I enjoyed my stay at the Diplomat. The room was clean and included a kitchenette. I bought snacks at the nearby Woolworth's and used the refrigerator. I also used the washer and dryer in the laundry room plus had breakfast twice at Stump's cafe and dinner at Uncles Tavern. The motel staff was friendly and helpful. Todd Mall is a short walk. The motel is well located. As a visually impaired traveler, being able to walk to shops is a plus.

Have stayed here a few times and it has always been good. This stay was on NYE so we expected noise, but it was nice and quiet. The room was clean, and the bathroom facilities appeared new. Comfy bed good shower we were given a drink and coffee voucher when checking in certainly used those. It is the middle of town a great location will stay here again.

Great location in the centre of town, 24/7 reception, secure parking, good pool, restaurant and café on site. We arrived on a Friday and had to call reception twice in the night because the neighbours were so drunk and causing a raucous, plus the road was very noisy with people and cars. I asked to move my family as we could not sleep even with ear plugs! We were moved above the kitchen by the exhausts - okay at night but we could not sit on the balcony during the day because of the noise. The drunk neighbours were kicked out, and nothing was done in compensation for our loss of sleep or discomfort. I would not risk staying here again.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights and it was just terrible. We checked in and was given our keys to find the room. When we found the roof we were confronted with stains all over the wall, bed, and the carpet was just disgusting. The bathroom has mould round all the silicone and the shower door didn't shut correctly. There was visible damp on the corner of the room and the place smelt horrible. We went straight to the website to compare their photos with what we had in front of us. Which looks nothing like how they advertise. We went to the reception where the staff seemed oblivious. We asked if there was a possible upgrade and even offered to pay more - but there was no rooms. We looked online to see alternative options and again came up empty. As we were out most days and only there for two nights we had to stay. Just when we thought the place couldn't get any worse. After returning late at night from a day trip we found a cockroach on the floor in the bedroom!!! The thing was massive and in the end we had to put a cup on top of it with a Bible as a weight. We went to reception to notify them of this but when the staff just looked uncomfortable at the thought of having to do anything and began looking for bug spray!? We gave up and said just leave it and we will sleep in the room with a cockroach in a cup. We left very early the next day to get away from the disgusting place as quickly as possible. DO NOT STAY HERE The reviews shows fairly good score but this is false and should not be trusted.

We really liked the Diplomat. Our room was clean and comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful. The food in Uncle's Tavern was really good and Reasonably priced with lots of choice. There was also a well-stocked bar. Breakfasts excellent value.

This motel is an actual joke. DO NOT STAY HERE! Headliner: they ripped us off and the room was terrible. We couldn't change or modify our booking on booking.com from 3 nights to 2 nights but we messaged the property and they confirmed it would be fine. When we arrived, they said we couldn't change the booking and had to pay for whatever what we booked via booking.com. I suggested we cancel it and rebook for two nights directly with them to make life easy for them because the staff looked stressed. Little did I know it would mean that we had to pay another over $150 for our stay for ONE LESS NIGHT. When we approached them about what we thought must of been a mistake on the credit card, they said it was because booking.com undercuts them and we now had to pay their direct rates (which is hardly our fault that they advertise through that platform). When we argued that this wasn't fair or communicated to us earlier, the staff said there was nothing they could do and when we asked for a solution, literally just stood there in a stare off with us. It is unacceptable that they thought this was okay. They didn't inform us of the price change when we initially spoke to them and we only cancelled the booking under their advice. Basically, they ripped us off and weren't even sorry about it. On top of that, the room is disgusting. We paid over $450 for two nights and the curtain doesn't even open properly and is zip tied to the curtain rail because its broken, the towels are tatty and ripped, the shower and the shower head are crusted over with soap scum, the shower door doesn't close and the fly screen has huge holes in it. There were also hairs from the previous tenants on the bathroom floor, there is a musty smell throughout the room and the bed is old and dips in so has no back support. They also shut the carpark gates so you can't leave at night, which is just ridiculous. I'd caution everyone to stay away. The staff are incompetent, management are unreasonable and corrupt and they do not care about customer service. If I could give them zero stars, I would of

Friendly and helpful staff went above and beyond to make my stay enjoyable. Great location within walking distance of main town mall and lots of shops and attractions. Highly recommend the pub and cafe next door too. Would stay there again.

· Nothing to like about this place - the worst motel I have stayed in anywhere in Australia. Many cheaper motels provide a far better service than this place. Do yourself a favour and choose another hotel. It is expensive for what it provides. You will get better value at other places in Alice. I would have rated this place a zero if I could. Disliked · The cleanliness of the rooms leave a lot to be desired - filthy showers, dirty floors, stained furnishings. Towels were very thin. Had to ask for a bathmat. Room not serviced, had to ask for clean towels and replenish body wash. Wish I had read the reviews before booking. I saw that management had committed to improving the cleanliness back in May but people still to continue to complain about how dirty the rooms are. The two rooms we stayed in were the dirtiest rooms I have ever encountere in years of travelling. Seems that management only pay lip service to customer complaints.

Location is great in the centre of town and that's about the best I can say about the Diplomat. Arrived to a smelly room, dirty unvacced carpet, poo marks in the toilet bowl, spit scum in the hand basin, curious? splatter marks on the walls, grey sheets, a broken air conditioner, pillows that I would put in the rubbish bin (mis-shapen and yellow, old and stained), dirty cups, busted up old bar fridge, the wardrobe base full of dust, curtains so laden with dirt and dust I was too scared to draw them for fear of moving the dust into the room and filthy, marked doors. As there was no other accommodation in town we set to and bought cleaning products and disinfectants and wiped all the surfaces clean of dust and grime. We also gave the walls a scrub! We couldn't cope with the state of the pillows and so went to Target to buy 2 new pillows and pillow cases. Staff cleaned the toilet and hand basin and vacced the carpet when asked. Unfortunately for us, we are booked in for 10 nights for a music festival. Don't be fooled by the pristine and sparkling photos on their website. How can a proprietor be so sloppy and misleading? I am absolutely appalled.

This hotel is very tired and in need of attention. Carpet was frayed and dirty. The sheets were clean but when the top sheet fell back and we saw the doona underneath we found that it was blood stained and dirty. The table out on the balcony looked as if it had not been cleaned for some time, and when we arrived there were two dirty glasses on it. They were still there the next day. We had prepaid for the accommodation but were told on arrival that the account had not been paid. We insisted that it had and after ‘finding’ some paperwork they said it was all OK. However when we checked out they claimed again that it had not been paid. Once again we had to insist that it had. Their record keeping seems to be somewhat lacking. This is a budget hotel but that is no excuse for poor housekeeping a and sloppy paperwork. Would not stay here again
