This convenient hotel is located in the heart of Surry Hills, a couple of minutes walk to central station (trains, buses and light rail) which is surrounded by casual and more formal dining options.
Unfortunately the not everything is up to standard when it comes to cleaning, especially the smaller items in the room (bed side lamps, and in particular a disgustingly putrid remote control - which was also broken). Pillows are fairly average as well, so bring your own.
To top it off the cleaning regime of the front of the hotel includes a leaf blower at 6am to clean the front of the property, so isn't idea for those rooms facing the front of the hotel on the lower floors.
The coffee station in the lobby is well stocked and is a great addition to the hotel, along with the disco lift.

Thank you RexBannerTravels for your feedback. I am glad to hear that overall your experience was positive especially our location and coffee station facilities. I am disappointing to hear that the cleanliness in your room didn't meet your expectations. I will certainly bring this to our Housekeeping team attention and ensure this to be carefully noted and actioned. I will also note the leaf blower timing which usually done after 8am for less than 3 minutes as part of of our general routine in our Hotel Lobby. Please reach out to Hotel directly so we could assist you with the room reservation that more suitable to your needs. I hope to welcome you again in the near future. Regards, Rano Hotel Operations Manager

I had paid for a queen bedroom and yes, there was a queen sized bed, but shoved against a huge pillar in the centre of the room. On the other side of the pillar was an empty space with a teeny cupboard/shelving unit. I would think this would be the room they give someone who has paid the lowest rate rather than someone who’s paid an upgrade. The hotel was full so there wasn’t an option to move and I was so glad I only booked one night. A small thing - There was a note on the bed saying there was a surprise under the pillow. The surprise was there was nothing under the pillow but a sheet. I checked with the night manager, a very helpful young man, who said it referred to a $20 voucher if you book direct. That was on the bed but not under the pillow. I have to say, for me, Rydges down the road is a much nicer option with more comfortable beds.

I stay at Hotel 57 in Surry Hills often as its close to our head office, their location is perfect and central, rooms are clean and value for money. It’s very close to central station and the new light rail, which makes it very easy to get around. The staff are always friendly and happy to help with any requests I make.
I’d recommend Hotel 57 for Bussiness or short term get aways, I’ve stayed at many of the surrounding hotels over the years, but Hotel 57 is the best option in my opinion for the value.
There are some great restaurants close by, Tokyo Bird, Zeus, Al Taglio or a hop skip and a jump over to Spice alley where I would highly recommend Holly Duck, fantastic modern Chinese.
For mornings, I’d highly recommend Taste, directly across the road from Hotel 57’s front door! Taste have the best coffee and one of the best very cheap Bacon and egg rolls or Fresh smashed Avo on Devine French/Vietnamese baked breads! The pastries are great too! Amazing!

Arrived late from at the end of a long day of business travel. I travelled alone and had been visiting customers, I work in IT and have to be representative, I would a cross between smart casual and business attire. I arrived around 9 pm and was met by a rather unfriendly receptionist. After some small talk about my day and finishing off the check in she asked if I was waiting for a "friend", I was rather shocked as in my mind I was called a wh**e. Then I asked if there was bottled water in my room and she rather curt told me "no just tap water in lobby". I asked "really no bottled?" After a couple of repetitions she had bottled water which I could buy for $2, which is fine. If I had not been that tired, I would have laughed. Next, and this is a pro tip if you want to stay here: turning on the light in the bathroom also turns on the extraction fan in the bathroom, but it does NOT turn off with the light. I called the reception as I did not want the fan on all night as the room is very small (known & fine). You have to turn off the main power switch AND PULL OUT the card out of the room power switch, wait for 30 seconds for all power to go off and make sure that the bathroom switch is off. Then turn on the power again. Rinse and repeat if you use the light in the bathroom again if you don't want the fan on all night. She told me this is the same for all rooms. You cannot make this up. Two points as the room is clean and nice, not acceptable customer service in my mind.

At just under $130 per night and so close to pubs and transport, convenient to Centennial Park and Clovelly Beach was a top little get away.

The room had very little natural light and no chance for getting air so being a two night stay a freshen up/service of the room would have been nice. OK, I get what do you get for $130 so probably reasonable.

57 Hotel is in a perfect location for doing business in Sydney, or for visitors to the city. It’s close to all forms of transport, and for those of us coming from regional NSW by train, it’s literally a 5 minute walk from Central station.

At the end of the working day, there’s heaps of restauarants and bars to choose from. It’s a vibrant, buzzing area.

The staff at 57 are always happy and helpful. And the management has gone out of their way to provide excellent service and support.

The rooms are not massive, but when you’re in Sydney for work or tourism, let’s face it, you’re out and about most of the time anyway. That said, they’re comfortable, and have everything you need.

A fine choice for a Sydney stay for work and pleasure.

