The Rim walk of Kings Canyon is just magnificent - and was a much anticipated part of our holiday. Go at first light to get up all those stairs so you can stop a while at the top and take in the sunrise. On arrival we weren't really greeted or offered any additional information, for instance. "Tomorrow is forecast to be 36 degrees, so make sure you go really early for the rim walk as the canyon closes at 9 am." We knew this, but it's this sort of info that's useful. The staff weren't unpleasant, they just weren't what you would expect for a $700 per night room on checking in. They did what they had to do, but with no enthusiasm. In a place like Kings Canyon, guests have all travelled a long way to get there - so a bit of a friendly welcome and interest would have put this score up. The deluxe spa room is fine for all you need - mainly because of the spa with the full window outlook which is a nice thing to do. The beds are comfortable. Other than that, it's a good, cool room with a fridge and tea/coffee. Due to Covid, the only dinner options are at the Outback bar. The staff were friendly and it's a nice relaxed ambience. The food is fine. The buffet breakfast was great. It came with the room. Plentiful - something for everyone. The staff were friendly and accommodating there. The checkout process was very slow. Two different staff on reception who weren't really sure of everything. I know it's hard to get and keep staff at the moment and Covid has it's challenges, but a few smiles, friendliness and acknowledgement goes a long way on reception. It took me about 15 minutes to check out and organise a permit for the Meenie pass. (Warning - that road is very corrugated - but it's a great trip).

We stayed 2 nights in one of the deluxe spa rooms. We loved the spa bath in the window with the view into the desert. The rooms are a bit dated but comfortable with high ceiling and good AC . The resort recently had a close call with a bush fire,so we were lucjy to go at all. The fire did some damage to there boadwalk to their sunset viewing area . The pool area is a bit rundown but is still good to cool off . The only dining option was the pub which was ok but COVID obviousy impacting the resort . Checkin staff were lovely . The rim walk was stunning . Overall we still enjoyed our stay

I stayed for two nights when touring “the red centre”. The obvious attraction is its proximity to kings canyon, which is pretty spectacular. That said, I’d certainly recommend staying there one night but not two. The accommodation isn’t flashy, but it’s only 3.5 star, so people cannot expect it to be. However, it’s spacious plus the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast is included in the rate and it’s a very well stocked traditional breakfast buffet. However, two big- related- issues for me. First, if you do the rim walk early, as everyone recommends, you end up at 10am, having not much else to do. You certainly should do the walk early as they shut it at 9 if temperatures are to exceed 35. But once finished, there is nothing really else to do. There are three other walks and they are pretty ordinary. Plus if you do the resort ridge walk, they cause such a fuss over a 30 minute walk around the resort perimeter- you must register, sign a legal indemnity, check in once you finish, all for a half hour walk in about 100m from the resort. Plus, signage is generally good but there are so many arrows and stones painted, it completely takes away any fun. Second, and I anticipate a “Covid” excuse but the only food option in the evenings when I was there was in the on site pub. This is loud and pretty brash, with a 2hour happy hour preceding dinner time. My guess is this is to draw in the guests who have nothing else to do in the afternoon. There was no real option for a quiet bite to eat. There is a degustation option, but it was booked out for both nights I was there before I arrived. There is also another restaurant but it is closed because they say the numbers are not there to support it. So, my advice is go for one night. Get there to see the sunset on the canyon which is beautiful, have a quick bite in the pub, get up early, have brekkie, check out and do the walk.

Had a really nice stay in both the caravan park and the resort. The park has really good sites with easy access and magnificent views all round. The facilities are all new and in great working order and condition. The park and the resort are very close together so that was handy for staff communication and general enquires. The staff were friendly and helpful and there is fuel and a small supermarket on site too. All this within a few kilometres of the canyon and the views are stunning. We also had a night in the resort room which was fantastic too. Very clean, cool and comfortable with our own private balcony. The bird life is phenomenal.

its hard to review a place like this as there is no where else really to stay out there. so because of this you pay more than what you should for the standard of the rooms. we booked their deluxe spa room . they are pretty worn in side and the room had a bad smell coming from the bathroom so we had to sleep with the sliding door open to try and get rid of it abit. there is only one place to eat which is just across the road at the pub. it was pretty good food and service. Its all about the convenience to the canyon only a few minutes drive which is great when your doing the rim walk and you have to go very early. the breakfast was your standard food you see in a buffet breakfast.
