On our trip through Australia we stayed 2 days at Longitude 131.
The location is excellent and the terraces of the tents are all facing Ayers Rock, so that we can enjoy fabulous views. The furniture of the tent is tasteful and quite comfortable, however,...More

Dear Matthias S
We're pleased your Australian itinerary included a visit to its spiritual heart (an absolute must!) and that after staying at Longitude 131 you can generally recommend the lodge and its surrounds.
With regards to touring, the lodge offers five signature excursions exploring...More
What a fabulous place to stay and explore the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. We thoroughly enjoyed our days and nights here. The staff is so talented and knowledgeable. An experience no one should miss when they visit Australia.
Every staff member made it a point to know our names and everyone greeted us by name at every chance.
Every bite of food was gourmet level. We've eaten in fine restaurants in Venice, Rome, Paris, London, New York and San Francisco, paying, sometimes, hundreds...More

It seems a bit of a shame to cancel your trip. However arriving in February is going to be very hot as it's kind of peak summer heat. I guess it does depend how you handle the heat. All of the lodges are air conditioned and the busses that they use are all air conditioned as well. Field of lights , because it's after dark, will be cooler. The temperature tends to drop a lot once the sun goes down.
The flies could well be bad, but hey that's why the locals will be using a large can of aero guard. And I'm sure the staff will be very attentive to try and minimise your discomfort.
I don't know if that helps, if you can reschedule there are better times of the year to visit.
I just wore my ordinary sneakers and had no problems. Just do the walks at your own pace, no one pushes or tries to hurry you, just make sure you always carry enough water. They look after you really well.
Have a great time
