Detailed Reviews
Motel is very well located on terrace facing the Todd River and backs onto Todd Mall giving easy access into the town centre. Motel is somewhat shabby showing its age. Rooms are standard motel type and quite ok for a night or two. Reception area is large and well provided with comfortable lounges while waiting pick-up. Secure undercover parking, but spaces are limited and tight.

Great access to Todd Mall. Easy access to the motel and the secure undercover parking was a bonus, though some parks are tight if vehicles parked either side and behind. There was a mix up over the room configuration (which may have been caused by us at time of booking) but it was sorted very easily. Would stay here again.

We had two rooms overnight for a family trip. The Auroa is very well located and quiet (a little bit of noise in the night caused by rowdy guests but otherwise quiet). The Auroa was looking a bit tired, but the rooms were large and well equipped. The staff were very friendly and helpful and gave us some good recommendations for restaurants in walking distance of the hotel.

We arrived in Alice Springs at about 11 am on the day we were due to check in. Obviously, we were aware that check in time was 2 pm, so we found other things to do for a while, then called the motel to see if there was any chance of our being able to check in early. We were told that was not possible, and that the hotel staff would prefer we arrived at 3 rather than 2 because apparently your cleaning staff were having difficulty getting all the rooms ready.
We arrived at the hotel at 3 and were told by the very polite reception staff that we’d have to wait another 15 minutes. After 30 minutes, we checked to see what was happening and were told it would be “about another 5 minutes”. That actually proved accurate, so at about 3.45 we were finally able to access our room.
We had booked an accessible room for three people. The room was equipped with:
2 towels
2 coffee cups
2 glasses
2 teaspoons
1 cake of soap
The cleaner was still outside the room so we were able to get additional resources fairly easily – but were surprised by the quality of room preparation.
On examining the facilities we found there was a kettle. One kettle! We had been staying in motels all the way from Canberra to Alice Springs, and every room we’d been in had a kettle, toaster and microwave. Not just a kettle - three appliances. By this stage we’d started to realise that your hotel management’s commitment to the convenience of guests is pretty much non existent.
The “accessible” bathroom … the seat in the shower was not firmly attached to the wall and we were concerned that if our son sat on it, it would pull out altogether. He showered sitting on the floor. That wasn’t entirely convenient but I’ve already covered our understanding of your management’s interest in convenience.
The mirror in the bathroom was accessible for people in wheelchairs. Not for people who weren’t in wheelchairs – they have to crouch to see into it – but … convenience …
We were in the hotel for two nights. The room was untouched by your cleaning staff on the second day – but I guess that may have been more convenient for us than having to again seek out additional towels, cups, glasses etc.
You may by now have the impression we were less than impressed with your hotel. You would be right. To put it in context, we were looking forward to returning to the accommodation offered by the Erldunda Roadhouse in spite of there being no accessible bathrooms in that facility. They at least offered on time check in, microwave, toaster and kettle, clean and tidy rooms, and amazingly, sufficient crockery and cutlery for each person.
I will be sharing my thoughts about your hotel on Facebook and will of course actively discourage anyone I hear of who is travelling to Alice Springs from staying in your establishment.
I imagine the couple I saw when I was walking through your lobby at about 4 pm on the second day of our stay in the Aurora, who were being told they would have to wait another hour before checking in, would have much the same feedback. And, given the comments I overheard from people who were discussing their stay while waiting to check out the next day, it seems clear our experience was very much par for the course.

+1
This was like staying in a hotel from the 1980s. The bathroom was disgusting and the room was in desperate need of cleaning and painting. The bathroom didn't even have a fan and you had to close the bathroom door to avoid the steam setting off the smoke alarm. The restaurant was closed so they offered overpriced breakfast packs. However, our room only had 3 tea cups, 3 tea spoons, 3 wine glasses and 2 glass tumblers. No saucers or plates. Unfortunately, the room was booked and prepaid through Discover Australia Tours (a terrible company) so we had no choice but to stay there. The only positive thing was it's location, It backed onto the Mall but it was a bit of a "rabbit warren" getting to the door into the Mall.
The Reception Staff were not all that friendly and helpful either.

This hotel is my go to hotel when I am in Alice and have stayed a few times now. The location right on Todd Mall is perfect and has secure parking although it is a small parking area and you aren't guaranteed a spot. The price is very reasonable compared to others and the rooms have always been clean. The staff are always friendly. Honestly never had a bad stay here.

On Arrival we found this accomodation not 4 star despite being advertised as such. Many drawbacks. Poor layout and confusing. No dining in and breakfast was included. You had to go to a restaurant 100 metres away and this was not open from Sunday to Wednesday and did not open until 7.00. We had tours booked and left very early from a 4 night stay we would have only gotten it 1 day. Booked by Discover and we came off the Ghan and expected a proper 4 star experience. The lift was not in the lobby and required you to cross the lobby and go through a car park to access the lift. The lift was filthy. The room allocated was clean but tired and our tour specified 2 beds and we were only offered a queen size bed which was unsuitable. I would not recommend. it. We travelled on The Ghan and expected Discover Tours to have an appropriate level of hotel commensurate with Ghan travel. We booked in somewhere else.

We really enjoyed our stay at Aurora. The location was perfect, centrally located with easy walking to shops, cafes, and walking tracks along the river wash, but also quiet. The room was spacious and clean and the beds comfortable. We loved having our meals in the beautiful courtyard, great outdoor tables, shade and bbqs surrounded by lush plantlife - very pleasant atmosphere and nice to be able to cook our own meals while traveling. Thanks for a great stay!

We stayed here for 5 nights in September 2020. The staff were very friendly and the room was very clean and comfortable. The food in the Red Ochre Grill was excellent with very good service. The location is very convenient with the back of the resort in the Todd Mall so very close to shopping and other restaurants etc. The carpark has very easy access to the accommodation. This resort is great value and I would definately stay here again.

This was our first trip to the Alice, we were impressed with this four storey wonderful building. It is undergoing a refurbishment. It offered free secure parking. The staff are very friendly, rooms very clean and comfortable. The location is central to 2 shopping malls and at one end of the hotel complex is a wonderful bar / bistro / restaurant which opens onto the main street mall. We stayed there on our way up to Darwin and again, on our return journey we stayed again.

Hi Lea, this question is better directed to the hotel itself rather than a guest, However, as I said in my review, they don't serve breakfast. You have to purchase a breakfast pack the day before or go to a nearby cafe for breakfast. Cheers.
If it is one of those small freezer blocks, then the answer is yes. if it it is bigger than that, I would ask the concierge to put in a bigger freezer for you.
When I was a guest at Aurora I did not take breakfast as the coach trip included it. They give you something immediately when you get on and a while out on the road stop for a full hot breakfast. Sort for delay in response but I am presently on a world cruise with intermittent wifi.
Hope this helps and is not too late.
Yes they have luggage storage rooms and many guests use this whilst going camping for a few days.
Hi Ronda,
Yes breakfast is from 6:30-9:30
Kind Regards,
