This is my favourite place in FNQ. Definitly stay the night if you can. Once the last boat leaves it feels like your own private island. Beds are comfortable, staff are friendly and the food at the restaurant is just mouth watering delicious. Sunset drinks are amazing. We brought friends up from Adelaide who absolutely loved it.

On the way in we felt like guests but by the time we were leaving felt like we being hounded out by every staff member. When a resort is half-full it is amazing that you could have cleaners, front desk and bag collection all calling and knocking at the door when you are 20 minutes past check-out, especially as the...

Love staying at this beautiful island. The staffs are friendly. Too many tourists during the day but once they're gone, it's great and peaceful. Wish more choices of restaurants. Definitely will be back again

The resort itself is nice, the grounds well-kept and rooms nicely-appointed with rain-forest trees around. Staff ranging from apathetic to lightly disgruntled. Certainly not consistent with the upscale nature of the facilities. I cannot express how disappointed we were with the resort's decision not to warn u ahead of time that a large part of the beach would be under...

After a slightly stressful time in a substandard hotel in Port Douglas, we (2 adults and 2 young kids) were a bit nervous about the next leg of our trip to Green Island. We needn't have been, as it was superb!! We had hired a car for Port Douglas and returned it to the city Hertz, which was just a...

The Green Island Resort is a 45 minute ferry ride from Cairns. The round trip ferry charges are included in the room tariff. A glass bottom boat trip and diving gear is only provided complimentary. During the day the resort permits several day tourists and hence it is quite crowded. The day tourists depart at 4pm and after that one...

We stayed for one night on a package offer at Green Island Resort. We've stayed on two previous occassions and always really enjoyed the rooms at the resort and what there is on offer. On a package, it was better value as it included ferry transfers, snorkelling equipment/wetsuit, huge buffet breakfast, fish feeding, glass bottom boat tour, welcome drinks and...

Beautiful island, nice clean rooms, friendly and helpful staff. Need more variation / options on restaurant menus when staying for a week or more. Very quiet and relaxing once all the day trippers go home.

My husband and I have just returned from a wonderful holiday on Green island. The local weather was unseasonably cold and windy, so we did not try the windward beaches, but everything else was terrific. The staff at the resort could not do enough for us, the resort provided all the gear we could need to snorkel for free (including...

We did not feel swamped by day visitors and they were off limits to the actual hotel guest areas.

Yes, come prepared. As others have said, snacks are available at the shops during the day but are on the expensive side. Come 4pm, there is nowhere to buy food other than in the restaurant. Reception has a bowl of fruit for guests to enjoy, but if you want more than fruit bring your snacks with you.

Hi Kristen,

due to the size of the resort there are no babysitting facilities on the island.

Hi Greg,

Stingers are far more common in warmer months (Nov to May) but they can be found the whole year round. Most are harmless to man, however certain varieties may cause a serious reaction. Incidents involving serious marine stings in this area are quite rare.

There are no nets on Green Island. The coastal nets only protect against the larger box jelly fish and these are not found on the reef or islands.

Our team and life guards on the island are conscious of the danger of marine stingers and take appropriate steps to ensure your protection if they believe conditions are such that there is a possibility of encountering these creatures. Lycra suits are available to you as a resort guest and these reduce the possibility of stings & irritations, we stronger advise wearing one when (they protect you from the sun as well).

If you have any other questions please feel free to contact us at reservations.

Hi there Littlegreenjodes,

Green Island Resort certainly is child friendly and we have the privilege to welcome many families on the island. There is a problem sometimes with capacity as the max capacity of our largest rooms are 2 adults and 2 children.

Even if they/you aren't comfortable with them snorkelling they can: hope on the glass bottom boat tour, visit the crocodiles at Marineland Melanesia, join in with the afternoon fish feeding and the day/night eco walks. There is also a guests only pool that they can swim in if they like.

100% child friendly.

if you'd like some more information our reservations team would very much like to talk to you :)

Cheers,

Team Green Island Resort.
