The general cleanliness of the place was average however the kitchen cupboards had a really bad smell which was enough to make my friend gag. Saying that the stoves themselves were good. The kitchen was always quiet which made a nice change and the balcony was a nice place to sit and eat. The disabled bathroom was awful, the flush...

Base Brisbane Embassy was one of the worst hostels I've stayed at. The 'deluxe 4 bed female dorm' was tiny, and there was a thick layer of grime around the edge of the carpet which clearly had never been hoovered. The hostel is old, and clearly in need of a bit of TLC. When checking in I found the man...

Yet another Base hostel that is a huge disappointment. I would not recommend to anyone to stay at this hostel as it is disgusting. Our room smelled, the floor we were on smelled, the hallways smelled... this place needs aired out. The staff appear to have a problem with guests smoking in bathrooms and not washing their dishes as there...

Stayed in a 6bed dorm and does what it says on the tin. Bunk beds are metal and super squeaky which is a bit annoying. Bathrooms very clean, pots in kitchen a bit grubby. This is a large hostel and no good communal spaces and seems like a lot of longer termers. Great central location though and staff fairly friendly.

Base Embassy has pretty big 8 dorms. Bathrooms are okay and cleaned daily. The kotchen is very big, but might not offer a seperate table for everyone during peak time. Staff was very helpful. Met very cool people there. It is basically at the city centre, so it's ideal for tourists of all kind.

The hostel is right in the heart of the city centre which is great for getting around. Biggest downside was the facilities, the kitchen was always dirty, even when the staff worked hard to clean the kitchen it was always dirty 10 mins later. The dorm rooms were dark but relatively clean. Generally everything felt like it had a layer...

I heard that Base and Nomads Hostels were in the same family. IF this is the case, I suggest picking Base over Nomads any day. I stayed in a number of Nomads while in Australia because it was part of my "tour up the East Coast" package I did with a tour company and this Base Embassy in Brisbane was...

We stayed 3 nights in this hostel. We had a double room with private bathroom. The room was very grey and basic although this could be expected considering it being a hostel. However the room was very filthy! The towels had all sorts of stains on them, the bathroom and the bedroom were full of mould and other filth (you...
