Not a new hotel - sixties? But it’s been updated especially in the common areas. The price was excellent. The room was low rise and dated but for the price it was good. The restaurant food was great and staff very obliging and fun. No problem in extending check out.
Everything was great, from checking in to the clean rooms, the meals. The young man in the restaurant Kai may be his name was fantastic, it was very busy on the Saturday night, he took orders, delivered meals and drinks and was never flustered. I would say a great employee.
Stayed here as part of a tour. Room was large, clean and comfortable. Bathroom included a bath as well as a shower. Only concern was the uneven floor from the bathroom which presented a falls hazard for the unwary. Bar and restaurant on site which is good as there are limited dining options in the immediate area. Buffet breakfast offered all the usual foods. Choice of 2 swimming pools. Work was being undertaken with a crane etc. but management kept guests informed with an individual letter to each room. Not as central as other big name hotels but still within easy walking distance of the main esplanade areas.
We return to Rydges for each cairns trip as we like the position with access to esplanade and walking areas as well as restaurants. The in-house breakfast is always great quality. Choice of two pools. Only disappointment this trip was gym not functioning.
Had the most wonderful stay here. First holiday without the children in tow. Bottle of wine on arrival, stunning mountain views, friendly helpful staff. We had the buffet breakfast and did not disappoint, plenty of choices. Can't wait to return
Great room and views but the air conditioning was cold and bedding was inadequate. We had to seek out extra blankets twice even with the air conditioning turned off. Easy walk down the esplanade if you don’t mind the distance. Dining options are limited in the immediate area.
Although it was just out of the CBD it was close enough to walk along the beautiful board walk past café and restaurants the hotel itself is old and tired but the beds were very comfortable and it has everything you would need the pools are beautiful and the cocktails at the bar are first class and they do happy hour 4-6
Great friendly staff and a well appointed clean room with a view. Sensational pool area and a very good restaurant that has a happy hour. In a very good location with an easy walk to shops and restaurants. Parking is available at a reasonable cost. Highly recommended.
Hotel is very tired and dated. Bathrooms definitely need updating. Restaurant food was ordinary and service very slow. Uber eats ended up being a better alternative. Staff were very friendly so that was a plus.
Our week stay at Rydges was very relaxed and comfortable. Our spacious room was serviced every day with fresh towels provided. We enjoyed our 9th floor view of the water, foreshore and city. Staff were helpful and polite. The pool was great and not too busy. A toaster and some bowls and cutlery would be a good addition in order to enjoy a leisurely breakfast in our room rather than have to dress and go downstairs to eat.
