The rooms are tiny, facilities spotless, and there's a big well-equipped communal kitchen. Surprisingly it works, perhaps because of the very efficient management. It provided us a good base for a few days in Brisbane. It's in easy walking distance of the lively South Bank area, and there are reasonable transport links and shops round about. A good basic choice...

Probably the noisiest place I've stayed outside Central America. Don't expect to sleep much unless you have earplugs or are heavily sedated. Ultra basic facilities, zero service staff, uncomfortable and a little grubby, it's saved by the charm of the big old Queenslander building.

I've upgraded this review to a very good, simply because the hostel is in such a great location. If you want to stay somewhere close to the city and West End then this is perfect. You can find good deals too - I stayed for a week and it was very reasonable. It's within walking distance to the city, cafes,...

Free wifi? No. Fire in the common room? I wish! Perhaps under the previous management. Our room (3) had windows onto busy Gladstone which has traffic noise not everyone is accustomed to. Great kitchen that I did not see used much, as there are a few restaurants a block away. Decor is bright and crisp. Staff not always on site...

Nice, quiet and safe neighbourhood. Guests are decent and try to avoid noise but as mentioned by all the other reviewers, the noise insulation isn't very good. Toilets were clean and nice. There's also a coin operated washing machine. The room though, is tiny, but that didn't affect me too much. In any case it's great value for money. Also...

I only stayed here one night, but I wanted a single room instead of a dorm so I didn't wake people when I departed early morning, and for a low price it was handy. The room was simple but was all I needed, and the bed was comfortable. It's a short walk from South Bank train station, a few hills...

It may be budget but if you like clean place close to South Bank this is the one. Friendly, helpful staff so I found for two days it was very relaxing. Lovely balcony to enjoy an evening drink and morning breakfast. There is no air conditioning but a fan in the room. If staying a while there is acoin operated...

The Minto hostel is located in a very nice looking colonial building. On arrival I had to call the receptionist by phone, therefore it is advised to have an Australian Sim card or enough money on your foreign phone. The nice thing about the rooms are the very high ceilings, and a great Thai restaurant in the neighbourhood, but what...

I chose the Minto because of its appearance, the good reviews, and it's close location to South Bank. + It is a beautiful building, nice people staying there, great view from the terrace on CBD, bus stop to CBD close by, kitchen is clean. - It is after all a Queenslander and thus you can hear everything from the neighbouring...
