The rooms are definitely dated but we had a balcony with a beautiful view of the Esplanade and the water! Room was clean and the hotel breakfast buffet is generous with a wide variety of hot offerings, fruit, cereal, juices and breads. The pool and hot tub are clean and easily accessible.

We were in a single room which I think we will not do again! The hotel itself was quite good. The location was brilliant!!!! People would hang out the windows above us, no balcony for them, and smoke which was not pleasant. Room cleanliness was a little questionable, and we thought that the hotel could do with a full refurbishment.

We had a quick weekend break here, and the room was clean and comfortable. IT was a little noisy due to our room being near the elevator. But apart from that very large room, and spectacular views of the Sea.

We were the last guests at this place before it closed for major redevelopment. The staff were already packing up around us during our weekend stay. The place clearly needs an update. We look forward to seeing what difference $100million makes. Note to Rydges - you need to update your automated email up-sell system. The day before check in we...

The rooms we have stayed in (been here a couple of times) are bigger than average which is very good if for sharing with two kids. This hotel is not the most modern in terms of furnishings and probably needs a cosmetic makeover. Apparently this is planned to happen but I hope they don't make the rooms smaller as the...

This is the second time I have stayed at Rydges Tradewinds in Cairns. I stayed for a weekend in mid 2015. That stay was fairly average. Main concerns were the room was a bit dated. Other problem was very inconsistent internet. I was there for business and needed access to internet and it was exceptionally poor. I expressed my concerns...

I recently had to stay up n Cairns for four weeks. This hotel was ideally located on the Esplanade for proximity to Cairns Base Hospital. I stayed on the Exec floor and the room was adequate but very tired. Needs a total refurb. However due the efforts of one particular staff member, Reannah, my stay was much improved. She helped...

The Rydges Tradewinds used to be an iconic Cairns landmark. It is in a fabulous location but is very very tired and needs a good makeover. During our stay they have announced a $100 million makeover ............... and it needs it. I have stayed at a lot of rydges properties throughout Australia but this was a bit disappointing. The buffet...
