We spent a day on Fitzroy Island. The ferry ride from Cairns takes about one hour. The island has a lot of locations for swimming and snorkeling and also just walking. The resort food is overpriced but ok for relaxing with a beer in the evening. The glass bottom boat tour can be skipped.

The only reason to stay at this hotel is its location. The service was poor, the food was bad and overpriced, and the room (studio) was facing the rock wall. Curtains for the window needed to be used at all times because of the other hotel guests walking by it. The cleanliness of the room was good, however, cleaning was...

Hi DagEresund, Thankyou for taking the time to post your review. Fitzroy Island is in a great part of Australia and I am glad to see you enjoyed our location. It’s disappointing to see you that our staff and rooms did not meet your expectations. This is certainly not what I like to hear and whilst maintenance issues are rare,...

This is a fab place to go but I do not think I would stay more than a couple of nights. The location is wonderful for snorkelling & diving but as there is only the one hotel the eating/drinking options are fairly limited and would be a little repetitive if staying for a whole week. I do not think all...

The location of this island and the water, coral reef and accommodation are great. Unfortunately the staff are not very welcoming. No one says hello around the resort, smiles or makes you feel welcome. It took 10 days of going to breakfast in the same restaurant before there was any sign of recognition. Same question every day name room number. The...

Hi Patti T, Thankyou for taking the time to write such a detailed review. I am so disappointed to see you had a number of issues during your stay and our staff. Whilst I personally find it very difficult to remember the room numbers for all our guests, it is quite a shock to hear they were not welcoming towards...

we arrived on the island via ferry, the fun starts there the crew were good for a laugh, the room was a bit stale but it is to do with all the mango fruit around the area, the staff were more than help full, budget for activities as there is no free water sports for guests. take your own supplies...

We came here on our honeymoon from nz. We were looking for a relaxing week away, and got that. We were a bit worried about some other negative reviews on here, but it was a nice enough stay. We had an ocean view apartment and it was nice and spacious. We got plenty of food from the super market before...

It was a lovely, relaxing place to spend Christmas holiday. We enjoyed snorkeling, kayaking and hikes around the island. We also enjoyed visiting the turtle rehabilitation center close to the resort. The food was fine, not exceptional, and we wish there had been more healthy and vegetarian options. The dive center shop was helpful but we wish we had had...

We traveled as a family of 4 including my adult daughters using a Groupon deal. Stayed in an ocean suite (219) and a studio (220). The suite has a nice view of the ocean but the studio is dark. The rooms and kitchenette are just ok in their furnishings. The cooked breakfast is a fixed repetitive limited menu which got...

Visited Fitzroy earlier this year. The amenities are quite vast, and the staff is extremely diligent and helpful. The instructors at the dive centre are really friendly, and really know their stuff! For the price that you are paying, you can really get a lot out of this resort. Would recommend getting a room on the first floor rather than...

I've been there more than 3 times. Relaxing, romantic, many activities to do. It's a place to stay for a day or to spend a week on the resort. To swim on the ocean or in the pool. On the end of the day just sit in front of the beach on the sand to see the dolphins coming. Must...
