Had one night at the Shangri-La and whole experience was a seamless dream. Check-in was smooth as, our room including bathroom was spacious, airy and beautifully appointed with lovely view overlooking the waterfront. Got up early for sunrise and so pleased I bothered. it was breathtaking! Didn't swim in the pool but did use the gym, which was well maintained. Superb smorgasbord breakfast.
From the moment we checked in we have received very friendly happy service. Beautiful spacious room with a view of the whole marina. All the fantastic restaurants are along the boardwalk downstairs. Don’t look anywhere else, this is the place to stay. August 2022 Great place to stay.
Nice room with a good view and location however …. Check in was a disaster and took forever! Our room was at least a 5 minute walk from reception, with numerous lifts and only one way to enter and exit the hotel! We actually had to prepare ourself for the walk back to the room! Our bed was two single beds pushed together, one being soft and the other having a huge lump in the middle, that constantly moved when either myself or my partner moved! The hotel itself was a little run down and we’ve have had nicer and more accommodating stays in places that cost half as much! Would not recommend!
We attended a birthday party here with family. The staff were lovely and the venue was beautifully lit up. My only complaint was the gravel flooring. My ankle went one way and I went the other many times and I was wearing flats. The food was lovely, my favourite was the fish tacos. The girl in the drinks van was lovely, friendly and helpful. It’s a lovely venue right on the marina.
Can’t beat the location for access to great restaurants, casino, board walk, ferry terminal. Pool is a hit with the kids. Got 2 suite overlooking the harbour for 5 nights , interior is a bit dated for one of them. Service is prompt and courteous, no complaints at all. Would stay again if good promotion going on in the future. Horizon club room is well stocked all sorts of alcoholic beverages and snacks.
Our first night on a recent trip to FNQ was spent in a Marina View room in this lovely hotel. Spotlessly clean, great layout and view, it was lovely and quiet after a day of travelling. Excellent service from the staff we encountered and the only thing I would recommend that if you intend to eat at the hotel restaurant, you book in advance as no allowance is made for hotel guests and being on the Marina, it is very popular .
Comfortable beds, large, spacious rooms, good views and a great swimming pool in a fantastic location by the marina - plenty of restaurants and shops around. Only a couple of downsides - thin doors so you can hear people talking and moving outside in the corridor and the fridge was actually a freezer! It froze my bottles of water and lemonade solid! Would have been nice to have a bath along with the walk in shower, it could definitely fit one but a part from that a lovely hotel - just don’t pay for the pricey food, go out into the city where there are plenty of places to eat and drink.
Came here for a conference and decided to choose this hotel due to reviews and also location. The hotel is right at the heart of action in Cairns. All very walkable to restaurants, shops and Convention Center. Hotel has great amenities and the service is very professional. Definitely recommend.
Despite noise from other guests (not the hotels fault) the slamming doors were a pain. My door could not be closed quietly.. They need some sort of door closers. The room was really good. The service was great.
I booked a horizon club suite at $650 a night as a birthday treat. It was awful. Room is not well designed or cleaned. no bottled water. Pool furniture in disrepair. The only nice things I can point out are the Dyson hairdryer and nice marina view. Otherwise poor value for money.
