In short: If you have the time, definitely do the live aboard experience as opposed to day trips that would generally seem to be at least $150 anyway. If flights hadn't already been booked to go home, I'd still be there! I didn't know what to expect from this trip but I would gladly hop on this boat and do...

There are several components of this trip and boat that are not explicitly advertised online when booking. I have listed several below: 1. The company policy is to overbook and leave only some people (hand picked) to check out at 8am leaving nowhere to shower except a shared (and uncomfortable) room on the last day. This specifically means you are...

My husband and just went on the one day excursion with Reef Encounters out to Norman Reef. It was the most incredible day. We were expecting a long trip out to the reef but it was just under a couple of hours but felt like half an hour - the staff kept us distracted through the whole journey with information...

We booked the 3 day/2 night snorkelling tour on reef encounter and it was fantastic. We got to see 3 different parts of the reef (Saxon, Norman and Hastings). It was easy to upgrade to diving if you wanted to. The crew was very nice and helpful, the instructors knew what they were doing. The food was also good and...

This is the second time I have done an overnight on the reef with Reef Encounter and again I had a fantastic time. It is rewarding that as a returning customer you also get a discount. The diving was great and well organised, I paid $60 extra for a guide (very reasonable as it covered all 6 dives) so I...

We spent 3 days / 2 nights aboard the Reef Encounter and it was excellent. The staff [diver guides/masters, cooks, managers, technicians] were attentive, professional, funny, relaxed, and knowledgeable, the food was delicious, the diving amazing and the accommodation spacious and comfortable. From arrival to departure it was very well organized and thoroughly enjoyable. I would do it again, and...

We stayed for 7 nights back in December and loved it so much that we booked a 3 night stay in July. Once again a fabulous trip. We went Top Deck both times and loved the excellent care and coddling that our 'dive butlers' gave us both times. From the wake up call with a cup of tea, to the...

My time on Reef Encounter exceeded all of my expectations and my only grief is that I should have booked even more time. I got picked up my hotel on a saturday morning and left the boat on a sunday afternoon at 230pm. That was enough time for 3 dives and 3 snorkels, but I wished I had stayed longer....

I've been out on Reef Encounter on a live aboard about 18 months ago, so when visiting Cairns again, I didn't even bother to shop around this time. Reef Encounter are excellent! I did the Top Deck (again) and as it was the first time, it was brilliant. From the one on one dive buddy, to the comfortable room, and...

We just came back from three days aboard the Reef Experience, stopping at Norman, Saxon and Hastings reefs off Cairns. Fabulous experience. The crew all seemed happy to be working on board, and were comfortable with each other. The organization was really smooth. Food was extremely delicious: salmon one night, rack of lamb another, and wraps with fresh fruit for...
