Our family spent a week here over the new year period. We LOVED it very much! The resort is spread out with multiple pools and a couple different options for eating and drinks. It's a tropical oasis, with lovely gardens throughout and the staff were also very friendly. It was a very disappointing start though - after clearly booking a superior room (which includes a courtyard or private balcony and renovated) we were placed into a dodgy motel looking room in the car park! I'm sorry to say - but the room was awful, stains all over the carpet, old daggy artwork and no outdoor courtyard or balcony. I would absolutely not ever stay in a room like that, especially for a week. There was no trouble at all being moved to a room (one that we clearly should have been in to start with) so we were so relieved to have the type of accommodation we paid for. Even though, the staff happily put us in the right room - unfortunately it did still leave us feeling unhappy that they would get this wrong and wondered if they do it to most guests and just wait to see if they complain. I'm not sure how they can accidentally put a family in a disgusting old feral room when clearly the booking states 'Superior Room'. Anyway, we were now in a gorgeous room on the ground floor which was about 10 steps from the pool which had the swim up bar. Our meals at the restaurant here we great as well. We found the food and value to be quite good. We would love to stay here again.

Hotel's Favourite
Stayed here for 4 nights visiting friends..was upgraded on arrival from a standard room to a studio room. The room was clean and modern. The grounds at this resort are stunning with 3 pools spread out through the resort.i visited at a very quiet time so found my stay incredibly peaceful having a pool to myself most days.Located out of the way of the city centre but not too far to easily get there. The staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble ..I would definitely stay here again.

Staying here was like staying at an upmarket motel. The rooms were pretty basic and dated. The beds were comfortable and the aircon was nice and cold but there was not much in the way of amenities in the room including no hair-dryer, microwave or much in the way of cutlery. There was also not much information in the room about the hotel except the map you got on arrival and nothing about the wifi or how to access it. The grounds were the main great thing about the hotel. It has three pools ( I only saw two) one with a swim up bar however it was closed while we were here. The Cafe also serves decent food for those wanting to stay at the hotel. There is a happy hour from 4pm to 5pm and there are decent cocktails on the menu. The staff were also a great asset to the hotel. Everyone was very friendly and willing to help and make our stay more comfortable. Overall I enjoyed staying here however it was not what I thought it would be when booking. Great for families and budget travellers however if you can afford n it stay on the esplanade closer to the action.

We would all agree that it's been quite a year 2020. But, Ian Turnbull and staff made a dreary year into a delightful Christmas Day and Stay. From the customer service at booking stage through to checking out, we just couldn't fault it. Christmas Day was enjoyed by listening to a fantastic duo, where even their young son joined in to sing. The food was served up with Christmas love and the drinks brought Christmas cheer. The room was spacious, clean and cleaned on Christmas Day, what service !!! The view from our balcony onto the pool was great and we enjoyed the Christmas Day ambience poolside. I ll send everyone to this resort and I will return again, there is no other better resort in Cairns that offers complete value for money. We felt special and we loved it. Well Done, Ian and the Christmas Cairns Colonial ClubTeam. xx

This is my second visit here and would definitely go back considering the price. The Managers can’t do enough for you also. The shuttle wasn’t running and the restaurant was closed which was disappointing that we were not alerted too but we still had a great stay. Most Rooms have been Refurbished and the cafe had great food