Convenient location and well-themed decor. Biggest feature is the discolift which is a nice touch. My flights kept getting cancelled due to severe weather and the staff were so understanding and helpful in extending my stay. The staff are very friendly and have lovely smiles.
My original room had a problem with the hot water and the staff got onto the problem straight away. My second room had no issues.
I really liked the fact that TVs in rooms had a volume limit so that it didn't impede on other guests' comfort.

This was our second visit, and it won’t be the last. Perfectly located, neat & cosy rooms, stylish decor and friendly, attentive staff. Combine that with easy access to tea/coffee making facilities, a simple (fruit/bakery) breakfast thrown in, and a value for money rate, you couldn’t ask for anything more in a hotel located in one of the greatest cities in the world.

The property's location is really good. The wifi in the hotel is the best I have ever used (even better than the one I have at my home). The staff is quite friendly, courteous and helpful too. Loved the complimentary coffee, tea and snacks served in the lobby 24x7.

What the hotel can improve upon is spending 20$ at Kmart to buy 10 plates to provide it to their customers. Although the room rent (typically at 200-250$ per night is quite reasonable) but it wouldnt hurt to spend 20$ to atleast provide proper plates to your customers. Rather than giving them plastic cutlery.

It was a good stay. Not bad for a 4-star hotel. More coporate than family, which I really liked. Close to everything including shop, gardens and Sydney Opera House. Central train station is 200 metres away where I could catch a train to anywhere else including Blue Mountain.

One thing to improve is housekeeping to be doing their job properly. My room was forgotten to be cleaned, which wasnt a big deal because sometimes it happens. But when the cleaning finally happened, they didnot fill any shower gel (while empty bottle was present in bathroom) I had to ring reception to assist on that so I could have a shower. It was like a mistake after another mistake. But reception is helpful & asssisting and seemed to pay more attentionntp details.

Other than that, comfortable stay. Complimenrary bakery in the morning. Complimentary coffee all day. Complimentary fruit like apples at night at the lobby. The room has aircom, fridge, TV, security box, iron and hair dryer.

Hi Tsudrats, Thank you for sharing your review with us and the TripAdvisor community. It's nice to hear that our accommodation and central location were well received. Our proximity to Central stations, some of the best Sydney's restaurants and multiple entertainment venues do make up for fantastic stay! I am sorry to read that on this occasion we fell short of our usually high housekeeping standards. I love how on reviews you a CV t like you actually care. Early morning when i told front desk they told me the manger would be in soon and have them talk to me, never happened. When leaving i again let the staff at reception know how disappointed i was, they told me the manger would be in within the hour and call me, then let me struggle with all my luggage alone to try and get a cab. Management never called. I ended up calling, i finally got the manger, she is one of the rudest " customer service " rep and i use that term very loosely. She was rude, unhelpful, and actually argude with me. Then her manager called me and i realised now i was probably talking to the rudest senior management ive spoken to. She was ruder. She argued even more, tryibg to justify every bad bit of feed back given, even after i told her the reason i was in Sydney ad the horrible circumstances of my visit and the last 12 mths. When i told her i wanted at least 12 my money back she told me because i booked theough a website that i hadnt booked through, but a completely different not even close in name, she coildnt, she told me she would speak to them, she didnt...now yohr on my reviews making out you have some resemblance of customer service and asking me to contact you...you have all my details, surely if you actually did want to try fix this you would of phoned or email me??? Or do upu have so many complaints that mine is just one of many and you cabt figure out who i am? I thibk i stayed in I think i stayed in the same room as Darreng53 and feel for you, how disgusting does the room smell, loud is yhe room and annoying is that staff toilet? Don't be silly enough to stay here, again if you really want to contact me you would of.

Hi - is there overnight parking nearby? thanks
Answer from 57 Hotel
Sydney, Australia
Thank you for your car-parking enquiry at 57 Hotel. We have an affiliation with a car park option, just a short 5-10 minute walk away from our hotel. We can offer you parking at $35.00 for 24 hours this comes with multiple exits. Please keep in mind that the car-parking is very popular and may get full at times. We ask that you proceed to the hotel and complete the check in process before heading to the parking, as we need to generate you a pin that takes 10 minutes to activate. I hope you find the above information useful and look forward to welcoming you to 57 Hotel. Please do not hesitate to contact me or any of the team if you would like any further information.

The room we had during our stay included a king size bed and a small pullout bed as a suite. We did not need the small bed but it came with the room they had available the morning we arrived. It was nice because we arrived before the typical check in and they could provide us with something right away. The layout of the room and bathroom is very open and modern. There was no traditional, separate bathroom with a door. But you can obtain privacy with the use of curtains that act as a barrier between the space used for sleeping and the bathroom amenities. As for views, our view was of the busy street. I’m not sure whether there are any views of the city from any room. We did not pick this place for its view but for the location to the harbor. We were only there for a night.
