We spent one night here as part of our Groovy Grape outback tour, great little stop that was conveniently located in the heart of Coober Pedy and also offered a very welcome break away from the unrelenting outdoor heat! Bedding was very clean, bathroom facilities were great and the accommodation itself was unique and an experience in itself!

Spent a night in this 'dugout' as part of my tour. Temperature is cool and air is fresh enough in the bunkhouse. You can draw the curtains to partition the big bunkhouse into smaller 4-bed dorm 'rooms'. Don't worry- it's not too claustrophobic. Conditions of bunkhouse, shower and toilet facilities are surprisingly good. Go for a tour in the Umoona... More

I stayed there during my Groovy Grape Rock 2 Water tour. Nice place, comfortable bunk beds. Room for 40 people if I remember correctly. The only downside is if one of the bunk mates snores then it reverberates throughout lol

Danny met myself and two other travelers off the bus. He was friendly and helpful, allowing us to get settled before checking in. After we'd paid up he gave us town maps and took the time to explain which were the best attractions and which were free. Don't forget this place is called a bunkhouse, as that's exactly what it... This is the best place to stay for backpackers in Coober Pedy! Low price for as much underground stay as you can get in town. The owner is very friendly and helpful and can help you organize everything you want to do in and around Coober Pedy.

If you don't have to stay in this accommodation, don't. Hostel style cave with basic basic facilities - a steel bed, flimsy old sheets, very old thin pillows, and only an old curtain for privacy in each cell. We called it Alcatraz down under. The ablutions were poorly cleaned, the light bulds in several of the cells did not work,... More
