Good place to stay for one night. Decent room with Attached bathroom, Mini Bar fridge and satellite cable TV. Pretty much every room is full of guest. Our room was near swimming pool on ground floor .

The rooms are pretty basic, so don't expect luxury. There is a good communal kitchen and lounge area, with a pool table. There is also a nice swimming pool out the back and it is close to the centre of town.

The Desert Rose Inn is in a good location for the centre of Alice Springs. On arrival you are given a map of the town centre, everything is within a 10-15 walk. The check in was easy and the room was good, with simple amenities. There is communal kitchen/lounge area which I did not use, so can't make comments.

We stayed here for 3 nights whilst our car was getting fixed. The owners were great the dog was a little scary but I’m sure it’s a nice dog. Everyone we spoke to was lovely and helpful clean rooms and a good communal kitchen. Walking distance to town and everything you need. Definitely stay here again

We booked this one year in advance. Three stars should give better than this was. Rooms were very old and outdated! Very basic. Noisy AC. Horrible beds especially the mattresses (and if other travellers have noted bed bugs - I can imagine that this is possible - although we didn't discover any). Wouldn't recommend this place for anyone looking for creature comforts.

We stayed there and it was spacious rooms and clean, food average. Well for South Africans. We went diving and went to giftun island that was great. Just to big resort and walking in that heat is not fun. Great value for money, make sure you take the v.i.p package, Great for children, only downside, not great beaches, but lovely snorkeling.

I was surprised many times during my stay. First the Reception is opened only from 8 AM till 7 PM. The service is poor. The bathroom is not clean enough to meet the respective standard. I think this Hotel has only one advantage which is 10 min. walk to and from Train station.

Bed Bugs on the floor and ceiling, they were even climbing into my bags. Appalling room, not clean and rotting floors. Not impressed at all, conditions are bad. Informed owner and he was like 'oh really' Demanded a refund and went elsewhere in town.

Response from ManagerDesertRose, Owner at The Desert Rose Inn
Responded 15 Mar 2017
Thankyou for your information. Because of your care in informing us of your concerns we were able to inspect and treat the room. My, "oh really", was genuine surprise that you had seen two bed bugs in the room. One on the ceiling and one beside the bed as you informed me. We are an older establishment but I can assure you that the staff do take pride in keeping the rooms clean. The flooring has been inspected and is in good condition. The problems with bed bugs is due to the transient public. Accommodation providers cannot search and inspect any guests on arrival. We can only react once detected either by staff or guest advice. Again, thankyou for bringing your concerns to our notice.

Stayed just for the first and last night of the outback tour but can't complain. Good and comfortable bed, nice shower with hot water, shared kitchen if you want to cook or 5 minutes walk of a dominos, McDonald's or the Coles Supermarket. The guy from the reception was really nice, helped us with the laundry and also called for a taxi when we couldn't. It's a very simple hotel/motel, but has everything you need to have a good nigh sleep.

Have stayed here a couple times now and strongly recommend Dessert Rose. Excellent value accommodation and very centrally located. Owners are really nice and friendly and were very helpful. They have a lovely big German Shepherd dog on duty for added friendly security .. Plenty of off street parking and a decent pool. Also a lovely area to sit and socialise (if you wish) out the back with a bbq. Just around the corner from Maccas/Dominos/Red Rooster makes it very convenient. There is also a large communal kitchen available if you wish to prepare your own healthier option. It's not flash.. but its clean, well run and very central and dare I say the best value accommodation town. I will be staying her next time I'm in Alice for sure.
