Looks like a struggling hotel to us. First impression was the filthy windows overlooking the reception area. Wanted to charge us $50 if we wanted our room early. If you want to barbecue after dark, don't forget your night vision goggles, no lighting. They threaten you with a hefty fine if you use a toaster in your room in case you cause the fire brigade to be called. Don't leave anything in your room when checked out. They rely on honest room staff to put your stuff in lost property. Was told that our room was recently re-furbished, wrong. On a good note, a girl in reception helped me out with WI-FI connection when the internet was down for four days.

overnight stay close to city. state din an "happy" little room. particularly loved the floor tiles! so much better than carpet. large windows let in plenty of light which also enhances the delight of the room.

This hotel received several good reviews and so I booked it. Big mistake! The unit had a range hood but no range The power points were placed where a contortionist skills were required to access Although there was sufficient space for a full sized fridge, there was only a bar fridge with a broken rack in the bottom. Lost a full bottle of wine when it dropped out and hit the floor The bathroom was tired and the paint was peeling There was signs of water damage along the skirting boards The one PowerPoint that could be seen and accessed had no face plate and appeared burnt out, it didn’t work The reception staff were very helpful and gave us an extension cord for my husband’s CPAP machine but that was unsafe as it trailed across the room Finally we were shown where the power points were located. The most ridiculous design I have ever seen over several years of travel. Under the fixed side tables and unable to be accessed!!! Both remotes were held together with gaffer tape. All in all not my best experience but the reception staff deserve a star for their helpfulness. Would not recommend this hotel.

Hotel is clean, centrally located and has a nice outdoor area. However had some issues with some if the furnishings/ amenities in the room. Room was clean but was looking slightly worn and tired. Would recommend for location but rooms do require a little TLC.

For $200 a night it's not great value. I actually drove past it at first thinking there must be another Sunshine Tower Hotel as it did not look like a $200 a night hotel. Reception and lobby didn't make me feel any better, but thankfully the room (mountain view) was a nice size, clean and relatively modern. Only negatives were a couch which was heavily stained and what should have been a great "rainforest" showerhead but it obviously hasn't been internally cleaned so water does wasn't "rainforest" like. My takeaway is that Australia is a relatively expensive place to holiday in.

Booked a deluxe room with balcony, got a second floor room facing the street. Didn’t really hear the road noise. Check in was quick, easy and pleasant. The room was spacious with wardrobe room to hang up our clothes and ‘unpack’ for the few days. Great location in that it’s easy to access from the airport and a short walk into town, only a few blocks. Short walk to the shopping centre too. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The pool area was great, we enjoyed the spa and we used the in house laundry facilities. I enjoyed the mug for my cuppa tea each morning, most places only provide a small cup. Under cover, secure, free parking is included in the price. Great value hotel. If you’re looking for a 5 star hotel go elsewhere, otherwise this is a fabulous place to stay for those more budget wary!

Really disappointing. We'd booked a stay for several nights but checked out after one night. Room door had a simple house lock with a push-click lock with didn't feel very secure and easy to leave unlocked and unsecure. No lock on the bathroom door. No tissues provided in the room - we did ask but were told that the hotel didn't supply tissues. No toaster provided - were told the hotel stopped providing toasters due to cost of smoke-alarm call-outs. The couch was awful - low, worn and parts where the internal upholstery had fallen away. Bad bedroom design in one side of the double bed was too close to the wall. The rollaway (trundle) bed ordered for our child looked more like a massage table and no pillow provided. Not enough towels provided for the room. Shopping trolleys outside the room while rooms being serviced, as well as shopping trolleys down in the carpark used by the hotel. In the foyer the windows had many handprints over them and looked like they hadn't been cleaned. We found it not great, but I'm sure it would be an ok hotel for group travel perhaps - definitely not families. The staff were nice enough to provide a refund on the nights not used so we could check out, which was appreciated.

We love a good 'cheap and cheerful' hotel as a base for a Queensland holiday, and make allowances as expected for a hotel of this star rating and price. But there were some things that were just hard to get past. A summary of our stay: ROOMS: The rooms were recently updated and seemed of quite good quality and were overall good. There were a few silly things such as not being able to fit a bedside table on each side of the bed, so one table was on the other side of the room randomly. There were some obvious planning issues with the room size. Also a few oversights such as no full length mirror and no where to hang wet clothes and bathers (we are in QLD in a hotel with a pool after all!). LOCATION: The location is good, close to the main shopping centre and the esplanade, so easy walks to most places. It was on the main road so there were constant emergency vehicles at all times of day and night, which was very disruptive and you need to be aware of. CLEANLINESS: Major let down. We arrived and the room had not been cleaned properly, to the point that there were half used toiletries in our bathroom. We gave the benefit of the doubt and just asked for new toiletries, the usual amount of pillows in the room etc which was provided the next day after our arrival. I also asked for a blanket (it is winter after all). I know that blankets are not washed in between customers, but this was just gross. It smelled really bad and was covered in very long black hairs. We confirmed that we would have cleaning on the 4th day of our stay, as was part of the package. We had two rooms. One just did not get cleaned at all, ever. The other was 'cleaned', which meant that the bed runner was screwed up in a ball on the floor, a pillow had no cover and was left in the middle of the bed, the blanket was a screwed up mess, the bin had the lid left on the floor next to rubbish and things like toilet paper and toiletries were not replaced at all. We had a 9pm run to the supermarket for toilet paper. SERVICE: Varied a lot. Some of the front desk attendants were friendly, others not so much. We saw one sit and watch for several minutes a new customer who was arriving struggle to get in the front door and not help or do anything, other customers assisted them and showed them how to operate the door. TIPS and OTHER: The room key is an old school key with a massive key ring, so very inconvenient for tourists who are going on tours etc, so be aware of this. You also can only have one key per room, so very inconvenient. There is a restaurant on level 1, however the strong smells of the Asian foods permeates everywhere on this floor, we pity anyone who had a room on level 1 as it would be unpleasant. You will only receive two towels per room (and there are no pool towels), so best to bring your own if you want a reasonable amount / to wash your hair etc. Also no amenities such as shower caps etc are provided.

The listing said 1 bedroom apartment but it is actually a studio! The room was modern looking and was aesthetically pleasing. Unfortunately it lacked function, there was no sink in the kitchenette. There wasn't enough lighting in the room. Only aircon and no ceiling fan. The door to the balcony was very hard to open. The ceiling exhaust in the bathroom wasn't quite capable of keeping the odour out. The hotel has undercover parking but be careful driving out as the driveway is small. Larger vehicles (we had a kia carnival) had to be driven out through the drive-in bay (some one must have decided that it is a good idea to have a pillar on the driveway!!!) We didnt spend much time in the room, took shower in the mornings and left, then got back in the nights and crashed. Given all this, I'd say not worth the money spent

Stayed 4 nights over new year in this hotel. Overall happy with the stay. Room is newly renovated, clean and comfortable. Bed is comfortable. Bathroom is clean and refreshed. Location is not bad. Walking distance to the esplanade and shops. We had a rental car and they provided secured free parking. Happy with the location. Surrounding is quiet, no bars or clubs. We were give a room with closed door with adjacent room. Insulation is not good. We were kept awake and woken up early by neighbour noise. Advertised kitchenette only has a kettle and a microwave. I was expecting a sink and stove stop. Hall way could have some renovations too. Overall happy with the stay. Easy check in and check out.
