Staying next door at Sydney's YHA -The Rocks and decided to walk over and give it a try. Wow, great Aussie burger!! So juicy and delicious. Good selection of beer on tap as well. We liked all the historic charm, we will definitely be back!!

We spent three nights at the Australian Heritage Hotel a.k.a The Bed and Breakfast at The Rocks. It is a number of rooms on top of an old heritage pub, so people should understand what they are getting for the price. Yes, as with many of the other reviews, the place is in dire need of a makeover. Carpets are...

On our city walkmwe stopped by as this pub was reported to be worth a visit due to its unique split level lay out. The pub also has an interesting pressed iron roof. They serve Schafer Brewery beer ( only they do). We had the Bavarian beer which was very nice. We returned later that evening for dinner and to...

After enduring the rather grueling travel from the USA to Sydney it was truly a needed and welcome assurance and pleasure to be greeted by the staff with informal warmth and familiarity that would extend throughout our stay. The Australian Heritage Hotel is situated within The Rocks, a neighborhood noted for its often stunning historic architecture, facades and walkways annotated...

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The location is great, the staff treats you better than family and the beds are comfortable. The free breakfast consisted of muesli and/or cornflakes, orange/apple juice, coffee/tea, yogurt, toast and pb/jam, and was certainly sufficient to get us on our way in the morning. We also tried several items from the food menu and...

Called in for a drink while out on a walk, It was a early afternoon and the place was already starting to get busy, we sat outside as the weather was good. There was a good selection of drinks and the staff were very friendly.

This hotel is very old but nice and clean. We had the suite with a private bath but the shared bathrooms looked great. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast bar was good and so was the pizza downstairs in the pub. Great location, right down in the harbour where most hotels are pretty expensive. We stayed during...

We met with friends to have pizza and a drink. We had an emu and kangaroo pizza. It was delicious with a sweet taste. The meat pieces were so small that it was difficult to identify them as meat. $22.00 for a small. We should have had a large. Had apple cider for drinks.

Very authentic, 100 year old hotel, as much of the original is preserved as possible. You do have to give up some amenities like AC and your own bathroom, but hey when in Rome. The Staff truly makes up for it... They run a great little pub with great Pizza just downstairs, and you are walking distance from everything.

Staying in The Rocks

Neighbourhood Profile
The Rocks
The first residents of the Rocks were convicts and sailors from the old nation. As the oldest neighbourhood in the city, the area's cobblestone streets host more than 100 heritage sites and buildings, including the oldest house in Sydney, Camden Cottage, which was built in 1816. Taste a “midi “ or a “schooner” of beer and dine “al fresco” on the waterfront at some of the oldest pubs in Sydney. The weekend markets at the Rocks are where you can find local artists' hand-made souvenirs, organic food and designer jewelry in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. To enjoy some of the best Australian and international contemporary art, the MCA museum is open every day and select evenings. At the end of a long day of sightseeing, be sure to save energy to dance the night away at the area's many late night entertainment venues.
