The Novotel Darwin Airport garners praise from numerous guests for its spotless premises, including a well-maintained pool and tidy reception. While the pool area is frequently highlighted for its ambiance and family-friendliness, some visitors have encountered issues with temporary closures or overcrowding. Guests generally find the hotel atmosphere welcoming, although certain areas may feel outdated.
The staff at Novotel earned commendations for their attentive and friendly service. However, opinions on value for money and room quality are mixed, with some travelers finding the rooms to lack freshness and not justifying the price point.

Detailed Reviews
This hotel and its sister site (the Mecure) are undergoing massive road and ground works to upgrade the facilities. So the front entrance to both hotels is a bit hard to find. The parking is cramped.
The first card I was given to access my room did not work so I had to walk all the way back to reception to exchange cards. I was then given another room that is fit for disabled people. The shower is just a curtain divider from the toilet and the vanity is way too low (if not disabled). The aircon has a continuous annoying 'tick' and the fan is likewise noisy.
The room rate is a whopping $499 for one night and this is way overpriced for a 'standard' room.
The carpeted hallway to the rooms is dirty and stained.
The in-house restaurant is not open on weekends so I took the option of room service (cooked and delivered by the Mecure). This came to my room promptly but in poor quality (but compostable) take out boxes. The menu selection is lack lustre.
After a very long drive I expected and needed better in house facilities.
The one redeeming feature is that it is close to airport and has a free shuttle service.

Rooms tiny. Bit overpriced.
Old beds
Really just needs a do over. Oh and the toilet is the thinnest that I think I have ever seen in all my travels you can see through it.
The one good point for an airport hotel the room I had on lower floor very good sound deadening. Came in late morning thought oh no but didn't hear a single plane while in room. Was lower floor so trees may have helped.

The reception staff were friendly and very helpful, as were the house keeping ladies. There is a restaurant on the premises, but they do not give the Accor Live discount. However the gentleman on reception directed across the road to the Mercure Airport Hotel where they honoured our complimentary welcome drinks vouchers and offered the Accor Live discount on all meals. The hotel is a few minutes drive to the airport, which we could see from our room. The room would enjoy a little refurbishing, but it was comfortable and its situation suited us. Our plane was delayed by three hours and the lovely lady on reception was able to allow us a late checkout of 1pm which was much appreciated.

This is a great place to stay! The service from checking in to checking out and during your stay is fabulous. The rooms are super clean and comfortable. The gym is well equipped and the pool and area is lovely! They also share facilities with the Mercure across the road which is great for breakfast and coffee on the go. The location is super easy to the airport if your in a hurry or have a crazy late flight/arrival staying here will make you more then comfortable. The location is great too if you have a car.
Very close too Mindil beach for the markets, there is a Bottle shop and supermarket complex 2 mins down the road. So we started a road trip from here.

Worst experience. They charged near $170 per night for one person/single room with not a single bottle of water. I asked the reception, they said that I can either buy a bottle from them or use the tap water. I pointed out that there is not even a empty glass provided to drink the tap water which is located inside the bathroom/toilet! They just smiled at me....will never stay again

Disgustingly overpriced. We paid $600 a night for a very basic room that I would give a 2 star rating, at best. Stained carpets, chipped paint on walls and damaged furniture. The gym is so small, it does not support social distancing.
No prior information pertaining to the construction going on around the entire perimeter of the building. Or that the restaurant is not open on weekends or public holidays. We attempted to utilise the Mercure across the construction site for breakfast, but were told of an hour and a half wait, so a quick Maccas run took place before heading out on a tour. Room service comes with an additional cost. Surely you could have taken that out of the nightly fee.
The 'block out' curtains struggle to block the blinding white light being utilised throughout the entire night to light up the construction area. The balcony, although a nice thought, is filthy due to the construction occurring.
The only highlight was the staff, they are lovely.
Highly disappointed!! Won't be recommending and won't be staying on our return next year.

+1
The staff at the front desk was very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are quite dated and could really use a good cleaning. The first room overlooked the pool and the neighbors were very noisy. It was a non-smoking room but the hallway smelled very strong of old smoke. When we requested to move, the front desk staff kindly moved us to another floor. This room was dated as well and in need of a deep clean but was quieter and the hallway didn’t smell as bad. The air conditioner didn’t work but on a positive note it’s close enough to return our rental car and walk back to the hotel.

Good morning Mi, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback from this visit to our hotel. I'm sorry to hear that you've experienced some issues throughout your stay. The Novotel is currently closed due to the pandemic and, as such, we are only managing the Mercure across the road for now. Having that said there's plans in place to tackle the majority of issues you've pointed out whilst the hotel is closed eg. cleaningless, bad smell, maintenance etc. We trust that you will be delighted on your next visit, that being at the Novotel when it reopens or the Mercure anytime you may return to Darwin. Kindest regards, Adriano Miyada Front Office Manager

Conveniently located in close proximity to the airport, this hotel is neat and clean. The receptionist was available and helpful. There's a coin operated laundry room with driers. There's a clean outdoor saline pool. The standard room has a good view but no balcony. However, there's free WiFi, a large TV, iron with a board included.

The hotel is fine, however I booked through Novatel, trusting there lowest price guarantee which I submitted with screen shot of lower price with the date and time. Then the said the they never got the screenshot, and so had to submit it again, then refused to honour the lowest price guarantee, which I now realise is a scam. So will never book with Accor ever again!

Absolutely disgusting, from the moment I stepped out of the lift the whole place stank. The first room I could not stay in due to the smell, the next was not much better. Both pools were out of order, told we could walk across to the other hotel to swim. The restaurant was closed, the poolside food was an over priced under stocked display cabinet if pre-made options.
When our flights out were canceled , I was told the price for an extra night was more and would be back in the stinky rooms or the cost was even more
I came here due to the name and thought it would be nice as I am travelling with a new employee on his first work trip - absolutely disgusting.
Do not stay here, the rooms are not what are pictured at all

I very short walk or use the shuttle bus.
Hi, I'm not sure about short stays, you have to contact the hotel directly to answer you question.
Hi Amy, great to hear you are coming to visit us and as you recommended by fellow travellers the shuttle bus phone is located on a pillar opposite carousel 1 at the baggage collection area. This will call through to reception and may take anywhere from 1m to 10m for my team to pick you up. The property is only a few hundred metres away however in the early hours of the morning please just wait at the airport and we will pick you up. Looking forward to seeing you and don't hesitate to ask us for any further assistance. Cheers Jamie
There is not a bus that runs directly to the CBD, you will need to catch a bus at Charles Eaton Drive bus stop (approximately a 3 minute walk from the hotel) that goes to Casuarina, look for bus number 3. It departs this stop at 6.59am / 7.34am / 8.11am / 12.39pm / 4.04pm / 4.44pm / 5.29pm; Once you are at Casuarina a number of busses head into town. Your only other option is to catch a cab
The hotel runs one shuttle at 5pm every Thursday and Sunday to Mindil beach markets during the dry season. As this is a popular service you would be required to pre book and please note we only offer a drop off service to the markets
Kind regards,
Matthew Kent
Operations Manager
