighbouring cafés - Cafe Wyndham and Basket Brothers - both do excellent all day menus at a reasonable price. The hotel is close to a lot of Thai restaurants and so close to convenience stores to stock up on Timtams! The reception area is nicely laid out and did enjoy a glass of wine at the end of my busy days! …
