The entry, foyer, reception and restaurant area seems impressive and 5 star. That’s where is start and finishes. Entering the elevator; I was a bit concerned as the walls were dated and in desperate need of repair. Leaving the elevator to the hallway of level 7, it smelled awful, timber architraves and window cills rotten, damage carpets and floors. The room stank worse. Same timber rot throughout, dated old ripped furniture, dark dated stains all over the carpets, bed mattress should have been replace three decades ago, torn ripped and damage sheets. Small shards of glass on the bed. There’s nothing 5 Star about everything above street level. The bathroom and kitchenette areas weren’t any better. Management said they didn’t have any other rooms, however I’ve seen better room online and in reviews. This was booked by Luxury Escapes, there was nothing luxury about this, the only thing accurate, is the “escape” part !!! Management organised another hotel, although I had to pay for my own taxi, a bit rich for the false advertising and inconvenience. Needless to say, never again!

Good quality not overpriced hotel. A little dated in places. Could improve the speed of the breakfast service, more staff are needed. The pool could do with a quiet area so you can read without the music. Great to find a hotel in Cairns with a sauna - they could do with a bit of a clean though. All in all a lovely stay.

Room out dated, very musty smelling room. Bed very uncomfortable. Location great, very central to everything. view was not bad, even facing the ‘city’. Service was good though room cards stopped working mid stay... painful.

Hi Lea, Thanks for taking the time to review our hotel, I am disappointed that your stay was not a good experience. Please accept my apologies that you found the room to be uncomfortable, we are working to have a refurbishment done in the near future, this will include an update of the beds in the rooms as well. On a positive note I am pleased that our team provided exceptional service, although I am sorry the room keys stopped working, this can happen from time to time if the keys have been deactivated. We appreciate you sharing your concerns, it is our hope that we can welcome you back again in the future, and we wish you all the best for the year ahead. Kind Regards, Leissa Prouchandy Guest Experience and Loyalty Manager

My 2 night stay was comfortable, I had a lovely view over the casino/water, but the hotel is definitely outdated and showing huge signs of wear and tear and mould, which is off putting. The aircon in the room drips badly and there are mould stains all over the roof. The bathroom is quite nice but floods pretty easily when you shower with just the curtain. I tried to have a bath on the first night with a bath bomb I bought and the water was Luke warm so the bomb couldn’t even melt. Waste of time and water. The pool is quite nice, with a cute garden too. The bed was ok and the pillows were ok. I would recommend for a short stay but not more than 2 nights. Location quite good.

Hi Jemimah, Thanks for taking the opportunity to review our hotel, we appreciate your feedback. I am sorry that your stay was disappointing, and I will follow up your comments regarding the mould in the room and also the water temperature as well as shower curtain issues, these are usually sufficient to stop watering coming out of the shower as long as they are inside the bath tub. on a positive note I am pleased you enjoyed the pool area and the room was comfortable. We hope to welcome you back again soon! Kind Regards, Leissa Prouchandy

The arrival is very grandiose with high ceilings and great decor and you expect something special behind the curtain, but unfortunately that’s where it ends! I stayed in a premier king room over looking the Harbour and whilst the view was fantastic, I could not help reflect on the $200 I paid for the night and what value I actually received other than the view? No mini bar, no style, cheap old furniture and a firm mattress that did not in anyway reflect the nightly rate let alone the title of a premier room, that should have substantial opulence that welcomes you with an air of money well spent when you first open that door! First impressions are great but it’s how you finish the race and this place needs some serious work from the inside out!

Hi macka28 Thanks for your review, I am sorry that your stay was a disappointment. We appreciate that there are aspects of this hotel that are needing some work, and rest assured this being addressed. In saying this what we lack in physical features we aim to make up for in our service, and food and beverage offering. Despite you not mentioning these aspects of your stay I do hope that they met expectation. Thanks again for taking the time provide us with your comments and we wish you all the best for the year ahead. Kind Regards, Leissa Prouchandy Guest Experience and Loyalty Manager
