Location is not very convenient especially when restaurant was closed last night and bar food with very limited menu was on offer. Very average, tired rooms and poor service. Hubby put dry cleaning in to be done and it was forgotten!! Washing had to be done in the bathroom sink. So much for being an elite IHG member.
This hotel is lovely, 4 to 5 star, the pool is huge and has gorgeous views opposite the esplanade of the sea and mountains. Kids were in the pool all day. The staff are lovely in the bar/cafe. We had a top floor 1 bedroom apartment for two adults and two children, with a double sofa bed and roll away in the lounge room, plenty of pace for all of us. View amazing of the mountains, not a sea view, facing the other way, but just as good! Reception staff very attentive and knowledgeable. We were able to check in early and the room was made ready in time for us at 11am! We also enjoyed a late checkout for no extra cost. We stayed two nights, but would have loved to stay longer. Great location, close to the skate park, you can walk to restaurants on the esplanade, it's a bit of a walk to the centre mall and station, I suggest an uber. We are already planning our next trip back next year and plan to stay here again.…
We had a great 2 weeks holiday in Cairns and staying at your hotel. The service by all the staff was excellent, right from the reception, breakfast service and servicing the rooms. We truly enjoyed our stay at Holiday Inn Harbourside, Cairns and will definitely recommend your hotel and will come back again. A special thank you to all the staff there who are so dedicated to their work. They were always obliging to assist.
We are a couple, that is , 2 of us. Only a single casual lounge chair and single upright desk chair available for non bed sitting ! Why, when 2 persons book into a room ? 1 only suitcase “ rack “. No toilet brush. 24 hours to replace faulty toilet seat. Old and tired bathroom, bath/shower combo ! Step over bath side for shower ! Living area vertical strip light hanging off wall fixing at 45 degree. 6 coat hangers for 2 persons. Yep, sounds petty. But, hang on, $2700 for the week and it is 2022. 3 star cost, 1 star facility. Buy local, buy Australian….why ? Years behind and over rated, how long between refurbishments !
We stayed 5 nights here and really enjoyed it. Our room was clean, your usual hotel room setup but all very comfortable. We paid for a sea view room - totally worth it as the view was great. Really impressed with the included breakfast. We didn't need lunch at all after it. Staff were all very friendly and efficient. It's a lovely walk along the foreshore promenade to the town centre, lagoon pool and marina, but if walking's not your thing there is a courtesy bus several times a day. The only thing to keep in mind is that the hotel is quite close to the airport so with your balcony doors open through the day, the airplanes can be a bit noisy - great view of them though!
Checked in for a one night stay to take the kids out for a weekend. Upon arrival we had to wait, with others for our room. I understand rooms are booked full and staff are busy but it seemed like every time I went through reception people were waiting for their room. I did observe the "head man" giving the cleaners a talk before they exited the elevator. Finally our room was ready, and we went to get our key cards. The girl asked me for my card again, which I had already given to the original receptionist, who had asked for payment straight away, gave us our keys and no more information. I had to ask which direction I go to get to our room. There was no information given about how we go about our free breakfast, I'm still unsure how I do that, no map or direction to anything. Which i didn't care too much about until later when a nice couple from the states were checked in and the same receptionist gave them a full run down of the place. In our room there was the thank you for not needing your linen changed today flyer, were our sheets changed from the last guest? We'd had a big day so we decided to order room service for dinner. No menu in the room, no information book in the room, so I went down to reception and got a menu. Food was ok and not too overpriced but a bit pinged I couldn't just get a serve of chips for the kids when almost all dishes were served with chips . Other niggley things, no power points next to the bed, the fridge is rusting, the pump bottles for soap didn't work and no jug or container for water, things listed on website that weren't there. The staff were not rude but no overly welcoming. I've stayed here previously years ago and have attended a few conventions for work but regularly come to cairns for weekends away but not sure I'll be back here. Which is disappointing.…
Mixed feelings about the hotel. Check in and service was very quick and friendly but room was quite old and some housekeeping issues. The bath towel had a huge stain and the pillows also had some very suspicious stains on them. Location was decent, about 2km from center of town and an Uber to the casino was around 11 dollars.
We were staying at Holiday Inn due to husband work commitments. Upon arrival we were welcomed with smiles and friendly greetings. Clear directions were given to our room and how things work. Given the room service menu as well as the restaurant menu. To our surprise our room had been upgraded. The bed was so comfortable!. We did not have ocean view but that was ok. There was always smiles and hellos when you seen a staff member. And breakfast is a buffet and the staff are so helpful. Yes may not be modern as others but friendly and comfortable. Would happily stay again. Nice stroll along the Esplanade into city centre.
Really great spot - a nice easy walk along esplanade to the lagoon and night life! Also, just far enough for free parking which is a huge bonus if hiring a car! Comfy beds, lovely view, great pool - beautiful brekky.. Our fridge was playing up a bit but the team swapped & hooked us up with a drink voucher which was lovely Will definitely reco to family & friends & would stay here again for sure!
We (wife, 10 year old son and myself) were really happy with our stay. The staff are really friendly, happy and accomodating, in particular Gabi in the restaurant. The room was comfortable and clean. The breakfast is outstanding (if you book get the breakfast included). The walk along the promenade into town is beautiful. Would happily stay here again.
